THERE is uncertainty over Darcy Parish's fitness ahead of round one after the Essendon midfielder had scans on Monday morning.

Just four days out from the Bombers' season opener against Adelaide at Etihad Stadium, the midfielder was spotted at the AAMI Park scanning clinic.

He didn't take part in the club's main training session last Friday, which included match simulation drills featuring the majority of Essendon's list before they had the weekend off.

A club spokesperson told AFL.com.au that the 20-year-old was sent for precautionary scans and that the Bombers were hopeful he will be available to meet the Crows.

Scans came back clear and he's good to go for round 1.

Is Menegola fit? Is the calf ok?
Can't seem to find anything.
No injury symbol on SC.

Was this directly in relation to Kreuzer? Or a more general breakdown of the potential injury?

Carlton remains unsure how long injured duo Matthew Kreuzer and Matthew Kennedy will be out

CARLTON is no closer to learning of the severity of injuries to Matthew Kreuzer and Matthew Kennedy after both went down against Richmond.

Kennedy was lost to a game-ending ankle sprain in the first half while Kreuzer was severely restricted by a groin injury in the third quarter.

The Blues on Friday said the pair would be assessed next week and remained hopeful they would feature in Saturday’s Round 2 clash with Gold Coast at Etihad Stadium.

Carlton coach Brendon Bolton admitted after the game that Kennedy was a “significant loss” but said his players needed to learn how to cope with adversity.

“Our players need to learn to fight through that ... we won’t make excuses,’’ he said.

“Our group is pretty edgy - they’re holding themselves to high account,” Bolton said.

“That’s a step in maturity. They were a bit edgy with each other tonight, which is good.

“There’s no doubt about the effort, but we’re here to win games.”

9 day break is nothing but a positive, i think Kennedy will get up and Kreuzer will probably miss.

I think the Carlton hierarchy should be shot for sending Kreuzer back on and risking to lose him for months.

“Paddy’s got a history with achilles (injury), he has done for probably four or five years.

“We move on and recover and rehab Paddy’s as best as we possibly can.

“But not with a rush. We’ll look after him; he’s too valuable.

“He didn’t play out the game so I think he’s going to miss some time, but I don’t know.”

If Ryder does, as expected, miss next Sunday’s match against Sydney the Power have several back-up plans to consider.

Among them are having Westhoff do the bulk of the job or bringing in somebody from the fringe.

“We’ll look at that,” Hinkley said.

Were Ryder’s “ongoing” Achilles problems and required management common knowledge ?

He's had ankle/Achilles problems his whole career. Missed half a dozen games in 2015 with an Achilles if I remember right. When you jump like he does, somethings gotta give!
