He should be down to $613k, with a B/E of ~173.
I was hoping he'd beat his B/E tonight, and that would just about put him out of reach of those Coaches that didn't have him.
Now nearly everyone with space and trades will have him in the next 2 or 3 weeks!
Oh well! :)
I actually had Kieran Jack ahead of Dangerfield in my list...

Hey Rowsus,
If I finish the season ranked 2500th and 4th in SCS Div3, what league approximately would I be in next year? :)

Hello Rowsus. My name is Zim. not sure if you have ever noticed me but I have a question.

I now have 4 trades left and $40,700. I'm thinking one will be a downgrade then 3 for injuries or a better premium.

I can save the drop with Vlastuin and bring in X.Richards who links up with Staker. But I'd probably prefer to hold onto Vlastuin and downgrade Thurlow for less change. That seemed most likely for me.

I also have Crouch and Mitchell as MID cover. Which is only useful if I have a 1 week injury. And I cant loophole them either. I'm thinking it may be worth letting Crouch fatten up another week and perhaps downgrade him to a donut. A D/M or M/F. I can also trade crouch out, move vlastuin in mid and bring in a D/F. Which DPP do you think would be most useful?

I'm not sure if I remember seeing you around or not.......
I'll try and help you anyway! :)

Right now, as your team is sitting, you have this coverage;
Def: Vlastuin, Thurlow
Mid: Mitchell, Crouch
Ruc:Nicholls, Currie
Fwd: Staker, Hitchcock
Not terrible, but no connecting DPP's on your bench either.

Bringing Richards in for Thurlow seems ok, and changes it to:
Def: Vlastuin, Staker, Richards
Mid: Mitchell, Crouch
Ruc:Nicholls, Currie
Fwd: Staker, Hitchcock
So now you are covered if you have 2 outs in Def, and have made a little cash for upgrades.

If you take Crouch out instead, and move Vlastuin up, it becomes:
Def: DPP?, Thurlow
Mid: Mitchell, Vlastuin
Ruc:Nicholls, Currie
Fwd: Staker, Hitchcock
Now you still have 2 Mids covered, and unless the DPP is M/Ddonut, you still can't loophole Mitchell.
You actually have one less piece of coverage, as Vlastuin is filling the coverage of M10/D7, but have more cash to play with. If the DPP isn't M/D, you actually only have cover for: Goddard, Heppell, Gibbs, and no cover for Shaw, Terlich and Hanley. That's not good.
If the DPP is D/F, Staker has to cover all your Fwd's, AND half your back line! That might be stretching it too far!

If you leave Vlastuin in Def, and downgrade Crouch to a DPP, you lose a "halfman" coverage in your Mids. Staker or Vlastuin, if they aren't already required on their own line, can help cover an extra Mid out.
If you did that in conjunction with Thurlow to Richards, you actually only lose a 1/4 of a man's coverage in the Mids, as well as gaining half a man in you Def's.
No matter what you do, Staker is your only Fwd coverage, so relying on him as the extra man in Mid and or Def will potentially stretch you a bit, so keeping a trade until late in the season seems wise.
It's a toss up. If you trade out Thurlow you only get enough cash for 1 upgrade, so you are sitting on 2 "spare" trades. If you trade out Crouch, your coverage becomes a bit thinner, but you have the cash for 2 upgrades.
I tend to think aggression beats caution, most of the time. So I'm leaning towards Crouch out, to M/D donut.
It's a tough one.
good luck :)

Hi Rowsus,

Not sure if you will get this in time for trades but I thought I would ask anyway.

4 trades and 11k before any this week.

Goddard,Gibbs,Duffield,McKenzie,Heppell,Hanley (Brown,Thurlow)

Ablett, Pendles,Swan,Watson,JPK,Cotch, Deledio,Selwood (Mitchell,Viney)

Nick Nat,Nicholls (Gawn,McBean)

Cox,Martin,Buddy,JJK,Bartel,Rocky (Stalker,Rowe)

Not sure what way to go this week. Going for highest possible ranking so quite happy going down to 2 trades this week.

Option A (Aggressive) (if Buddy is out)

Watson to Harvey and Buddy to Minson

2 trades No cash left.

Option B

Thurlow to Richards and Watson to SJ

2 trades and around 80k. This option would allow Stalker to cover back and forwards.

Option C

Do you know if if would be possible some how to trade Watson out for Minson (via Rocky, McBean etc)

I would appreciate your thoughts on the best option for this team.

Thanks in advance.

Hey Rowsus,

Don't worry about Option C proposed above as Option A is the same thing.

Still interested in your thoughts otherwise though.

Hi Rowsus,
I was just wondering if you were able to analyse my team and give me a bit of feedback. I am going to trade Watson to either Jack or ROK before their lockout. I was also thinking of maybe downgrading Crouch to Atkins (M/F DPP) so I can loophole and then maybe when Watson is back I might trade Fyfe or Priddis back to Watson. However this will only leave me with Mitchell as cover in the Mids. What do you think?

Hi Deeman1,
sorry for getting to this too late. I'm usually up by around 6.30am (2.30pm Melbourne time) on a Saturday, but slept in today.
Answering the last bit first. No you can't do a single trade of Watson to Minson. The only way that would be possible, is if you had Blicavs in your Ruck to shift into your Mids when Watson was traded out. I really hope they fix this one step "flexibility" next season. Then you could do it by just shuffling 2 of your DPP's.
While it is too late, because Hawthorn have already played, let me say both options look ok.
Trading Buddy out is obviously very risky, even though he missed today. I am never keen to tell people to trade out players that can rip out a 200+ score. Having said that, I'd back Minson to outscore Buddy through to the end of the season. Harvey gives you a little POD value, too.
I guess the bottom line is: Will SJ, Buddy and slightly improved Def coverage outscore Minson and Harvey?
Keeping in mind, assuming Richards doesn't play too often, he only adds "half" a mans coverage to your Def, as Staker could be needed in your Fwd's in the same week.
It's a line ball call, but given Buddy's history of missing games, maybe the Buddy out option is the best one.
Studying your team, I can't see any great leftfield options to throw up for you, which disappoints me. I usually like to try and find a leftfield option for people to consider.
Which ever way you jumped, I hope it worked out, and sorry once again that my reply wasn't more timely. :)

Hi Termi,
I'm still bleeding from that 1 point loss to you, due to Shaw's scaling!
First on ROK and Jack. Both are good options, I just think Jack's consistency gives him the edge. ROK has more WOW factor, but Jack gives you the goods more often.

I think I'd down grade Crouch to a M/D DPP, and upgrade Thurlow when you can. I think that gives you better Mid and Def coverage. A M/F DPP loses his use, if you need Staker in your Fwd line.
Given you want to use it as loophole tool, Prudden looks the best option. Most of the Bulldogs games are scheduled late through to the end of the season.
If you can upgrade Thurlow, you get to use Prudden in both lines to loophole with Vlastuin. It could help remove scores like Terlich's score today.
Sorry my response wasn't more timely.
Good luck :)

Thanks for the feedback Rowsus.

To date I have erred on the caution side and have not jumped either way.

Given that Browns 90 odd covers Duffield this week.

I have Stalker on the field for Buddy and Rowe and Gawn have the (e).

Will hold Watson for now and depending how Mitchell goes tomorrow might go Watson to Priddis if the need arises.

If you have any more thoughts please let me know.

Thanks again.

Sorry Goodies. I've been back and forth to my computer all morning, and missed this one.
I would have said bench Ryder.
I hope it works out for you! :)

I have two questions Rowsus. 1. Being in Denmark how did you find out about SCS and 2. Who are the top 5 most inconsistent players in Super Coach over the past 2 seasons.

What are the correct %s for video technology improving the accuracy in AFL and cricket rather than the biased opinions of the governing bodies? I'd say 0% as they create as many wrong decisions as they correct.

I have two questions Rowsus. 1. Being in Denmark how did you find out about SCS and 2. Who are the top 5 most inconsistent players in Super Coach over the past 2 seasons.
1. I was reading a preview about the 2012 SC season, on the Herald-Sun website. In that article it mentioned Jay, and there was some mention of this site, as well. I found it from there. I think the site was only about 1 month old when I found it. I had visited other SC sites, but quickly got bored with them. While some had good insights, there was too much rubbish, and personal sniping in between. It was sort of hard work to find the useful things amongst all the bad things, so I quickly gave up on them. No trouble like that here. :)

2. Very subjective, and everyone will have a different, valid opinion. I think you need to set at least some parameters. I'm going to exclude players with under 50 games played, and under 28 games in the last 2 seasons. Players can be up down while still establishing their role in the team, and players that miss a lot of games usually have a lot of sub and injury affected scores. I'm choosing to take the question as, they are inconsistent, but play most weeks, and have a few games under their belts.

For consistency of being inconsistent, you can't beat Bellchambers! Nearly the same number of games, in each of the main score Groups! Large standard deviations would seem to be the fairest way of measuring who is inconsistent. For players who fit the criteria I set above, you might find it hard to pick some players who have larger standard deviations.
Good question, SC Fanatic :)

I actually think that it can be an aid, but they have to learn to use it properly.
They also have to use it absolutely, or not all.
That is easier in cricket, than football.
Take it out of the Captain's hands in cricket, and put it all in the 3rd umpire's hands. With technology today, there is time enough for the third umpire to look at all appeals, like Broad's in this test, before the next ball is bowled. It would literally take seconds to see that Broad hit that.
There is also time for him to check on no balls etc for every decision an umpire gives as an out. They just have to choose to give him the Pictures and the power that quickly.
In football, they have to start using synchronised camera Pictures in reviews. There was one the other day, where one angle showed the ball was touched, but you couldn't tell if it was over line first or not. The second angle was inconclusive, because you couldn't see directly when the player touched the ball. The goal stood, as that was the goal umpires decision. If you rolled both tapes simultaneously, one showed when he touched it, the other where he touched it. It was before the line. Each tape on it's own was inconclusive, but rolled as one, there was no doubt.
Do all, or nothing, and do it properly. The methods now are just making everyone, and everything look bad.
