Bartel, McVeigh, Walker not wroth the 500k. Mitchell would be as i see a 100ave from him. Hanley at 500k isnt for me, tag him one game and bang his under 450.
I agree with this. The first 3 have questionable history, as to whether they can justify their prices. Mitchell seems to be priced about right.

My thoughts exactly. McVeigh and Walker more so don't have numbers that justify starting them over a midfield of the same price. Bartel i'm 50/50 on and Mitchell should be locked on price and historical numbers.

Bartel will be the highest scoring defender next year. Easily worth 575k in my opinion. Will still get midfield time when it's needed, and is the cats go to man for R50s.

This guy is the best utility going around. Ridiculously good 1 v 1 player, rotated through the Middle, extremely strong over head, beautiful kick, great below the knees, breaks lines and gets forward to kick goals, What more can you ask from a defender? Locked and loaded, not often you can get a Brownlow Medalist as a defender.

Another consistent old guy that I want to write off. Dammit!

Last year does look like a bit of a blip in the downward trend though...

I agree PC, he is now priced at his highest for the last 4 seasons. I think he will be a top 4 Def in 2014, but I'm pretty sure we can pick him up cheaper later on.

This has me rethinking my setup now. Originally had McVeigh and Walker on the radar but might reconsider. Mitchell and Adcock are locks for me at this stage.

Don't forget that Bartel got 40 odd points just for kicking the winning goal over the Roos last year, which won't happen every year. Take that one kick away and his season average drops by 2ppg.

He does do that at least once a year though ;). But I'd pick him up cheaper later anyway. I'm in the sub-500k club tbh.

So 'only' averages 104 for a defender then. How many other defenders had that good an average in 2013 or his average of the past 5 seasons? Maybe Goddard who is no longer a defender. Most premiums you'll lose a little value on at starting prices but if they are in the top 8 or so of their position come the end of the year, you really haven't lost anything by having them in and saving yourself a trade. It's usually a lack of trades that kills us by year's end.

90-93 as a base, could very well do better. Very classy player, am considering the Paul Roos factor as well.
Yeah I think that's about right. So if he can play consistently, he looks to be a good pick up for his price (436k) and handy with the DPP. Relatively easy start to the year, even though they probably won't win

doesn't sit right with me having multiple 550k defenders.

i do believe you will need to eventually have these D/M guns to keep up. i'm happy to pay hopefully below 500k when the mcveigh/walker/bartel/hodge/hanley types drop (they will!)

i think they all represent poor value. however i will lock in mitchell to replace the GODdard

grimes looks a good buy. absolutely on the radar, decent starting price, new coach; decision pending based on pre season / role
