Hi Rowsus,

I have posted this in the trades thread but I would also love to hear your thoughts.

Completely stuck on what I should use my second trade on (or whether I should even use it).

Option 1: Don't use second trade
Option 2: Lamb - Van-Berlo/Salem/McGrath
Option 3: Bellchambers - Van-Berlo/Salem/McGrath (and build up war chest)

Thanks

Hi Rowsus,

Here are my trade plans if you get time to take a look. I have decided to stick with Cripps at least for another week as it seems stupid to trade him out after the one game and a great NAB Challenge.

Michael Hibberd ---> Brodie Smith

This one is subject to Smith not being a late out and playing.
Hibberd has had a slow start to the year, and I should have backed my preseason work by picking Smith from the start.
You would probably have the figures better than me, but the way I see it is that Hibberd will drop in value by a bit whilst Smith will go up. I think the trade is worth doing in that I wont lose the value, and ideally I might get Hibberd again in 3-5 weeks when he has his fitness back and is back to getting consistent scores like the Hibberd of old.

Touk Miller ---> Jayden McGrath

A bit of a dangerous trade this as it messes with my structure, needing Bontempelli to move into the MIDs and fielding a FWD rookie in his place. With quite a few FWD rookies and MIDs also debuting this week which are possible rookie downgrades in the next few weeks I believe that I'll be able to shift the Bont back into the FWD no trouble in a couple of weeks. What are your thoughts regarding this??

At the moment I have 30 trades left and $89,300 in the bank.
If I were to complete the above trades I would be left with 28 trades and $78,000

What do you reckon mate?

Thanks, Goodie

I'm not Rowsus but I'd say no to both. Prem to prem this early after 2 games? Not for me. Back in Hibberd expecially as Smith has a cloud over him.

Hey Rowsus, scrap my previous post in regard to a trade plan. :D

Just wondering if you could give me a prediction of price for Brodie Smith (if he plays) and Jack Newnes.

Thanks

My guesstimates from SC gold. Smith will likely go up between 30k-40k. Newnes current score is 60, so lets say he manages to score 70 he will drop about 10k.

Yeah that's why I am hoping Smith doesn't play.
Cheers for that.

Hi HoM?
As you may have read earlier, i'm not a fan of using $90-$100k to get NvB. I'm also not a fan of drastic tactic changes so early in the season, unless it is forced upon you, so in that regard, I think you should hold TBC. Salem represents a very similar problem to NvB, so no trade there. I would only entertain Lamb to McGrath if you feel you are missing a Cash cow. If you have 6 of the top 7 and handful of others on the boil, you probably have enough, so the trade wouldn't be warranted. Lamb is actually a great loophole tool this week, being in the last game, not that that's a great reason to hold him. Bottom line, if you have 8 - 10 good looking rookies, you don't need another right now. There should be some more along shortly!

I agree with Santoz. Too sideways too early for mine, and I'm not anywhere near convinced that Miller to McGrath will produce a full trades worth of benefit.

Newnes $436,800 before tonight, and scored 72 on a B/E of 98, which should see him drop approximately $11,400 to ~$425,400.
Smith has a B/E of 35 and is $502,800, if he scores 100 he will rise approximately $28,600, which will make his new price ~$531,400

I'm pretty happy with my estimates then.

Hey Rowus,

Just wondering who you think is better out of K McIntosh and A Saad to have on the field. Been tossing up between the two all day

Thanks :)

Hey WTP,
It is a tough decision. I ended up benching Saad. McIntosh got plenty of the ball last week, but his score suffered because he used it poorly. He's got an easier opposition this week than Saad, so I went McIntosh.
I hope you jump the right way! :)

I'm stumped as to what to do with Griffen.

Seems like he's not dealing well with the hard tag each week.

I know the golden rule is not to sideways trade, but i really think I should move Griffen.

I am in the same boat. However, from what I saw in the Sydney game, he wasn't even tagged. I watched him the entire game, and he stays a kick behind the pack almost every time and just jogs up and down the middle of the ground. Literally only saw him sprint a handful of times during the entire match. Sure, it's not much of a sample size, but with all the capable midfielders in GWS, he doesn't have to be the one fighting in the packs, or the one that everyone looks to give the ball to. I know he had some serious back issues last season that had some possible long term implications, I wonder or not if the ailment improved or not.

I just can't see him averaging 100 with how well the young Giants' mids are playing.

Have Bartel to trade out as a first priority, but Griffen almost copped the 'T' last week (and his score this week has done nothing to endear him to me).

Hi Rowsus,

Interested in your thoughts on Angus Monfries, started at $340,600 and decreased by $20,300 due to his round one score of 8 where he donned the green vest due to no preseason match conditioning.

Has averaged 83.3 (2011) and 90.2 (2013) previously. Averaged 69.9 last year (including finals), which includes receiving the green vest once, and wearing the red vest twice due to injuries. These 3 games removed, and his average was 73.4.

Was considering him prior to this round, and now the Wines injury has caused me to further consider getting him in for Salem/Clark (I have the money) in an attempt to receive higher, more predictable scores, all whilst increasing in price to later move on up to a fallen premium (probably to one of his teammates in Ryder or Gray). I see more midfield time coming Monfries' way (26 touches/10 marks vs Swans last week), and also Port Adelaide's draw will open up after versing the past 3 grand final participants in the opening 3 rounds.

I know everyone has Clark, but out of all my on-field rookies, he is the least comfortable I am about fielding. Seems as though he is in for a fair few <50 scores. Salem is another who hasn't quite met my expectations. Both of which I'd be willing to cull to make way for Monfries, the question is though, is Gus worth it, even at a discounted price?

Hey Rowsus,
Is mumford>Goldstein worth it?
Mumford will require a trade sometime anyways, might as well grab the certain R1?

Also, since oliver wines is injured?
Who should I replace him with? Sloane or Fyfe? Not looking for a Pod here, Fyfe is a certain top 3 where as Sloane looks like a likely top 8

Hey Rowsus; I've got a bit of a warchest so I'm looking to do a couple of upgrades.

Excluding Hibberd, Newnes, Birchall, Higgins, Fyfe, Pendlebury, Gray, Swan, Martin and Ruckmen; which two players in DEF, MID or FWD would you want to bring in?

Hi Rowsus. I'm back for some much needed advice. I have $250K in the bank and have only used one trade so far (Gaz to Sloane). Looking at my team I can see two major problems - KK and McEvoy.

I was in the mindset of holding KK for a while longer thinking he could at least average 70-odd. After yesterday I'm not so sure! Do you have any advice on how to best use my trades and cash this week. I don't want to blow all my cash - ideally I'd like to keep ~$50K for a rainy day. Perhaps I need to pick the worst one out of KK and McEvoy and just concentrate on fixing that in the first instance? Thanks.

*Edit - just tinkering with trades and I can go McEvoy/KK to Blicavs/Hodge and still have $116K in the bank. The other options for McEvoy are Grundy or Smith. Also, happy to consider other defenders over Hodge such as Birchall or Smith.

Thoughts? It's very tempting!!

Hey Rowsus,

Sadly my SuperCoach misery continues with injuries to my stepping stone Wallis and Bartel.
Coupled with the fact I started with Rocky and Ablett then traded in Docherty this week.
My year has is off to a shocking start.
What next?
Thinking Bartel to Swan but leaves me only around $100k so not enough to upgrade Wallis to a good reliable mid at $452k approx. No longer convinced on The Bont after his injury and Dochertys failure
Was thinking either just bringing in Swan and waiting (Leave Wallis on Bench). Wait a week for Krakourer. Then downgrade a rookie to get a gun premo mid.
Roughead is another option for straight swap with Bartel but I reckon scores will be up and down.
Any thoughts?

I agree with JMAC, I don't believe he is being tagged out of games. I think his role hasn't been the same one he had at the Bullies in his golden days.
My suggestion is, he's not a priority to fix this week, but if you have nothing else that requires your trades, AND you have a little cash so you can get to a genuine Keeper, then why not fix him? I don't think I would trade him to a Stepping Stone, as that is locking in another trade. You took Griffen with the hope that you'd keep him, and taking a Stepping Stone might just be swapping one problem for another.
Your 3 options seem to be:
Ride him out a bit longer. His B/E is only 107, so he won't leak heaps of cash while you explore options.
Upgrade him to a genuine Keeper - Fyfe/Sloane/Pendles/Selwood type player.
Downgrade to Krakouer in a cash grab. I really hate recommending a 1 game Rookie, but if you are desparate to rid yourself of Griffen, and you think the cash grab is your best option, then Krakouer does look the best way out.
I would only go the downgrade uption this week, if getting the cash early will allow you do to something special, otherwise I'd wait a week, and make sure Krakouer is selected for his bubble game.
