I'd be careful with Houston now, he moved back to the midfield when Burton was back from injury. And now Burton is out with a quad
This was in the H/Sun on June 19th
(Rd2) ...........an impressive finish to last season in the middle, and a standout summer on the track, the classy right-footer.............But, with the injury to Burton and the Connor Rozee-Travis Boak duo firing on all cylinders in the midfield, Houston took a back seat..........
(Rd3) ........Hinkley hinted it will be Houston.......going back to help out .............It’s a pretty simple move for us...........
(Rd6 ).........Houston was playing midfield. He basically rotated in a circle around the centre square.........mainly a connector however highly effective.
(Rd7) ........his heat map is midfield role, played def I think between 4 and 5 (not sure what that means?) which is what the heat map shows...........
I appreciate all your help, also @Herbie66, it gives me motivation to dig deeper.

In summary, Houston will play midfield, unless he is required in defence, where he scored poorly,
BUT Houston can score well playing in Def (FanFooty Houston played in Defence in Rd5 117 SCpts and Rd6 109 SCpts).

Rd2 60 SCpts PTA thrashed ADE, he played in Defence
Rd3 73 SCpts PTA easy winners vs FRE, played in Defence.
Rd7 107 SCpts close game, PTA 3 pts winners vs CAR, played Midfield (I don't know what ".....heat map....played def between 4 and 5......" means?)

I'm not a stats person, but looking at the stats below, I see a pattern. Houston scored poorly when PTA won easily in Rds 1, 2, 3 & 4. and he scored well when PTA had close games and lost game, regadless if Houston played Mid or Def.
PTA next games are; STK, MEL, RIC and GEE, they don't look like easy games to me.

I still have to give it some thought to trade Houston in or not?

So Wines missed Round 1 & 2.

Rockliff missed Round 6 & 7.

Farrell came in Round 4 for Duursma so he , Duursma & Amon now rotate the wings with Mayes playing wing/7th defender.

Bonner , DBJ , Hammer play defence with the 3 talls.

So Houston is probably now in the HF/mid rotation with Boak , Butters , Ebert , Rozee & SPP.

Leaves Wines as the anchor in the middle.

And Robbie Gray to roam where he likes when he likes.

Dixon stay at home , Georgiadis & Marshall in the lead up triangulation.

Ladhams ruck.

Don't know about the role but the coaches gave him best on ground last week. With the extra trades and byes it suits me to trade him in for Williamson to give me an extra player for the byes and then upgrade to someone who has already missed a game. Fingers crossed.
That’s a better idea than what I was planning which was Starc to Egg - like it ?

King > Simpson

Will leave 45k in the back pocket to chase B. Smith next week.

Hoping to wait for confirmation on Simpson playing. Anyone know when the Monday teams are announced?
Tonight with extended bench then about 6.20ish on Saturday full teams.

I have an uncovered Simpson on field and trades complete...uncomfortable, but I'm fine with it. Geelong have a forced out and he's been playing well.

Spend all most of my cash last week getting the 'Bearded One" in.

Could have done Brander to Georgiades and Taylor to B Smith, but missed that boat the reason mainly being aside from his injury game Taylor has been one of the more reliable rookies.

So now don't realy have enough cash to do too much meaningfull. Half considered Neale to Parker and Taylor to Whitfiled, but seems a waste of trades.

So now looking likley I will just do Brander to Georgiades and increase bank to nearly $170k, may also consider McInerney to Simpson which would increase bank to $225k for Smith or Whitfiled next week.

Not sure if the second trade of McInerney to Simpson is worth it

Some background info on the Egg man, make of it what you will
Kids come from a long way back

Growing up playing for Wentworth (NSW), near Mildura, he was cut by TAC Cup club Bendigo Pioneers in back-to-back pre-seasons before winning a reprieve to play a handful of games in his 2016 draft year.

Zoned to Richmond's Next Generation Academy (NGA), the 22-year-old was, however, overlooked at the draft and made to return home.

The next season he played five VFL games for the Tigers mixed with games for Wentworth in the Sunraysia League and Fitzroy Stars in the Northern Football League.

It was enough to earn him a spot on the Tigers' Category B rookie list in November 2017 as the club's first NGA graduate.

After a fractured leg derailed much of his 2018 season, the running defender broke through for two games in 2019 before tasting VFL success.
"He hadn't played any form of state league footy or anything, hadn't been through any of the traditional pathways, so really, he was starting from a long way back," Clarke said.
"First year he came in with raw talent and for a few years, (we thought), 'Are we really going to see the best of this kid?'

"We saw glimpses of it in the VFL and he'd play some great games of footy.
"Credit to (development coaches) Ryan Ferguson and Sam Lonergan this year working really hard getting his sense of pressure and contest right.

"We knew when he got the ball in his hands he could make things happen."
In his two games replacing Bachar Houli at half-back, Eggmolesse-Smith has turned heads with his ball use and last week collected a career-high 23 disposals against North Melbourne.

But it has been his improved professionalism that has impressed the Tigers' coaching staff just as much inside the Gold Coast hub.
"We have 43 or 44 players on our list and we automatically assume when players come into the football club, they know how to live a professional lifestyle straight away," Clarke said.

"Some pick it up quicker than others who need some more work, more time and some love and care around the direction and life they need to be living.

"Certainly, Derek was one of those players. He's been up every morning at 7am, he's made a commitment to one of our conditioning guys (Greg 'Clanger' Kleynjans), they're walking laps around the oval.
"Each night after dinner he's walking more laps. If you can walk five or six laps in the morning, you're covering off 3km and you do it again at night it's another 3km at low intensity.

"It's a commitment for him to change some of his habits that may not have been helping him in the past.
"The hub has been great for him and we just hope when he does leave and go back home that he continues to do the work."

Gone Ceglar to BSmith last night, Fyfe will be my 2nd trade. I have around 4 different options on this 2nd trade depending on how my respective E goes and whether Simpkin is a late out or not.
Players under consideration includes: Ridley, Oliver, Treloar & Georgiades.

Good trades I reckon to double down. Unclear if next weeks rookies will be as good

I'm highly likely to do the McInerney trade to Simpson because McInerney looks unlikely to play through the Bye rounds (need warm bodies) and Simpson's BE is -80 and averaging 95, so he's good cover as well.
Cheers guys, highly likely I will take a hit in the rankings, but long term it is probably the best move (y)

Sounds likely that Fyfe is back next week, just saying.

I'm debating Mcinerny to either Simpson or Georgiades (via m/f swing). Given extra intial cash gen from George which will be handy next week with 3 trades, i'm keen on going him over Simpson, but his job security is the turn off.

Hi Guys,

I'm really struggling with my trades this week. I seem to have got myself in a bit of a pickle with my cash generation. Hill is my highest priced rookie at 266k.

Any advice much appreciated.

Thanks heaps

Yes...acknowledged that.
I intentionally held off trading Fyfe & Ceglar last round as I was waiting on the release of the upcoming fixture and to await further information on their respective injury. With them both sharing the RD10 bye, I've decided to move them both on to alleviate the stress on my team for that round, plus the extra 4 trades made the decision to cut them a little more easier.
