Really different feel to this than last time where he came to a club that already had a developed list. Will be interesting to see how it goes this time, part of me hopes it's a failure to vindicate Ratten and him getting the best he could out of the list he had.
I think the backline have enough core players for him to work with and that will be the focus. From a SC viewpoint I would have a big ? against Sinclair however. Hard to know how he will be used.

Read a couple of reports that implied St K had been in contact with Lyon before the announcement of Ratten's departure. Would not surprise if the deal was done in principle first then the sacking announcement made with all the ducks lined up already.

Expect St K to improve but how much is a query. There will be some unhappy campers at St K but while the results are good they will have little leverage at first. The old guard trying to sell this as a good thing and the "new soft Ross Lyon" shows how sensitive they about going back to a guy who seems to create controversy with ease.

Lyon is a good coach. We're way too hard on coaches. Premierships are so hard to win and you need some luck. The tough bit is the politics and managing all the personalities. The board, the executive and the team of coaches is more interesting than the head coach in isolation.

GOLD Coast has delisted running defender Oleg Markov.

The 26-year-old played 28 games in his two seasons at the Suns after moving from Richmond at the end of the 2020 season.

He has played 51 career games in total.

Markov was a big part of Gold Coast's backline in 2021, with his blistering speed and want to run-and-carry helping him to 17 games, but he was in-and-out of the team for much of the past season.

He joins rookies Matt Conroy, Jez McLennan, Rhys Nicholls and Patrick Murtagh as players delisted by the club this off-season.

The Suns lost Izak Rankine (Adelaide), Jack Bowes (Geelong) and Josh Corbett (Fremantle) during the Continental Tyres AFL Trade Period, while gaining Ben Long from St Kilda and Tom Berry from Brisbane.

"Oleg has made a positive impact on the Gold Coast Suns and we are appreciative of everything he has given the club,” Gold Coast list manager Craig Cameron said.

SYDNEY has delisted injury-plagued ruckman Sam Naismith as well as small forwards Ben Ronke and James Bell.

Naismith has had a horror run with injury since joining the Swans in 2012, with his three ACL repairs restricting him to just 30 senior games in almost a decade at the club.

WEST Coast duo Zane Trew and Isiah Winder may still be at the Eagles next season despite being delisted on Monday.

In announcing Jamaine Jones has been elevated to the club's senior list, the Eagles also confirmed both Trew and Winder haven't been offered new deals, but indicated they may instead be picked up in next month's 2022 NAB AFL Rookie Draft.

Injury-plagued Trew has played just two games for the Eagles since being picked up in the 2020 rookie draft, while Winder has managed seven senior games since he was picked up at No.57 in the 2020 national draft.

"While it is disappointing for Zane and Isiah, they remain a chance to return to the club via the rookie draft at the end of November," football manager Gavin Bell said in a statement on Monday.

Jones, meanwhile, has been rewarded for a strong 2022 with a spot on the club's senior list.

Jones played seven games for Geelong before joining the Eagles as a supplementary list selection in 2020 and played 18 games this year to finish ninth in the club's best-and-fairest.

Originally a small forward, Jones has found a home as a defender at the Eagles this year.

"It is great to be able to reward Jamaine for his strong season," said football manager Gavin Bell.

"He has been a vibrant part of our group since arriving in 2020 and his adaptability was on show throughout last season."

PAUL Seedsman has been delisted by Adelaide, but the wingman is set to be retained on the rookie list.

Seedsman, 30, missed the entirety of 2022 due to the ongoing effects of a concussion suffered in pre-season.

The Crows have decided to delist the 132-gamer, but have recommitted to reselecting him in the NAB AFL Rookie Draft.

Andrew McPherson, pick No.40 in the 2017 NAB AFL Draft, is in the same position, with the Crows delisting the defender with a commitment to select him as a rookie.

Adelaide has elevated Jordon Butts and Kieran Strachan to its primary list.

Butts has played 43 AFL games, including 19 this year, while Strachan has made five appearances for Adelaide.

In quite possibly the biggest move off the off-season... West Coast has (finally!!) de-listed their strength & conditioning coach...

West Coast Eagles to replace strength and conditioning coach in coming days after horror injury run in 2022

West Coast is poised to appoint a new strength and conditioning coach in a shake up of their program to avoid another miserable injury run like the one that plagued their two-win season.

Chief executive Trevor Nisbett has addressed the club’s horror injury record, including a spate of soft tissue injuries, and says the Eagles want to prevent them next season.

The Eagles’ fitness came under the spotlight this year, with a number of players, including injured pair Elliot Yeo and Nic Naitanui slammed for being overweight.

Former strength and conditioning coach Jordan Stares has left the club for a role at the Queensland Academy of Sport.

Nisbett said the club is just days away from signing off on its new conditioning coach, who will work under high performance manager Warren Kofoed and will be in place before players return for pre-season training.

“Our strength coach has left us, so we are bringing in another conditioning person and we are looking at two or three other areas which will affect the players and their routines and what they’re doing,” he told SEN.

“It will be a different look in our high-performance area under the guidance of Warren Kofoed, Warren has been with us for a number of years and has done an outstanding job.

About time the club made a move on this... Last season in particular, but also the last several seasons have been disasters.
