Missed opportunity for the giants to “re-master” (scrap) their song :p

BREAKING
The AFL has decided to re-master or re-record 16 of the clubs' theme songs, with the Suns and Giants club songs remaining the same.

It will be interesting to be seen how the newer versions of these classic songs will be received by fans.

Given how awesome and memorable all of the new expansion Club songs have been this change that we have all been demanding for years now is bound to be a winner.....

A few takeaways from HT at Casey v Box Hill praccy match:

Tyson - Won plenty of ball and has used it effectively.

Jetta - Solid defensively and impacted contest physically.

Harmes - Good energy, linking up well as a mid.

Garlett - Looks lively but not too many opportunities.

Freo gave their members a vote some years ago. Eskimo Joe (Freo band) wrote a song that I voted for but like anything in Australia, hard to get people to vote for change. I grew up in Freo and they will always be my club but I hate the nickname, hate the song and hate the colours!!!

MCG parking ban for blockbusters over terror fears

CARS will be locked out of the MCG precinct for AFL blockbusters and other major sports events this year, due to fears of terrorist attacks.
No public parking will be available outside the ground in Yarra Park for marquee matches including next week’s season opener between premiers Richmond and Carlton.
The Anzac Day blockbuster between Essendon and Collingwood, a rugby league State of Origin clash in June, and this year’s AFL finals series will also be no-parking events.
The move is a safety measure to keep fans away from cars in the wake of European terror attacks using vehicles to target crowds.

MCC chief executive Stuart Fox admitted the changes would inconvenience some fans, but he said they would also reassure the public they were safe attending sporting events in Melbourne.
“Ongoing events around the world and closer to home clearly demonstrate that we need to minimise the risk of *interactions between vehicles and pedestrians, especially in crowded places such as outside the MCG,’’ he said.
“The safety of all MCG visitors is our number one priority. This is a natural progression of the measures implemented at the MCG and at other venues in recent years.”
Public parking will also be scrapped at Melbourne’s Anzac Eve match against Richmond, Essendon’s Dreamtime at the ’G clash with the Tigers, and Collingwood’s Queens Birthday match with the Demons.
Some other games will see restricted parking. And an 80m exclusion zone will be set up between vehicles and the stadium, reducing parking availability to approximately two-thirds of capacity or about 2000 cars.
The traditional tailgate BBQ in the car park on Grand Final day is a thing of the past.
Similar measures were introduced during the recent summer of cricket and for last year’s footy finals.
Mr Fox said the MCC had worked with the AFL and Victoria Police to strike the right balance of safety and access.
He said: “We understand that some patrons will be *impacted by this decision and we have made arrangements to cater for as many vehicles as possible, in particular for the mobility impaired.”
A limited number of car spaces will be available for *disability permit holders, emergency service workers and authorised pass holders on days public parking is banned, subject to capacity.
Fans have been encouraged to use pubic transport to get to and from the MCG. “Our strong advice to footy fans is to take public transport to the MCG if possible,’’ Mr Fox said.

For those of you who are University students or staff members, you may recall that in previous years there has been a special discount offer available which provided SC Gold plus Digital Access (incl Live Scores) for just $25.

This offer is not being promoted this year, however if you ring up and quote your Subscriber ID number from last year then they will let you access this deal again this year. (note - the person I spoke to on the phone wasn't 100% sure whether Live Scores were still included, but they said the offer was basically unchanged, so I am assuming that they are still included)

Just hit me. We are into the most dangerous period of Supercoach. The second and third guessing and last minute changes and going against solid decisions in the process of building our starting teams. No more games, no more data. Just teams dropping on Wednesday...

We are now officially in: THE DANGER ZONE. Stick fat with your teams guys.

I've had so little time this year, if I get a half decent finishing rank I will once again put it down to the culture and inclusive nature of this website. Good luck to all. Look forward to sharing pains and joys of the SC year with you again.

So glad they are locking out the parking at the MCG - not like the crowd that that builds on the road to Richmond station isn't a possible 'issue'...

No, they're going to have that covered by banning the trains (and trams) from stopping at either Richmond station. You basically have to walk the last kilometre or two, no matter how you get there! :p

Should have the nuts and bolts done by now.

My policy from here is keep an eye out for injuries and do nothing else until teams drop. All you do is stuff things up otherwise.

So, I just want to confirm something: it is only Rd 12 13 & 14 that it's best 18, and not Rd. 10?

Work scheduled a meeting from 6:30 to 7:30pm. Was able to check that Barry was playing at 6:25 and didn't grab Garlett. But didn't realize Brodie wasn't playing til post lockout! So no Garlett for me.

Going to be a challenge trying to balance work and SC haha.

Yeah, because Australia is a known terrorist hotspot and there is practically a terrorist attack every day
God, i am sick of that word and the powers that use it for manipulation.
