Yeah i agree, i think he's one of those player that if you don't start with him, you've gotta avoid. The thing with Buddy is he's bound to throw out a couple of monster in a row and tempt everyone by making him think "He's back!". Think you've gotta remember he's still a KPF rollercoaster and if you're not willing to ride it from the start there's no point jumping on halfway through.
I would appreciate it if buddy could pull out those couple of monster games in the next few rounds please :)

Is that too much to ask for? ;)

I know your not a huge fan of Kolidasjni and neither am I but I need a def rookie this week an already have
Langdon, Langford, Georgiou, and McDonald.
Options are Kolidasjni, B Martin, Ashby and Cutler.
Hesitant going to Martin because I traded him instead of Hurn out last week for McDonald.
Don't necessarily need an onfield player but need decent JS.

Who would you choose Rowscus?

Currenlty Goldstein isn't producing the scores I want from him and he losing a bit of cash. I am weary he is probably still playing with that sore shoulder which in a few weeks should be completely gone.

I picked him to be a top 3 ruck at end of year but now after 3 games I am not so sure.

Basically what would you do knowing what you know?

1 - Keep Goldy
2 - Trade Goldy, if so what strategy would you take.
i) Downgrade to McIntosh - free up $200k
ii) Downgrade to Derickx (if selected, and loophole him and Currie for R2) - free up 400k
iii) Swap him now to a potential keeper in Mumford/NicNat/McEvoy
iv) Swap him after Round 4 to a potential keeper in Mumford/NicNat/McEvoy
v) Swap to Minson now
vi) Swap to Minson after Round 4

Mumford looks to have produced 3 monsters early and obviously history suggests this won't continue (nor will you get 22 games from him), McIntosh isn't a keeper and is probably due a rest soon but is producing comparable Goldy scores and would free up some interim cash for upgrading moo'ing rookies, NicNat is currently underdone as you have already suggested and his price is going the wrong way currently. McEvoy missed last week so is an unknown this week, Minson I could trade up too but would prefer to wait a week as he is expected another price drop also and I am pretty sceptical on his long term prospects.

Not keen on trading premiums but necessity might make it happen.

I'm in the same boat with Goldy. The R1 shoulder knock was just unfortunate for us SC'ers, but Im still persisting with him. Ave 87 is not ideal when paying him at ceiling price - but you paid to keep him for the year. Hopefully there's a turn of form around the corner and pumps out a 120+ (similarly to Buddy who I also held on)

But if you are tempted to trade Goldy, I would only do it if it was a double trade to improve another weaker area (free up cash/upgrade). Whilst Goldy will continue to dip abit in value - it's not that bad compared to a Swan, Griffen, Petrie, Cloke, Walters sort of plummet.

Hi Rowsus

I have Lobbe and Caddy with $135,900 in the bank.

Option 1: Trade Lobbe to Mumford /Cox leaving $20K in the bank.

Option 2: Trade Lobbe to Jacobs (av:98) and leave Caddy with $117,000 in the bank.

Option 3: Trade Lobbe to HMac and Caddy to Parker leaving $70,600 in the bank

Option 4: Trade Lobbe to HMac and leave Caddy with $223,900 in the bank.

I was hoping that HMac could survive till the byes where I could possibly trade him to NicNat (if he finds form). If HMac went down and I did not have enough cash in the bank then my trades would be limited (pure speculation of course).

I have Wingard and he is having a test on his ankle. If he was to not play or be a late withdrawal, Parker would fill the void with Wingard not playing. So instead of having Caddy and say Impey on the field, I would have Parker and Impey.

I welcome your comments.

Think this might be my first post here - Rowsus mate, you are in legendary status in my eyes. you answer everyone and give and honest opinion. appreciate this space, i read it daily.

only minior question - got mr wingard being out for a week with port apparently taking a no risk aproach and will give him the week off as it would seem (might get named?)
anyway, no way is trading an option. i'll use my bench cover; the problem!

i would normally be able to loop one out of rohan or JKH. problem is the dees and port play at the same time sat arvo. (looping with chad)

who would you start (obvisouly if one isn't the sub) if they hypothetically were both named and not sub who would you roll the dice with?

my team:

D: swallow, simpson, watts, mcdonald, langdon, laidler, georgiou, langford
M: GAJ, pendles, watson, JPK, m.thomas, tyson, dunstan, polec, ellis, cunningham
R: sandi, hickey, currie, king
F: danger, dusty, wingard,t.mitchell, wright, caddy, rohan, JKH

Thanks Rowsus, if you have time can you have a glance at my team and see if I have any glaring mistakes or issues I should fix this week, my thinking was to generate some cash this week to upgrade to prem mid next week, as I will also have Fyfe coming back so looking at big score next weeek?

Thanks mate.
Hi Juzzo,
I can't see any glaring problems that must be solved this week. You might keep an eye on Dahlhaus and Caddy in the coming weeks though.
Good luck :)

If those are the choices, and JS is the main goal, I'd go KK.

It's a tough decision. When do you jump off that Premium that is leaking cash? In this particular case I think unless you have lost all faith in Goldstein being a top 3 or 4 Ruck this season, you just hold on to him. If you have lost all faith, then you have to ask yourself a couple of questions:
Do you think it is possible right now to say who the top 3 or 4 Rucks will be this season?
If the answer is no, remembering this based on you losing all faith in Goldy, then your best option is to go to the cheapest Ruck, with good JS and scoring potential. To me, that leaves out Derickx. It really leaves you HMac or Hickey.
If the answer is yes, then you need to try and save a future trade, and get to one of those 3 or 4 players.
Personally, while I would be disappointed with Goldy too, I don't think Currie will last long, and I'd stick with him. I can understand why you are nervous, and want to jump off though, and it's probably one of the tougher decisions you'll face this season.
Good luck :)

Thanks Rowsus - it seems the safe option is to hold tight with Goldstein now and just hope this 'cold streak' coincides with Mumfords 'hot streak'.

Obviously Goldstein is a fair warrior (playing with that shoulder) so fingers crossed we can pencil him in to not miss a game this season and hopefully those who don't have him get some donuts/burn some trades along the way through injuries.

Thanks for your input as always, appreciated.

Rowsus,
Is Sam Gibson SC relevant?
Nice scores last couple, played 22 games last year, in his 3rd year. Most of Norths SC focus on Cunnington, Ziebel, Basti, NDS, etc?
Would like to hear your opinion.

Cheers

That's easy to answer (at least without stats). Gibson is one for dreamteam only. Rather limited and horrible disposal efficiency.

Eventually, when North become a top four contender, he wont be in their midfield (Swallow, JZ, Bastinac, Cunnington, McKenzie, McDonald, MacMillan, FWD/DEF mid rotation)

DJ's right, he is more DT relevant. There are players like Gibson, and Grigg at Richmond, that can average above 20 disposals a game, but rarely convert them into good SC scores. I'd leave Gibson alone.

Rowsus,

Can I get your opinion on Josh Kelly vs. B Crouch vs. Laidler vs. K Kolo

I have Viv Michie I would like to trade out. I am leaning towards B Crouch due to his $ but I am worried about his JS. Laidler or K Kolo would create a M/D link which could be useful later on.

I have Dunstan, Tyson, Polec, Ellis, Langdon (D), McDonald (D) & D Buckley as Mid or Mid/Def Rookies.

Thanks in advance.

jack watts.... I don't have any major concerns with my team, is watts a necessary corrective trade?
i'm unsure if he will hit a big score to make up for poor ones

Gday Rowsus, just regarding the round 8 byes, I can currently field 18 including Georgiou, Langford, Impey and JKH and am expecting at least one of them to not be playing for their respective sides come round 8. My question is whether its worth trading Enright (rd8) to Hibberd (r10) if I think Hibberd will average slightly higher for the year with a better bye? Age also comes into play. Cheers.

G'day Rowsus,

A little puzzled on this one.

My current team is:

B:Mitchell, McVeigh, Jaensch, Swallow, Langdon, McDonald (Laidler, Langford)
M:Ablett, Libba, Murphy, Beams, Dunstan, Polec, Tyson, Ellis (J.MARTIN, V.MICHIE)
R: Minson, Sandi (Thurlow, Currie)
F: Danger, Martin, Pav, Zorko, Caddy, Higgins (Rohan, JHK)

28 trades ($124K)

Obviously have to get rid of Martin and Vichie but question is how?
Do I :
A) Trade Martin to Kelly and Michie to either Buckley/Taylor? Leaves me around $169K
B) Trade Martin to Buckley and Michie to Taylor leaving me around $248K for possible Caddy upgrade next week
or
C) Martin to Taylor and Caddy to a Parker or Buddy leaving me around $90K

Leaning towards option B so I can reassess which fwd upgrade to choose after this round but do I really need Kelly?
Do you think Kelly can produce the scores where I can justify in bringing him in even though I have some good mid rookies already?
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated
Cheers

Hi Rowsus,

Wondering your thoughts on the best time to try and get in the likes of Hanley and McVeigh??
Premium defenders who I haven't started with and both share a round 10 bye.

This question here leads me to my next question also. Thoughts on Laidler's JS, if KK is really a necessary player considering his $$ and should I wait another week on Matt Crouch before trading him in??

I do presume Couch Coach is talking about Matt Crouch as well and not his brother Brad :)
