No pressure now Dirk, since I relinquished the Anderson VS Dobey hedge to keep you. :ROFLMAO:

Great to see Dobey reach a World Championship quarter final after losing three fourth round matches over the last four years in deciding sets (2019 VS Anderson, 2020 VS Durant and 2022 VS Humphries).

I've had a look and I'm going to run the gauntlet at getting to the 3K mark. Which basically means the only shot at that is picking the winner as Captain and filling in with the best of the rest hoping to get the other finalist.

It's boring and not really the way I would like to go out. I hope some of you are less boring and that it goes your way.

Will post up the link to the sheet.

Chris Dobey VS Michael Van Gerwen
Head to head record: 1-11 in favour of MVG

Their only encounters under set play have both occurred at the World Grand Prix (double in, double out tournament) with Van Gerwen winning the 2019 Semi Final, four sets to zero, and the 2022 World Grand Prix Quarter Final, four sets to one. Dobey finally recorded his maiden victory against MVG at the 2022 European Championships six legs to five in a best of eleven legs match. See below clip featuring highlights from the 20:15 to 25:40 minute mark.

Like Steve. On his day he can beat seeds as shown already. I hope he does well and its exactly the sort of feel good story I want to see succeed at the end, and hopefully with someone on him
Surprised that nobody held on to Stephen for the third and fourth rounds. At least one person was confident in his performance and I will keep an eye out if he gives another prediction on Dutch TV tomorrow. ;)

Stephen Bunting VS Michael Smith
Head to head record: 8-5 in favour of S Bunting

One previous match at the World Championships in the Last 16 in 2015 which went the way of Stephen four sets to two. Between 2021 to current, Michael has won two of their three encounters at Players Championship events.

Another one I like. Dobey can play. The problem lies in MvG playing at a par right now and averaging over 100. Chris is going have to play well and finish well to keep up
Only caught the last set or two of the Cross VS Dobey match but was very impressed with his two treble set up shots to leave a possible one dart finish when returning. The key will be getting those 11-15 darters against throw to break MVG.
