Can't Bazley bat a bit though too which I thought might have given him an extra chance of re-selection if he plays tonight, but perhaps not?
Plenty of options

4 + WK + Overton & Allen

Boyce & Pope , Thornton

Might use Allen more for his batting than bowling

4 bowlers + Allen & Short & Short (?)

Do they need another bowl option in Bazley or Scott ?

Or a extra bat option in Ross ?

Or play 1 of the All Rounders for bat & ball

Final XI tonight will be telling

Wouldn't be him... @Diabolical has been saying for months he's fading Matt Short ;)
Yes, but the 2 time champion has also said you need to be to adapt your selections. I remember reading he has two 100+ scorchers assets sitting on the bench. Allows two 39K nu*** to be on field freeing up a large chunk of cash.

Also has Sutherland with the (C) matches Curren. I assume in for a 1,100 plus weekly score.?

It continues to astound me how the Scorchers and the Sixers put together quality line ups year after year with no weak links and quality players unable to get a game and the Stars and Gades always seem to have to rely on multiple unproven fringe players. Small sample size I know, but things looking no different this year.
Stars and Gades both put up respectable totals to chase. Wouldn't say the run chase was easy but both Sixers and Scorchers looked comfortable in getting the runs required.

Thanks Herbie all good thoughts.
Tonight's Strikers Final XI will be telling but as you explained, based on their depth and spread may not be too predictive...unlike the Heat.
Might just stick fat with Thornton for now then and see how it plays out, thanks.

No worries

I have Thornton on my bench so hopefully he isn't impacted.

So hard to decide atm, whether to fade M Short - so hard to get into the side next week. Options, I have are

M Short + Buckingham (to get Connolly), or
Overton + Pope - assuming we hear about his arrival before Friday.

Pope obviously has more potential for Rd's 2 & 4, as opposed to Buckingham. Almost have to give up 3 decent players next round from the MS or MR just to get Short and 2 cheapies in...

For me, the risk with the Short approach is you end up with a lot of cheap players that can't easily be moved on. There are 3 SGR in the last 5 rounds, and the last thing you want is to be left with a lot of questionable cheap guys that have either role or JS concerns. I'd rather be carrying some better guys (especially all rounders) over that period if I can, and so having too much tied up in Short makes that really hard.

Makes sense. That's what I have been toying with... To loop Connolly meant that I had Buckingham, whilst also having Doran, Konstas, and Wildermuth. The last two are likely to play though.

If I can get Short in Rd 2, then I will then. Still nail biting... It's like leaving Gary Ablett Jnr out of your side when he was at his prime. Just got to hope Short drops in price.

Yeah will be very nerve wracking, especially if he goes huge tonight!

What I'm currently trying to figure out is whether to use Scott as my donut for the added flexibility or to pick Buckingham in the hope he gets a game down the track.

Reading the tea leaves he seems to be a fair way back though? He bowled in the preseason game so it doesn't seem like fitness is the problem...

My issue with Buckingham was whether he would get a game. I think that is the reason I have to loop someone with more potential like Pope. If you can afford someone more expensive, then go for that.
