@Herbie66

Stuart Law springs to mind

367 First class games/ 601 innings - scored 27080 runs at an average of 50.52.

Played County Cricket for both Essex and Lancashire, passed 1000 runs every English season from 1999-2003 before getting injured in 2004.

He played just 1 test match... poor guy

All about timing, very strong batting line up in his era with the Waugh brothers, Ponting, Bevan, Slater, Taylor etc
One Test and doesn't have a Test Average 54 *

Punter's debut (wrongly given out LBW on 96)

Renshaw's 2023-24 Shield record is 348 runs at 31.6 and 1 century

Bancroft was last year's leading Shield runs scorer with 945 at an average of 59.06 with four hundreds, and also sits atop the most prolific domestic batters this season with 512 at 56.9 with 2 centuries from his nine innings.

Looks like his papers have been stamped because of his comments about the NSW bowling cartel over sandpaper gate because on pure numbers over the last 2 shield seasons he should be in the squad over Renshaw.
Bancroft probably won't get a gig even if he ave 100 in Shield. IMO in the current squad you need to be liked by Cummins and co otherwise you don't get a go. Did not help his cause with those comments a few years ago but like the removal of Langer previous performance means nothing.

3rd ODI Sri Lanka v Zimbabwe

You would think taking 7/19 (5th best in ODI history) would be the best for your country , but no Hasaranga still wasn't good enough to beat Vaas 8/19 v Zimbabwe who were all out for 38

Australia win the toss and bowl...

Hopefully the WIndies put up a fight. Everyone is expecting Australia will be batting today and the game over before the weekend.

Problem with Bancroft is he’s been lacklustre outside of Aus. None of the openers are exciting at all, mediocrity and none are young either. Green is undoubtedly better than Bancroft. They may as well pick their best 6.

I disagree, had a few good seasons in England a few years ago. Was good in South Africa before his ban. That being said I think those stats are a bit irrelevant as they were so long ago. Can’t pick someone based on stats from years ago. Completely different player from then to now.

I would’ve liked to have seen Bancroft given a go. That being said I liked Renshaw being around the squad for flexibility considering he can bat anywhere.
