No games today in the U19s national champs unfortunately, rest day. Vidler played game 1, rested game 2, played game 3, rested game 4 (yesterday).

The game starts 10:30 AEDT tomorrow. If he doesn’t play, then he’s likely flown to Melbourne for the BBL game I assume.

Khan out for Bethell probably gives Sutho more security around overs... I take it Bethell is a part timer at best. Although can't see him batting any higher.

Interesting to see if the Gades go to two spinners (by dropping a quick) or play 4 quicks and Zampa.

Bethell is quite a bit better than a part timer, I'd expect him to bowl but maybe only 2 overs at best from game to game.

I think we were just wrong on the overs split for Sutherland although he only brought himself on in the 12th over when the other bowlers weren't working. I'd still like to see what the role is like if they're taking wickets and he doesn't necessarily have to bowl.

Welcome to the BBL - this may be a real lemons into lemonade opportunity given how bad the Stars were!

Some quick thoughts to consider:

The Hurricanes and Thunder guys are probably under the radar due to fixture (ie a potentially good reason), but Konstas may be a viable alternative if you want some exposure.

Value picks to consider include Edwards, Abbott, Zampa. All have early doubles.

If you know which Strikers you want, getting them know saves you trades.

Having a game of info on the Scorchers gives you an edge of sorts - try to use it, and work backwards from R2 trade planning if you can.

Have a think about captaincy and how you would execute the loop.

The Strikers seem to really like handcuffing Boyce and Pope together so is Thornton the most likely out for Doggett?

It continues to astound me how the Scorchers and the Sixers put together quality line ups year after year with no weak links and quality players unable to get a game and the Stars and Gades always seem to have to rely on multiple unproven fringe players. Small sample size I know, but things looking no different this year.

Thornton seems a fairly locked in member of the XI to me.

Doggett more likely to replace whichever of Bazley/L Pope gets a gig this round imo.
