MRP has completed Rd7 review. 11 charges and 2 other matters explained.
Dougal Howard can accept $2000 sanction, rough conduct on J Kennedy.
Nic Naitanui can accept $1000 sanction, attempting to trip J Pittard.
Nic Naitanui can accept one game, rough conduct on K Amon.

Contact JCarlisle/JHogan assessed. On goal vision, Carlisle makes contact to throat area. Free kick paid by the controlling umpire. It was view of MRO the contact was not excessively exaggerated by Hogan, while force was below that for a charge, with a free kick paid at the time.
A weeks rest could be good for Naitanui :)

Don't own Nic Nat but what is our great game becoming when a player gets a week for that, absolute disgrace.
Do they want them all to run around like Jack Billings scared to touch anyone. Turning it into netball.
No wonder my dad stopped watching years ago, its pathetic and is turning people off the game.
They should challenge and will win but does it still cost them $10k or whatever to go to the tribunal?
AFL's way of making money as per usual, money hungry thieves. Ahh this should probably be in the rant thread

Yep that's the final straw for me. Not the same game I once knew. I've just purchased my first Melb Storm membership. $99 a year and I get a scarf!
Out of interest is there such a thing as NRL supercoach?

If Nic Nat doesn't get off that will throw my plans well behind. Would've been down to 3 rookies on field this week and now it will be 4 again.

Not fair.

My favourite part of the NN footage is him smiling straight after “What are you gonna do about it”

Well here’s your answer mate ;)

In all seriousness, if he gets a game for that, I’d be absolutely livid if I was an owner.

Totally agree that a suspension is overkill for the tackle. One thing I found interesting was that Amon’s arms weren’t pinned and there was no second motion like in a sling tackle, although it’s questionable whether Nic Nat tried to turn him in the tackle while driving him into the ground. That may be the basis of a possible appeal - the duty of care aspect.

The AFL must be feeling very conscious of the research on the effects of head knocks in the NFL and their lawsuit. Overcorrected here with Nic Nat, though..

Just to temper the NicNat tackle talk (and I am an owner) I read that Amon was concussed following the tackle. Can't really let an incident that results in concussions go without punishment...

Yep he’ll get a game for it, and rightly so within with the rules they have in place.

Still doesn’t sit too well that it warrants a suspension though. When Houli gets 4 for a clean KO on a bloke last season, in what was an act 10x worse than driving someone into the turf in a tackle, 1 game for this just doesn’t seem right.

Mummy got off last year when he concussed Libba due to no second motion in an arguably worse tackle. I'm sure the Eagles will be all over that precedent.

I might be wrong, but with the new MRP and proceedure, is past record and case precedent relevant?

I had my collarbone broken in a tackle like NicNat's that obviously ruined my AFL career before it even started.

Throw the book at him :D

If you look at the lead up footage, as NN starts to launch into the tackle Amon spins from side on so his back is facing NN.. I feel he was already committed to the tackle at that stage

It'd be persuasive but of course they could come to a different decision as each case is different

Pendles, based on 360 reports including an interview with him:

- Pulled up "not too bad"
- Did it in the second quarter and it got progressively worse
- Was having issues turning
- Will go in for a scan which will determine what happens
- In a moon boot
- Could be bruising, could be something more
- Sounded more likely to miss than play this week to me, but no real indication it could be >1 week

Well that's just a kick in the shorts. I brought him in looking ahead to their match against Carlton!

Idiotic pick anyway but i was hopeful!
