Hi Rowsus, first question of 2020 for me (I think!). What are your thoughts on Jack Riewoldt as a selection? He’s had a terrible start to the year averaging 40, priced at around 270k odd now.

Assuming he averages 70-75 for the year, he averages 80-85 from here on which doesn’t seem too bad at his price. Does he interest you at all? Or is his terrible start enough of a red flag?
Keen to hear your thoughts.
Hi B18,
while he would generally be considered a mid to high 80's player, he did only go 10/69 last season. At nearly 32 years old, it does raise the question, is he cooked?
To me there are only 2 scenarios you'd bring him.
You are pretty sure you are not going to complete your team, and you want grab him as a value POD, that might loophole at F6/7.
You have used less than 6 or 7 trades, and think he might go on a run, and you can use him as a Stepping Stone. Even with that many trades used, I think a Stepping Stone is too risky, even in this season. His 10/69 last season breaks up as 3/103 and 7/54. He's currently priced to what 7 out of his 10 games averaged last season. Old, injury risk, unreliable scoring, I really think there'd be better punts to take.

Hi Slammer,
I think there are some half decent Cows available this Round. With your lack of cash producers, I think you should be grabbing at least one of them this round. Green, Hill, Serong, Xerri, Mahony, Bennell.
Thanks Rows
I will see who gets named
Just another quick question
What are you thoughts on Laird at his price now?

I would defer to any Tiges fans or closer watchers, but I am pretty sure his role must have changed with Lynch coming in. JRoo’s average scoring seems to be notably lower post Lynch, and I’m less sure he can go on a big run for you.

Has been an all time great for the Tiges but would say his SC relevancy has definitely passed. On top of his age and potential role change with Lynch coming in I think another factor would be his priorities. He has a young family now and given he has 2 flags, 3 Colemans and a bucket full of goals his legacy as a Tigers great is set. Only takes a little of that hunger for the game to fade and suddenly there is a drastic drop off for that player.
Brings to point the fact that we may have to consider how some Victorian players will perform leaving their families behind for a month or so to head interstate. Dangerfield is one that stands out to me given his young family.

Didn't Kelly take his family with him to the hub? Think some of the Storm players did in the NRL too. Guessing it will happen with others with family, if they want.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and everyone else for sharing theirs as well!

Upon further thought, it seems like maybe Darling or Steven could be better options. It will be interesting to see how JRoo fares in hindsight however

Yes he did. And two other West Coast players I believe.
Many of the players wives and partners wouldn't be able to head to the hubs I assume due to work commitments or their kids' going to school after term holidays.
Probably won't affect most players, but it is something I'm considering when looking at who to trade in.

Hi again Rows!

I'm sure that I'm not the only one in a spot of bother this week. Players being injured and players getting dropped have caused my team to look like something a kid from kindergarten put together just for fun!

So before I do something drastic with my trades tomorrow night, I wanted to get your opinion on what would be the most sensible/effective trades to make.

As it currently stands: 23 trades left, $23.9k cash in bank

Before Noble got dropped and Brander got injured, I was thinking of getting rid of Houston for S.Hill and C.Taylor for Petracca.
I have lost complete faith in Houston. His role has changed back to pure defense and at the moment he's just leaking money.

Fyfe is benched. Even if it takes 3 weeks for him to come back I was willing to take that risk just to save trades. Now I'm not sure what to do with him. Would you consider trading Fyfe out? If so, to who?!

All 7 trades I've made so far have been either due to injuries/omissions. Essentially all sideways trades !! :cautious::(

Assuming Rivers gets named in the 22 tomorrow, I'm now thinking of trading Noble to S.Hill and Houston to simply someone better!!! Heaps of people are jumping on Ridley but I've got no clue if that's a wise move long term. What's your opinion on him?
I want to bring Laird (so cheap at the moment) in but Adelaide have been so bad this season I dunno if it's worth owning any of their players.

Ahhh the struggle...!

Happy to help, Slammer.
Laird is still priced around 90, and averaging 88, and BE around 88.
Adelaide are just playing too poorly to be true. And to be honest, until they show some sort of turn around, I'm not sure I want to take on any of their players.

Hi Rumb,
I'm in the hold Fyfe/made too many injury trades/own Houston boat, too. I guess we just cross our fingers and hope he only misses 2 games.
I'm not a Hill fan, given his injury history, but given you plonked on Bennell, it seems it's a risk you are willing to take. Noble to Hill seems ok to me. I'd be inclined to just wear the donut if Rivers isn't picked. I'm in the same boat, and that's what I'm doing. Don't change plans to save yourself from a 50 point donut.
It comes down to how much Houston is paining you. I have just decided to live with him, for now. I have a feeling we are going to get to a point in the season, where Houston's scoring will equal or beat Ridley's, and you might wonder why you made the trade!
As I say, it comes down to hom much pain Houston is causing you. If it's a lot, then Houston to Ridley appears to be your best escape option. Like you, and like I posted just above, I don't want to touch Adelaide players at the moment.
Good luck. :)

Hey Rowan,

Trust you are well.

I'm after a bit of inspiration, in a fairly inspiring season, lol.

Team:
20200703_075703.jpg 20200703_075617.jpg

Original plan was Howe to Mitchell/Bont and BZT to Green (via Brander and Mahoney), but that's all out the window.

Howe, Noble, Brander plus Williams and BZT all out has made things tricky, lol.

Option 1 Howe to Ridley, BZT to Hill/Young

Option 2 Howe to Lloyd, BZT/Noble to Hill/Young

Option 3 Howe to Young, BZT to Hill heaps of cash for double up next week.

Or Howe up to Lloyd?

I guess the other consideration is Hibberd/Bennell will be on bubble next week potentially.

As I said, really lacking inspiration any thoughts as to the best way forward would be greatly appreciated ?

Hey Ash,
I'm well thanks, and I hope you are too.
Hill's not one I'm pushing up big for, but your situation might be the exception. With neither Starcevich or Rivers, Hill might be your best option, and at least completes a swing set for you. Whether you use BZT or Noble is an even tougher question. It seems that Noble might be back quicker, and is more likely of the two to pump out a 90-95 to get a kick start to cash gen. Against that, it's possible BZT, if/when he makes it back in, might have the potential to generate more cash from here on in. If I had to plonk for one, I'd say you have held BZT this far, go Noble ---> Hill. I'm guessing Howe owners were looking for him to be a solid top 3 or 4 Def this season. That being the case, a like for like swap to lloyd seems the best option.
Young did get his 109 last week, but 2 points. It looked like one of those highly inflated scores we're seeing this season, and his other 2 scores were only 41 & 41. You don't want to bring in a potential 50 point rookie at $223k.
I've got my eye on Mitchell too, but want him to get past this game against the Giant and MDB before I bring him in.
Good luck :)

Cheers Rowan,

I am well, bit sick of working from home with the kids on school holidays, lol.

I tend to agree, probably best to go Howe to Lloyd and one of BZT/Noble to Hill. I guess that is the other problem that I was feeling is lack of good rookies. BZT, Williams, Cameron, Pickett and Comben sitting doing noting cash generation is a key problem. Having missed on Stacevich and Rivers whist holding BZT and Williams if ringing alarm bells loudly. May also just take my medicine this week and hold Howe and reassess next week.

Thanks for taking the time to respond!

Hi Rowsus

I think this is a simple question. Is Whitfield a MUST HAVE? I am sure there are others who will be asking this question too

Thanks in advance
He's not a must have, well not in my eyes, anyway. Everyone sees it differently.
What I do see, is a player with a suspect game count, but good scoring history, priced at 85 ($441,200). with a BE of 78. I'm willing to jump on at that price. If he can PIT return 95, then he's been a good trade in at that price.
Past 3 seasons: 16/111, 22/100, 15/98.

Hi Rowsus, I am a poor suffering soul without any of Grundy, Gawn or Neale in my side. With these blokes consistency, I am running out of time/opportunity to bring them in, and each 150 score they put up sucks a little more enjoyment from my season (a little dramatic, but you get the idea)!

My question is, should I be making it a priority to get these blokes in where I can at their current prices, or just keep upgrading my team hoping for them to have one or two done games....or will I be waiting the entire season?

Thanks in advance
