CA Statement on Stoinis

Appears to be a minor groin strain , will be monitored overnight

Source: CricInfo
Cricket.com.au reporting left side strain so who knows

hopefully they send him for a scan and provide a accurate update

god help us if he is ruled out for the remaining series , Henriques might get a game 😀

hopefully they try Green

Reckon the signing of an OS replacement pace bowler has just become even more important for the Stars.

I would assume they have signed somebody already but with the Stars women in their first WBBL Final tomorrow night, they’re holding off on the announcement so the focus is squarely on the ladies, and rightly so.

Chris Jordan I have seen being mentioned , problem is the signing will be a replacement for Bairstow and/or Pooran so they can't play all 4 of them together.

I would go a 3 game replacement for Bairstow , then something longer for Pooran.

I must've missed it but what's happened to Zahir?
On the plane as we speak with Mujeeb , Nabi & Noor.

Given Mujeeb is missing the game on the 11th I am thinking Zahir misses the same game 😀

I guess it depends where they arrive and how they calculate the 14 day quarantine period (I assume 1 day is a full 24 hours).

They then would need to get to Canberra and Hobart respectively.

Ah yep that makes sense, lost track of the days and forgot that BBL is now less than 2 weeks away!

I think Maddison is out rd1
Had forgotten he was in the Aus A squad.

Assuming Zahir is unavailable first game, this is what I’d say the Stars will line up as:

Stoinis
Cartwright
Larkin
Maxwell
Dunk
Gotch
Coulter-Nile
Hinchliffe
Zampa
Morris/Hatcher/Coleman
Stanlake

That would mean there’s a good chance the Stars get 8 overs from Coulter-Nile and Zampa, then the other 12 will come from the combination of Stanlake, Hinchliffe, maxwell and the the other seamer that’s selected. Don’t really see Cartwright bowling if they line up like the above.

Hard to disagree with your logic. Surely something has gone wrong though if they sign a player for 3 games (Noor) and he doesn’t even make it for the first 1?

Is NCN now a must pick rd1 DGRer

I think NCN has been a must pick since he was available from round 1. Priced well, and good history of doing well when getting the opportunity to bat. I’m thinking about captaining him now that Stoinis is in doubt.
I tend to agree. He was second on my “value” list, independent of his DGR.

If we assume that Zahir isn't available for the first game, and that Stoinis is now in doubt, I've been trying to figure out whether Maxwell will get some overs in that first game. Unfortunately, the Heat's batting lineup is pretty much all right-handers, with the exception of Heazlett, so I'm not sure he'll want to use himself that much!

Captaincy choices suddenly get very interesting...

I guess the Virus has played havoc with airline schedules all round the world.

At least he is on the plane , Ashraf & Shinwari didn't even make it that far last season.

Depending on arrival time , their quarantine should end on the 12th.

Maybe CA/BBL have got exemptions for them , I guess we just wait until teams are announced .
