Who are the community looking at at the 400-499k mark (forwards)?

Personally Sam Gray, Devon Smith and of course the big Budwa have my attention.

Gray looked good today although with a depleted Port side around him. Budwa was quiet despite all the hype coming out of the Swans camp of his 'fantastic' pre season.

Devon Smith is one I am heavily considering. Looking at his 2015 scores, he has no issue scoring big points (170, 123, 128) just consistency being his only pitfall. Reading the article below its very encouraging to see him address this inconsistency as an area for improvement during his 2016 season.

Treloars departure coupled with my opinion of a top 8 GWS side in 2016 should bring a bigger average for him this year. He is considered an integral part of the 'young up and coming gws brigade.'

Thoughts???

Non stand outs who stand out shall not be upgraded to stand out due to the standing of the game. Those who stood out of the game, whether they are stand outs or non stand outs, will remain at their respective standings.

Do the upstanding members of this outstanding site now understand player standings around game standing?

No one for me, Buddy is too injury prone, Gray too unproven, and Smith seems to play too much as a forward to be a consistent scorer. Treloar might help him, but I suspect Hopper will come in and take his spot.

Not 100%, but pretty sure he played exclusively up forward in the GWS intra-club last week, think it was on BF. Not sure if that would sway any decisions?

Interested in thoughts on Montagna - and not thoughts like "he's over priced" without an explanation ;)

Last 7 years he has gone 110+ 4 times, 100 twice and 90 once. What caused those huge fluctations? Injury, team, wins/losses?

If he goes near 110 he is a lock and top 2 forward. If he goes 90 he stinks - in between and it's a more difficult call. What do people have his average at this year (and more importantly, why?)

Cheers.

From my point of view, I put him in the same basket as Shaw and Goldy.

All 3 are priced for perfection and I think we all expect them to drop on price a little.

I'm hoping to bring in all 3 by round 10.

My left field POD who i won't have the testicular fortitude to pick here and falls into your question is Stringer.
Can't deny dogs don't have a bad early draw with many games at the dome, if he is fitter and reports are he is in good shape he would get more ball. He looks like a bigger and dare i say better version than chappy for mine

From Footywire:

Kurt Tippett looks set to finish his career at the Sydney Swans after meeting contract incentives that have extended his tenure at the SCG until the end of 2018.

"It's a great result when you put performance-based incentives in contracts and the player activates them. They get rewarded with the security of a couple of extra years and that's been the case with Kurt," Swans football chief Tom Harley said.

"His year last year was almost a year of two halves, the back half of the year was really solid and he ended up finishing eighth in the club championship, which was a reflection of how strongly he finished the season.

"I think all ruckmen now really need to have at least a couple of strings to their bow. We know that Kurt can play forward and we also know that he can play in the ruck, so we think he's a real asset from that end."

---
Interesting that they seem to see Tippett as a ruckman who can play forward, rather than a forward who can play in the ruck.

If Franklin is going to play alot of mid with JPK spending more minutes forward... Then both aren't even worth considering from my perspective..

Franklin has always relied on goals/marks on the wing to score at a decent rate, him playing midfield only adds to the risk imo.

I saw those comments from JPK, although I'm not placing too much weight in them. Kennedy wasn't named in a long list of Swans as being in the forward structure they've been practicing with this pre-season, he doesnt kick very well (28 goals and 43 behinds over the last two years, 50-50 or less every year except 2012) and if there's one thing the Swans don't need, it's another midfielder! :)

Is there a serious case for boomer??
history shows there is a serious case for him. the guy has been mr consistent. i am not sure at the moment due to age and how much game time he will have. he will definitely break the record for most games. his a 50/50 for me.

Anybody still have Craig Bird in their team?

He has been in and out of my team but is in at the moment.

Played well in the intraclub which doesn't mean a whole lot but encouraging nonetheless.

My comment will probably not be worth much as I've never considered him for my team. After the WADA verdict, I've adopted the approach of only looking at their rookies though I must admit to having a closer look at Goddard for a brief moment.

I've always moved away from Buddy as a means to minimise the risk exposure of my overall team, he may make his way back but it'll be dependent on whether I get the rookies I want and whether I want to take a risk with my R2.

What I find interesting through the many iterations of my team is that somehow I've come a full circle and am currently sitting on a team with the exact structure as the very first team I put together, with only 3 keepers changing.

Think Bird will average around 85 which is not enough at his price. Plenty of better options that are cheaper in the fwd line

How much are we backing Deledio to average? Have the coin to afford him but I have doubts about his durability and whether he might be a better upgrade target. Tossing up between Dahl and Deledio. Dahl probably a safer choice in terms of cash spent and durability (although that's just speculation) but I am uncertain about his role now that Libba is back.

It's a tough question but I think 105-110, though it could be from 17/18 games. If he does only play 17/18 games his PIT70 average drops quite a bit.

Agreed with your queries in Lids. I have him averaging 106. Richmond also have a tough draw from round 4-9 (although Lids' average is quite consistent ex Geelong), and I query his price and durability, so he's an upgrade target for me.

If you've got the coin to get Deledio into your starting squad, without upsetting your preferred structure or other starting premium picks, I wouldn't even give it a second thought, he'd be straight in.
