Love to know your views on Westhoff too.

Port will come good in my opinion.
I'm not sure he is coping well with Ryder in the team. Is it coincidence Ryder misses a game, and Westhoff posts his best score for the season? Maybe, but I choose to believe that Ryder has stolen those "bonus" points Westhoff used to get as the 2nd key tall.

Who do you see as the top defenders from here?
Noe Bobbie, you know I hate these sort of questions! Especially about Defs! I think you're on a hiding to nothing when you try and list these, but here goes:

Shaw, Hodge, Simpson, Yeo, Murphy, Gibson, McGovern, Docherty, Houli

Did you have MJ off the ground?
If not, too late, if so, what trades have you made, if any, and what is your current Def line up?
Sorry Rowsus. I was just joking. I have the E on McIntosh as i was considering switching Saad to Mids if McIntosh scored well.

That's ok. I did the same. I was pretty confident McIntosh would disappoint us tonight, so I loopholed him too!

Hey Rowsus, your thoughts on Wallis as an option? Would trade him in for Rocky this week, allowing me to avoid donut in rd 12 bye and this round with the aim that in about 5 weeks he would be upgraded back to rocky/ablett if not pumping out premo mid scores

Here's what I wrote earlier in the week.

Hi MrM,
it all comes down to your opinion on what Wallis can/will average in the next 4 to 6 weeks.
If he averages 90 from here his price peaks after Rnd 12 at around $468k (+$89k)
If he averages 95 from here his price peaks after Rnd 12 at around $474k (+$95k)
If he averages 100 from here his price is close to its peak after Rnd 14 at around $490k (+$110)
If he averages 105 from here, you should nearly just keep him.
Compare all that to say a $125k Rookie, who needs to average around 60 to make you more dollars in 4 price raises. You also get the bonus of using the "spare" $250k for improvements elsewhere.
Yes, it's hard to find that Rookie right now, but if Wallis is coming in for both points and cash, as he was for my team last week, then the boat might have sailed, unless you have absolutely 0 confidence in any of the Rookies.
I'm hoping to use him, to finally get Fyfe into my team. Wallis should let me do it with a one up, one down trade, where as I'd have to use 3 trades otherwise.
I think he might be mid to high 90's. I'm not sure he's the best pick for teams in the top 100, that have burnt through their trades quickly, but I can see him having potential use, depending on your situation and season goal.

I'm taking KMac's score as absolute gold this week lol.
Anything over 40 from him this week is like a 120+ lol :p

hmm yes thanks for that
ranked 240 atm with overall goal in mind and have been trading very aggressively, regardless im intending to do 2 trades this week
its either Wallis or selwood and am not at all confident in backing selwood to even outscore wallis atm

Hi Rowsus,

Would like your opinion on the following options. As I have very limited trades left I have decided to hold rocky throughout the bye rounds. So I am looking at trading out Clark & Krak.

Option 1
Wines & Dale

This will be my 2nd time trading Wines into to my team. Gives me 7 mid prems (rocky warming the bench). Leaves me with 107k.

Option 2
Dahlhaus & Dumont

Would mean I have 7 fwd prems with a dpp in my mids. So someone like Motlop/Bont ultimately become my M9/F7. Leaves me with 73k.

Option 3
Dumont & Dale

Would give me about 468k to play around with in rd 12 for a double or even a triple upgrade.

I am leaning towards option 1 as this strengthens my team. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

While I'm not the best person to ask, in your position, if I had only two choices, being Selwood or Wallis, I'd take Wallis. Selwood is a bit off at the moment, and at least you can be confident Wallis should well and truly outstrip his buy in price.

I've just had a look at your team, and while you have done an absolutely extraordinary job to get to where you are, I think you need to trade like crazy in the next 2 or 3 weeks. My nephew is the current "Million Dollar Minute" carrier over champion (Joel Doutch), and he's playing under the "you've got to risk it to get the biscuit" approach. (He is currently in South America with his girlfriend, and I can honestly say, I have no idea how much wins, outside of the $17,000 he has won in televised shows so far!) I think you need to adopt the same approach.
Given you are trying to bridge a gap, that 244 players in front of you are also trying to bridge, I think you need to run in a direction that most of them aren't running in. In that sense, I would actually recommend going Wallis! I know I don't have to suggest this, but it would seem you also need to role the dice on Gray/Beams/Dangerfield/Franklin as Captain, rather than taking Fyfe, assuming you had the VC on him.
You certainly won't make the ground you need to, running in the same direction as those around you, but can't afford to run off on ridiculous tangents either. The one bit of advice I can give you is, the risks you take must have a value factor built into them. Not every move you make needs to be a risk, but some definitely should be. Wallis looks to be a value risk worth taking. I'm sure you have half an eye on Sidey as well. I think he could be nearly the key Mid for pointy end players in the second half of the season.
Some may take this as a bob each way, as earlier in the week I suggested Wallis wasn't a player for pointy end players. Each situation has it's own "best step from here" scenario. lakb24's current team has 4 risky and 8 non playing elements in it. This means, depending on his current Cash reserves, he needs to really role the dice on a value pick, just to maintain contact with the teams in front of him. He is currently ranked 246th overall.

Hi Tamu,
you'd have to back Wines in to outscore Dahlhaus from here, and he's cheaper than Dahlhaus. That alone makes option 1 the better looking option.
As to option 3, good luck finding 2 or 3 good upgrade targets amongst the Rnd 11 bye teams. Definitely option 1 for mine.

Ha ha! Thanks Rowsus. Just trying to validate bringing in Yeo at this point of the season. Really wish Gibson, Murphy and Simpson didn't have the round 11 bye!

Hmmm - I am planning on upgrading to three R11 bye players (this week and before R12), none of which Tamuhawk has: Beams, BSmith and Birchall. Do you not like any of those options Rowsus?

thanks for that analysis, very helpful
i do have an aggressive strategy for the next 3 weeks and have come out with two options overall

the first would see me use 6 trades and have a complete team with wallis as the final mid to be upgraded at some point

OR i could use 7 trades, get ollie wines in this week, who also has a low ownership % and complete my team with him as final mid
So the main scenario is whether to bring in Wallis or Wines today and whether that extra trade used is worth it hmmm

Guess the captaincy option also will play a huge role
Thanks again

Strong point :) I jumped on bringing in BSmith given that I think Oxley could miss the cut/be a sub/score poorly again. Birchall and Beams look like R12 upgrades, so I'm considering going Rocky to Amon to bring in more cash.

They weren't among the options Tamu put up for consideration.
I think Beams is a really good pick, I think Smith represents really good value, but I have doubts about him achieving the levels hoped for and expected of him, at the start of the season.
Birchall can score well, but has a lot competitors for that rebounding role at Hawthorn, plus what Goodie said.
