I've prepared some driver and teams break evens going into round 12 (post the summer break).
Drivers: Ocon -76, Latifi -32, Tsunoda -28, Russell -14, Alonso -8, Schumacher 0, Gio 14, Sainz 18, Gasly 18, Kimi 22, Stroll 28, Mazepin 29, Dan Ric 48, Leclerc 55, Vettel 61, Hamilton 72, Bottas 116, Norris 118, Perez 147, Max 276
Teams: Williams -56, Alpine -51, Alpha -17, Haas 4, Ferrari 30, Alfa 35, Aston 69, McLaren 114, Mercedes 126, Red Bull 262
What if Ocon scores nothing for the next two rounds?
Ocon will be a very popular selection, but in the 6 rounds prior to Hungary, his best score was 19, so don't expect him to score too well. If he were to crash out in qualifying and the race for the next two rounds, he would still add $1.6M this round and $0.9M the next. So it's a safe $2.5M and its $3.5M if he can score 15 in both rounds.
What are Red Bull and Max going to do?
Max is still in most teams but it may be time to reconsider that. If Max can achieve pole, win and fastest lap in the next round, he loses $2.2M. If he were to DNF again, he could lose the best part of $5M. We still have a lot of trades and the concept of trading him out this round and getting him back in the next round seems reasonable.
Red Bull aren't much better placed. Best case it's a $2M drop this round and more likely $2.5M. Those that sold a Red Bull to a Ferrari two rounds ago banked $18M. In two rounds time, Ferrari could be within $8M of Red Bull. That's the potential to upgrade two Ferrari's to two Red Bull's, for the price of one downgrade. Bargain.
How close are coaches getting to 'full premo'?
Actually pretty close. At the start of the season, the top 4 drivers and cars cost $207M and our starting budget was $120M. Now the most expensive team costs $213M, but some coaches will have around $190M including their bank. Quite a bit of that last $20M-$25M could be made up over the next two rounds as Max and Red Bull lose dollars.
Trades
Lots of options this week. Assume everybody will target cash and hold falling premiums in the hope of getting more points? Go full cash generation for two rounds and hope to catch the points up in the last 10 rounds? Below is some sort of balance.
Out: Max, Leclerc, Ferrari
In: Sainz, Ocon, Alpine
Hamilton C, Bottas, Sainz, Ocon
Mercedes, Mercedes, Ferrari, Alpine
Bank $39M
