Daicos v Serong. I like daicos but his bye ties him with serong imo....
Serong

Ideal bye/ no early bye/ 3 of his first 4 games at home where he averaged over 120. Plays WCE & Rich in his first 5 games so I can see him starting the season well. Daicos has a hard draw to start along with the early bye so I see him as an early upgrade target after his bye

Bont & Lalor (unknown what he will score) costs $ 884,500.00

V

Dawson & Peatling costs $ 903,100.00

Would require Peatling getting to that 85-90 average minimum
Captaincy boosting the first option would be hard to see no more than 200 points combined with the 130/70.
Peatling and Dawson could see 200 as baseline with the 90/110. I can see 100-105 and 115-120 for both best case.

Bont will drop in value and Lalor probably doesn't rise as much as Peatling.

My initial reaction was that I would choose one of the fit ones, and probably the one who has reduced internal competition (rather than increased competition).
I’m not worried at all about Petracca’s injury, he’s done all the fitness components of pre season, just been in no contact.

I assume you’re talking about Dawson having increased competition in the midfield. Tbh I think his role gets better this year, Peatling is basically a straight swap for Laird in terms of mid time. There’s also less reason for Dawson to go forward as long as Fogarty, Tex and Thilthorpe are all fit.

I’m probably answering my own question here but Green’s round 0 score is likely the decider.

Peatling and L Ryan

Or

Day and T Stewart
I think Ryan is overpriced given the change in Freo's game plan after the loss to the Dog's in the first game after last years bye.

I can see value in Day, providing he stays fit, which he hasn't managed to do yet.

There's definite value in Peatling given the talk of midfield time so far, I want to see confirmation of this in the preseason games.

Stewart averaged 110 when moved to a more midfield role, but only 98 in the games before that after taking out the games affected by injury. I'm not sure if the midfield role sticks with the addition of Smith and whoever else Scott deems to roll through there, I'd still be hesitant even if he gets mid time in the preseason games.

Then there's the early byes for both of them in the second option.

This probably doesn't help, but I'd be inclined to go with Peatling and Stewart with a projection 95 + 110 as against the other two 105 + 105. The $250k saved could well generate another 40-50PPG if spent wisely somewhere else.

Draper is a key defender so not sure why you’d go there.

Don’t love Schoenmaker personally but if you’re keen on him he could be alright with the injuries they’ve got.
There's a bit of chat from some Freo supporters on the BF board suggesting that he will be used a bit more with a more direct game style. It was evident in round 16, the game after Longmuir ripped into the defenders for stat padding and not being accountable, he got injured the next game and I think he came back when Pearce went down, forcing into a lockdown role. Anyway, it's a bit of a watch between the two in the preseason games.

Ashcroft and Sanders is the more fun and adventurous choice, possibly netting you higher points too if all goes well.

Luke Ryan last season

with Pearce 15 games @ 122.00

2 games Pearce got subbed off , Ryan scored 93 & 99

without Pearce 8 games @ 106.50

(116 , 99 , 98 , 75 , 126 , 156 , 68 , 114)

Pearce missed 16 - 18 , 20 - 24

Subbed off in 15 & 19

Cox played Round 1 & 17 - 24.

The only game Cox , Pearce and Ryan played together Ryan scored 165 😱

Advice being sought in -

Andrew Brayshaw as M3/high priced rookie

OR

Will Ashcroft/Sanders

Benefit if Brayshaw is he's a chance to be a top 10 mid keeper unlike either of option 2 and high priced rookie to generate cash. Option 2 should provide better on field scoring and Sanders could be a top 10 forward as long as he's not Bevo'ed? Which option is best to start with?

Probably a question for the X v Y thread but I’ll answer it anyway.

I’d rather pick a keeper and a rookie over two risky midpricers who are unlikely to be top of their lines for the season and will need upgrading. Individually they could all be great picks but I’d rather lock in a keeper in this situation.
