Also Will Minson averaged 131.2 in the last 4 rounds of the season. was very pleased with him for my finals.
Yeah was super happy with getting him in midseason. Played sensationally all year, but especially at the end :)

At this moment I am thinking of locking Mumford and Sons with a strong preseason. My logic is that I don't think GWS can afford to have so many tall and heavy players in their team. With the drafting of Tom Boyd (who already has a body fit for afl demands) that means they will be playing; Boyd, Patton, Giles, Cameron and Mumford. With Mumford being the dominant ruck to Giles that means there will be Giles, Boyd, Patton, and Cameron in one forward line or possibly Giles on bench. During preseason matches i think they will trial this and see how it goes but I think Mumford will be the sole ruckman with Patton or another one pitching in like Pyke was at Sydney. However GWS rucking goes, a fit Mumford is very dominant and has great value with his starting price for next season.

WEST Coast coach Adam Simpson is confident star ruckman Nic Naitanui is pain-free and ready to tackle pre-season on November 18.

The 2012 All Australian ruckman had a wretched 2013 season, battling groin soreness throughout.

He started the previous pre-season late due to groin surgery in November last year and missed the first five rounds.

He played 11 matches before succumbing to soreness in round 18 and was rested for the remainder of the year.

Naitanui has trained hard on his own throughout September and October to ensure his body is right for the pre-season and Simpson believes he will be ready to go.

"He's definitely running now - I think he's pain-free," Simpson said.

"So, touch wood, he's right to go. We'll manage him as well. He's pretty keen to make a pretty good first impression, so we'll make sure we manage his loads, but at the moment he looks OK."

The unknown for the Eagles is Beau Waters. The vice-captain managed just seven matches last season as he battled various injuries. He missed a month early in the year due to a quad strain. He then required a knee arthroscopy before his season was ended by shoulder surgery.

There have been reports that complications following that surgery could delay Waters' start to pre-season and Simpson was unsure of his start date.

"I haven't spoken too heavily with the fitness department on who we have to manage," Simpson said.

"There are definitely players there who are quite vulnerable to injury so we will keep an eye on that."

Pre-season began for the first to fourth-year players on Wednesday with skills and fitness testing.

Young key-position prospect Jeremy McGovern tested below some of the minimum requirements and will be required to do a tailored training program to get up to speed before the full squad begins on November.

The 21-year-old was upgraded from the rookie list recently but is yet to play a senior game. He played a key role in Claremont's 2012 WAFL premiership but had his 2013 campaign derailed by an early season ankle injury before he required season-ending hip surgery in July.

Lock in Nic Nat right now!!

On the Giants talls, I find it hard to see them playing all of them in the same team. I would think that Giles would probably not get a game and they would rotate one of the forwards (probably Patton or Boyd) through as the second ruck. The again depending on when Patton is right to come back from his knee Giles might play as the second ruck and a resting forward if Patton has a delayed start to the year.

I saw a picture of Patton starting the preseason training with the giants already. But i will try and find where i saw it.

Also where would you pick a fit NicNat if he still has the DP status?
Well this is an interesting one, and a lot harder for me to speculate where I would start him compared to say a DPP MID/FWD rookie.
As I haven't really had too much of a think about my ruck structure yet I can't be sure where I would start him. The past two years I have gone with the one premium and 3 rookies strategy. Depending on how say a Mumford looks in preseason, or even Sandilands, I might start him in the FWD line.

Sorry probably not much help on that one but it will come down to which premium or injury discounted rucks I am liking in preseason as to where I start Nic Nat. :)

Thanks for that, I wasn't sure as I hadn't heard anything for a while on how he was recovering. Although he looks ok there. LOL
I can't find anything on the GWS website about Patton's return from injury nor on the AFL website. The photo is the only evidence we can go by that Patton is ready for preseason. Looks like we'll be on Patton look-out during the preseason. Did his knee in round 3 on the 13th of April. Went to Switzerland for the reconstruction sometime.

I read somewhere (can't remember exactly where, but pretty sure it was quite reliable) that he was aiming for Round 1.

EDIT: It's on that article Junior Wolf posted

Ha. I couldn't be bothered reading the article. just saw the photo of patton and that was enough. if he is able to play in the preseason matches it will give us a good indication to see how GWS are setting their team out.

Good question. I am thinking of starting him in the Rucks and having McBean in the forwards. Reason being is because I don't know who I want for the ruck position yet. Last season I didn't get Minson/Goldstein and I had Leuey/Roughy last year and it just killed me missing out on the points that Goldy and Minson got.

So i'm thinking of starting him in the rucks and swapping him forward when I know who I want in the rucks/

Also i hope there is another rookie priced R/F other than liam McBean as Richmond picked up Shaun Hampson for a backup ruckman. Or is the bean pod there for access between the forward and ruck divisions? If so I hope there is a cheaper R/F than mcbean. every penny must be accounted for in the pursuit for the 50k big one.
