This question here leads me to my next question also. Thoughts on Laidler's JS, if KK is really a necessary player considering his $$ and should I wait another week on Matt Crouch before trading him in??

I do presume Couch Coach is talking about Matt Crouch as well and not his brother Brad :)
These same questions came into my head this week too.

Don't think KK is a necessary player at all but saying that I will probebly trade him in this week over Cutler and Gardener because of his JS.
I think you should wait a week with Crouch especially because Sherringham and Gordan get their second go but more importantly Robertson and Cripps are coming in after huge games in the seconds

Edit: Oops didn't realise this was the questions for Rowscus thread. Hope it helps anyway. I'll be interested in what he has to say also.

Thanks for that mate, very helpful. It is good that there is a few MID rookies popping up as downgrade option atm for the coming weeks.

Oh great one, can I get your opinion on who to trade in for hurn this week. Have bulk cash so anyone is on the table however dont want round 8 players.

My thoughts are Simpson, Hanley, McVeigh probably in that order.

Simpson - will he continue to struggle in lots of losses this year, has played ok but SC scores have been harsh

Hanley - like him but worried about Brisbane draw but have already got a couple of tough ones out of the way, also Rich going down could cause more tags for him.

McVeigh - Thought last year was just too high for him to maintain so has come down to realistic value but would prefer to buy him cheaper.

Please can i have your input or anyone else's input that is willing

Hi Rowsus

I have Lobbe and Caddy with $135,900 in the bank.

Option 1: Trade Lobbe to Mumford /Cox leaving $20K in the bank.

Option 2: Trade Lobbe to Jacobs (av:98) and leave Caddy with $117,000 in the bank.

Option 3: Trade Lobbe to HMac and Caddy to Parker leaving $70,600 in the bank

Option 4: Trade Lobbe to HMac and leave Caddy with $223,900 in the bank.

I was hoping that HMac could survive till the byes where I could possibly trade him to NicNat (if he finds form). If HMac went down and I did not have enough cash in the bank then my trades would be limited (pure speculation of course).

I have Wingard and he is having a test on his ankle. If he was to not play or be a late withdrawal, Parker would fill the void with Wingard not playing. So instead of having Caddy and say Impey on the field, I would have Parker and Impey.

I welcome your comments.
Hi Lobo,
The table I produced at Round 4 Trade Tables suggests the ship might have sailed on Mumford, unless you think he can play nearly every game, and have a 118+ season. That being the case, HMac seems like the best option, as you want the cheapest Ruck, with good JS, that can still produce points.
I too have Caddy and Wingard, and will just bench Wingard this week, Forcing me to choose between Impey and Taylor on the ground (leaning towards Impey with Wingard out.) I can understand people losing patience with Caddy, I'm prepared yo give him another week or two, but if you are confident of Parker being top 8-10 Fwd from here to the end, than Caddy ---> Parker isn't worst option.
Good luck :)

Think this might be my first post here - Rowsus mate, you are in legendary status in my eyes. you answer everyone and give and honest opinion. appreciate this space, i read it daily.

only minior question - got mr wingard being out for a week with port apparently taking a no risk aproach and will give him the week off as it would seem (might get named?)
anyway, no way is trading an option. i'll use my bench cover; the problem!

i would normally be able to loop one out of rohan or JKH. problem is the dees and port play at the same time sat arvo. (looping with chad)

who would you start (obvisouly if one isn't the sub) if they hypothetically were both named and not sub who would you roll the dice with?

my team:

D: swallow, simpson, watts, mcdonald, langdon, laidler, georgiou, langford
M: GAJ, pendles, watson, JPK, m.thomas, tyson, dunstan, polec, ellis, cunningham
R: sandi, hickey, currie, king
F: danger, dusty, wingard,t.mitchell, wright, caddy, rohan, JKH

346k remaining
jack watts.... I don't have any major concerns with my team, is watts a necessary corrective trade?
i'm unsure if he will hit a big score to make up for poor ones
Hi Torress,
thanks for the kind words. :)
If I had to start one of Rohan or JKH I'd probably start Rohan, even though JKH's time has been restricted, his output has been pretty substandard when he has been on the field. This isn't surprising for a small Forward in a struggling team, with no good tall Forwards to help him.
I agree Watts could be a worry. Hanley's B/E is very low, so his price should rise this week, you could trade to him, or if you are a risk taker, Hooker or Carlisle look well priced, with low B/E's too.
Good luck :)

Rowsus,

Can I get your opinion on Josh Kelly vs. B Crouch vs. Laidler vs. K Kolo

I have Viv Michie I would like to trade out. I am leaning towards B Crouch due to his $ but I am worried about his JS. Laidler or K Kolo would create a M/D link which could be useful later on.

I have Dunstan, Tyson, Polec, Ellis, Langdon (D), McDonald (D) & D Buckley as Mid or Mid/Def Rookies.

Thanks in advance.
CC,
I'm sure you realise it M Crouch, not B Crouch you are considering.
If Laidler makes it through, and isn't vested I'd go him. It's a tough call, as there are arguments against each. Kelly would be my 2nd choice. It's a pit Crouch didn't show us a Little more. He could be the best pick, but I don't like recommending him with only one game under his belt.
Good luck :)

Good sir,

Should have addressed this last week, but with BOTH McEvoy AND Dixon still out, it's going to be another week of a ruck donut, unless I trade one out!!!

Do we know which one is likely to be back first? Thoughts on which one to trade out? Already have Sandilands in RUCK, and Martin, Dangerfield, Gray and Franklin in FWD.

Gday Rowsus, just regarding the round 8 byes, I can currently field 18 including Georgiou, Langford, Impey and JKH and am expecting at least one of them to not be playing for their respective sides come round 8. My question is whether its worth trading Enright (rd8) to Hibberd (r10) if I think Hibberd will average slightly higher for the year with a better bye? Age also comes into play. Cheers.

G'day dyii
No that seems like a bad idea. Yes, you need to fix your rnd 8 situation, but you will be/should be trading "good" trades before then. Keep an eye on your bye balance as you do those trades.

G'day Rowsus,

A little puzzled on this one.

My current team is:

B:Mitchell, McVeigh, Jaensch, Swallow, Langdon, McDonald (Laidler, Langford)
M:Ablett, Libba, Murphy, Beams, Dunstan, Polec, Tyson, Ellis (J.MARTIN, V.MICHIE)
R: Minson, Sandi (Thurlow, Currie)
F: Danger, Martin, Pav, Zorko, Caddy, Higgins (Rohan, JHK)

28 trades ($124K)

Obviously have to get rid of Martin and Vichie but question is how?
Do I :
A) Trade Martin to Kelly and Michie to either Buckley/Taylor? Leaves me around $169K
B) Trade Martin to Buckley and Michie to Taylor leaving me around $248K for possible Caddy upgrade next week
or
C) Martin to Taylor and Caddy to a Parker or Buddy leaving me around $90K

Leaning towards option B so I can reassess which fwd upgrade to choose after this round but do I really need Kelly?
Do you think Kelly can produce the scores where I can justify in bringing him in even though I have some good mid rookies already?
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated
Cheers
G'day Slammer,
I like option B as well. I'm still not sold on Kelly. I'm worried last weeks was only against Melbourne, and he may not be able to justify he his high price.
Good luck :)

Hi Rowsus

Thanks for your help yesterday. I went Michie to Lewis Taylor and it gave me the money to go Caddy to Franklin (I'm a good saver :)). Taylor has a Rnd 10 bye, seems to have job security with Rich going down and Ryan Lester being ommitted and I can move him forward if a better mid rookie comes up and get rid of Impey or Rohan who are slow mooers. I've been disappointed with Caddy in a winning side and even though I think he can get better he doesn't look like a keeper and Franklin's price has actually gone down from the start of the year and should only go up. I was waiting for Franklin to fire up before picking him and he did last week and he has a Rnd 10 bye so my Rnd 8 team is looking much better. I know Buddy is a rollercoaster but am willing to take the ride.

I have quite the dilemma around McEvoy. I had planned to trade Caddy to J Merrett but with McEvoy out again I am thinking whether I should be trading him for Mumford. I can only do one as I have another trade locked in.

I have Derickx for ruck cover.

Hi Rowsus,

Wondering your thoughts on the best time to try and get in the likes of Hanley and McVeigh??
Premium defenders who I haven't started with and both share a round 10 bye.
I'd be looking at Hanley in Rnd 11, and McVeigh Rnd 15. I'm still not 100% sold on McVeigh being a must have. 90% sold, but not 100%.
Hanleys price could be the lowest it's going to be before round 18, just after his bye. I'm worried Mcveigh's last season was a spike, and his scoring will be unreliable this year. I like the idea of leaving him to later, just to be sure.

This question here leads me to my next question also. Thoughts on Laidler's JS, if KK is really a necessary player considering his $$ and should I wait another week on Matt Crouch before trading him in??

I think Laidlers JS is ok, but not great, There is no way KK is a must have, and if you want M Crouch it would be a good idea to wait a week. I'm never a fan of getting Rookies before the bubble. I think you only do it if it is your only choice to avoid a donut, or facilitates a Premuim in on another trade that same week, that you couldn't achieve without the pre-bubble boy. I guess the third option is, if you know you need the 2 trades next week, and the Rookie isn't one of them.

No need to "oops", I don't mind if people give their opinions here too. I pretty much said the same thing anyway. :)

Hey Rowsus,
Who you would trade in for Caddy out of: Rioli, Parker, Zorko Breust and Merrett?
Given I'm 85% likely to bring in Rioli this week (for JKH, I have Caddy too, but will give him another week or two).
I'll say - Rioli, Parker, Zorko, Breust, Merrett in that order. Merrett looks exciting, but unless you are reasonably confident he can hold down F6, you are just committing yourself to another upgrade trade. If you do have some confidence he can be F6, jump on board :)
