Saw that. A lot of third choice rucks are going to be available for the right offers and for the next couple of years he would be behind McEvoy and Ceglar at the Hawks. He is good to have for ruck depth, but he would also have a good future at the right club - a 70+ average from his two games this year shows some up side (for comparison only 12 Blues players had a better average this year). Wouldn't be shocked to see him go, hopefully get at least decent compensation for him.

Think we are giving up too much for an uncontracted player. Was happy with just the two first round picks, but giving an extra second rounder is just that bit too much when there's some nice WA kids in the draft. Not happy at pretty much trading out of this years draft. Hopfully next years first rounder turns out to be pick 18 after we have just won the flag.

Will be great to have Kelly though, A starting midfield of Nic Nat, Kelly, Shuey, Yeo, Gaff with Redden & Sheed is pretty tasty. Very dynamic and 4 of those guys (Shuey, Yeo, Kelly & Gaff) regularly get tags, so teams can't cover them all. Should push us close to another flag next year. Boys will be hungrier after the way this year went.

One of those “it’s probably a lot, but it’s hard you’d back him to be a better player than every one of those picks”

This is classic "out of sight, out of mind" stuff. Clearly this bloke can seriously play, but from what I know, I would spew if we gave up pick 8 for him
Yeah doesn’t make a great deal of sense from the Roos standpoint I’m my view, unless they don’t think Mckay and Durdin are much chop.

Howard will be an AA CHB for you blokes if it eventuates, I have no doubt.

I did read last night that that we have tabled our second rounder, around 26, would that get it done? Mckay and durdin aren't up to it at this stage mate, not sure if they will make it. Right now we are looking at something like Tarrant, Vickers-Willis, Daw, Jmac, Williams and your boy Pittard down back. Howard helps if Daw isn't quite ready

I’ll burn the club down if he goes for a mid 2nd rounder ?. 3 years on the contract so not nearly enough I wouldn’t think. Worth a first round pick at minimum, but 8 is probably too much for him.

Might have to be a swap of picks then, but I am super keen for us to hold onto 8. Don't think we are the team to be trading away firsts just yet

I think we have done really well out of the whole Kelly saga considering.

Pretty much 2 years of service plus all those picks for 24? I think it was.

The Eagles midfield would now have to be one of, if not the best in the league, should be contenders over the next couple of years id think.

I expect a mighty rise from the Doggies next year also.

Geelong has done extremely well in the trade I think.

We really need to win another flag in the next year or two to make it worthwhile.

What do Geelong do with their picks? I thought they would be considered in a “premiership window” too.
Geelong will definitely be contending next year but losing Kelly (to another contender) and another year older for all their senior players means they desperately need youth.

In 2020 the following players will be...

Ablett - 36 (Lots of body wear & tear)
Talylor - 34
Selwood - 32 (Lots of body wear & tear)
Hawkins - 32
Tuohy - 31
Henderson - 31
Dangerfield - 30 (Lots of body wear & tear)
Stanley - 30
Z.Smith - 30
Blicavas - 29
Duncan - 29
Rohan - 29

To me... That's pretty alarming and signals a dramatic drop off in the very near future.
