Wow, 98 on debut - awesome stuff from the teenage number 11!

Balancey now, although probably still in England's favour - if KP and Cook get settled on Day 3, they could make big tonnes and Australia could be batting for a draw on a dodgy pitch late Day 4 into 5 with Swan tweaking from one end into Starc's footmarks.

I feel your pain Jay - I have Trott as well, thankfully not as C, that was Clarke's job as C to duck up in my team... At least Trott made some runs in the first innings!

Great stuff by Agar. Unlucky he didn't get the 100. Now its up to our best part of our team our bowlers to strut there stuff.
How bad are our batters. Only have one true a grader.

It is a strange one. Starc nearly scored a century recently too, plus Siddle got back to back 50's not that long ago. Most of our batters cannot bat, but our bowlers sure can...lol. Just super happy Boof is coach and the morale boost it seems that has added a sense of adventure with what to do with what we got in our squad.
It has worked in this 1st Test regardless of if we win. We were a basket case. The fact we are in this match now is a great start in right direction. The lift in spirit on it's own will have great benefits over the longer term.

Amazing to think in 1st Test as coach he was willing to take so many risks. Throw batting order around so much, pick teenager in 1st Test. Pick Steve Smith and bat him at no.5. Take Hughes away from top order and bring him in later. Come straight in and tell everyone straight up Watson is back to opening. I will concede I'm still annoyed Cowan is in side but even that he tried something different. It did not work but love the way Boof has not died wondering. Would love to see his SC side. He probably picks that too like I pick mine. Risks everywhere....lol... Probably ranked outside top 50 K too :)

What I just witnessed is beyond belief. :-(

Test so even with England starting to get a nice lead and a clear edge to Clarke at slip off Agar completely not observed by umpire.

Disgusted. The reason it not reviewed by 3rd umpire is Aussies got no referrals left this innings.

If players could not review decisions (referrals) and was only in hands of 3rd umpire this crap would never happen.

What gets me too is batsmen knows he is clearly out but exploits this new era by not walking.

Not blaming him personally as this new era basically encourages batsmen to never walk. :-(

That wicket was so vital too....

Batsmen never walk ORF - that is why there are paid umpires. The only batsman to walk consistently was Gilly, and he only did it out of pride once he started.

Yep, Aussies are in the poo now. England will bat through to lunch/end of the 3rd session tomorrow and declare - if that happens we lose. I just don't see how our batting line up could deal with the English attack for a day and a bit, let alone make enough runs to win.

Plenty of batsmen have walked over the years but with these type of systems in place batsmen will decide never too anymore which is sad for the game.

Umpires are paid to get it right, dock him a days pay for that howler.

What an ordinary way to end an engrossing match! If that doesn't promote discussion on the DRs then nothing will! Where is snicko? What's with the bizarre grey area with lbws? Doesn't there have to be definitive evidence to overturn a decision? Not trying to discredit England, they played well and are worthy winners but it's disappointing that DRS continues to have such a profound negative influence on games.

Joined the sportal league.

I've gone James Anderson as Captain.
22 wickets in 3 Test matches, at an average of 14.45 at Trent Bridge.

Hoping he doesn't repeat that tomorrow though :D
Unfortunately, this was the man that destroyed us. I was hoping he'd stay off the ground with the niggle but not to be.
Well played Haddin and Patto to get that close.

DRS in cricket works as well as the video review in AFL games. Ultimately just wastes times and gives you an extra chance of being angry at a decision. Scrap all video reviews now. Just give the 3rd umpire the chance to correct absolute 100% howlers like Rogers given out when it hit his pad.

Agreed, it only works if we use all the technology at our disposal and it is at the 3rd umpires discretion rather than the captains

Grant & Sam,
Could not agree more.
Just terrible to feel DRS system as it is used now spoilt what otherwise could have been a classic Test match finish. Such an anti-climax for wickets to fall or get decided mainly by this way. The 3rd umpire should be considered the overruling umpire and captains get no say in it.

Ironic the Test match ended with a video review wait and the drama of seconds after play involved is gone. Haddin was out but it is referrals that spoilt the Test match as a sport. The fact that Broad was out, he knew it, the Aussies knew it and he stayed in to play on is not good for the game.

There was a time when I would have totally agreed on the 'no DRS' thoughts, but after getting used to the system and watching the Indian tests, it annoyed the crap out of me when there was no DRS.

Yes, it will have dramas, yes it will cause issues, but it takes out the dodgy calls and provides more strategy to the game. You also quickly figure out who the super selfish players on the team are... *cough Watson cough*

For those that don't like it - would you rather the anti-climax with the use of the DRS, or Australia losing the Ashes due to an absolute umpire howler sans DRS??

As far as I'm concerned we lost it due to the howler. (Cowan double failure too at crucial times cost us too)
Broad not been given out because of the stupid referral system set up they have presently has cost us this 1st Test. I feared in last day and a bit it might prove the difference and my worst fears sadly come to pass. The 3rd umpire and umpires themselves should be the only ones themselves to use video review at their own discretion. There should be none of this crap where each team gets a certain amount of referrals they ask for. Mark Taylor has been pointing this out for a good 2 years but still we go with the dud system and look what happens. A horrible howler is the difference in a close match. Could not be reviewed by 3rd umpire sadly
Just a joke the ICC allow this to continue to go on.
