I think clubs have actually known about this for a while, even if some of the articles were saying clubs have been notified today, etc.

I got a few whispers through about this change coming in a couple of weeks back now.

Also Hawks wise, with list lodgement being tomorrow expect an announcement on Harry Jones being delisted at some stage, and Dyl Moore to get a contract, he potentially falls into the above category from what I've heard, they were still deciding whether he would be moved to the rookie list or whether he'd be senior list, just depending on how many national draft selections we decide we want to take.
Not too far off the mark.

Jones and Walker delisted, Moore delisted but promised a rookie list spot, Brooksby re-signed and Jiath promoted to the main list.

BRISBANE has re-signed much-loved defender Ryan Lester, while teammate Mitch Hinge will walk to Adelaide as a delisted free agent as early as Thursday.

Lester has re-committed for two seasons after holding out during Trade Period to win a longer extension off a superb season in defence.

The 28-year-old played 15 of the Lions' 19 games and was once again included in the club's leadership group.

THE WESTERN Bulldogs have cut three more players ahead of the AFL's first list lodgement deadline - and all three might end up back on the club's list in 2021.
Roarke Smith, Ben Cavarra and Will Hayes were all delisted on Wednesday and the club confirmed it would re-draft Smith in December's draft period.
The door isn't closed on Cavarra and Hayes' stints at the Kennel, either, with the Dogs considering adding the pair to the rookie list for next season.

The Dogs are too nice on their list just cut them and let them go. We always end up with the same same on the list. Hayes should be rookied and let the rest go. BRING IN NEW TALENT!

Minutes after the Lions announced their changes, the AFL confirmed the club had executed a pick swap with the the Adelaide Crows.

Brisbane sent Pick 63 to ADELAIDE, which gave the Lions Pick 66 and a future fourth-rounder (tied to Melbourne) in return.

The deal appears to be some compensation for Brisbane for losing Hinge, who’s set to sign with the Crows as a delisted free agent.

The AFL really need to rename the "Rookie List". Given you can push players with years of experience and 50+ games onto this list, it just seems to be a misnomer.
I agree that it is a misnomer and it probably should be called the supplementary list. However I think the term ”Rookie List” is part of the AFL vernacular now and I would be sad to see it change. I can live with the contradiction.
