For those outside the LG and/or who weren't paying attention at the time, this is what the top 60 drafting component will look like. Bid are taken simultaneously.

And the 2017 Draft Class. Bids are taken in turns starting with the nominated drafter who can match the bid of anyone as a last bid.

Now I can see two blank white boxes? Is it something with my iPad settings?

Sorry if this a dumb question but what happens when the contracts expire for the “regular” players (ie not the 2017-2019 draftees). Ie say you try get Grundy for 2m a year for 3 years, what happens at the end of the 3rd year, can everyone bid for them again?

Refer to Third Contract (RFA) and Fourth Contract (FA) in the 'Salary Cap & Contracts' tab of the rules doc, think this will help.

I have read this a few times and still wasn’t sure sorry....
@KLo30 probably best to further outline this process. But similar to the AFL, if a player is a Restricted Free Agent, their current club has the opportunity to match any contracts offered by rival clubs that may want the player. A Free Agent (4th Contract) will go to the club that offers the highest average salary.

Grundy will become a Free Agent and be available to everyone. We will hold a auction draft for players like him in the preseason.
Okay! So just to clarify which contracts are assigned based on each round.

1. Auction format - 4th contracts (free agents after expiry)

2. Modified Auction - 2nd contract (RFA after expiry)

3. Draft format of 2018 draftees - 1st contract (RFA after expiry)

4. Draft format of 2019 draftees - 1st contract (RFA after expiry)

5. Draft format - free agency - 4th contract (free agent after expiry)

Is that right?

1. Auction format - 3rd or 4th contract (free agents after expiry)
Correct

2. Modified Auction - 2nd contract (RFA after expiry)
Correct

3. Draft format of 2018 draftees - 1st contract (RFA after expiry)
1st contract, 2nd contract after expiry

4. Draft format of 2019 draftees - 1st contract (RFA after expiry)
1st contract, 2nd contract after expiry

5. Draft format - free agency - 3rd or 4th contract (free agent after expiry)
Correct

Over time there will be more RFAs

Thanks @KLo30 - just a few follow ups in green.

1. Auction format - 3rd or 4th contract (free agents after expiry)
Correct
How do we know if a player is to be a 3rd or 4th contract player? In my hypothetical above where say Grundy gets taken for 3 years at 2M a year, it seemed he was being treated as a “4th contract” player and a free agent after expiry.

Also don’t “3rd contracts” all become RFAs after expiry not free agents? I thought perhaps only the 2CPs could become 3rd contract players through RFA drafts in subsequent seasons. I could have misunderstood how this works though.

2. Modified Auction - 2nd contract (RFA after expiry)
Correct

3. Draft format of 2018 draftees - 1st contract (RFA after expiry)
1st contract, 2nd contract after expiry
This makes sense now. So teams can choose to re-sign 1st contract players or not. If they do, there is a formula which determines their salary and they become a 2CP. If not, they become free agents.

4. Draft format of 2019 draftees - 1st contract (RFA after expiry)
1st contract, 2nd contract after expiry

5. Draft format - free agency - 3rd or 4th contract (free agent after expiry)
Correct

Over time there will be more RFAs

It doesn't really if they are 3rd or 4th (or 5th or 6th) times contracted because they are free agents at the end of those contracts.

A players 3rd contract is their RFA contract. i.e. everyone can bid on them and their team has the option of matching the bid. They must have been on team lists continuously during their 1st and 2nd contract to get to their 3rd contract (RFA contract).

The second green statement is correct.

For Phase 5 of the draft, salaries are set and we determine the contract years correct? Can these contracts be front/backended or are these just flat salary for however many years offered?
You can determine the length of the contract, however the salary is set and is unable to be front or back ended.

I love a graphics challenge.
Can you insert a large logo here and then I can copy it to convert the colours? Or send it to me through the 'inbox'?
( RE: .......a Large logo...... it's just easier to work with a larger image, anything around 800 pixels wide would be good, if possible)
I can't find the original image I used but did find the following ...

I don't have access to Photoshop anymore otherwise I'd have a go myself ...

Edit: did find it but it is of too low quality ....

Got a few questions as I do some research ....

1. The first set of 60 players auctioned say we have a +15 second extension available to finalise bids ....
- Is it a limited number available per coach or are we really going to end up with these extensions for most players being auctioned ....

2. Also for the first set of 60 players being auctioned regarding contracts and front / back loading of them ....
- are they set and forget or can I "tinker" with them in future years .... I know it says that the "structure" can't be altered once enetered into but what about the yearly payments or is that part of the "structure" .... just need to clarify .....

3. Is there a provision for a quick practice run on the bidding process for a random player so we all or some of us can get an appreciation of the applications being utilised ....

4. What is the "Rookie" price cutoff value / criteria for the following:

1590318035597.png

5. What do the extended multi years values in the 2017 draft mean ....
- I'm struggling to compute / understand the figures in this one ...

Given the feedback I've received in regards to people's availability, and a big thank you to those who have replied, and the need to move things along, I'm proposing the following times to begin the drafting price.

Wednesday: 8pm - 9pm
Complete round 1, and as much of round 2 as possible
Thursday: 8pm - 9pm
Continue where we left off and get as far as possible (ideal rounds 3 & 4)
Friday: 8pm - 9pm
Complete the top 60 draft
Saturday: TBD
2017 Draft Class, 2018-2019 Draft Classes (??)
Sunday: TBD
???

What needs to be done before then:
  • Teams to publicly announce team names before Monday evening
  • Join Messenger group to help facilitate draft communication
  • Release draft order for all aspects of the draft
  • Obtain access to draft document and become familiar
Where teams sit in the draft order for each section of the draft will have an impact for the first section of the draft. I'd rather teams make their announcements before releasing the draft, that's part of the fun of this league.

Messenger details will follow in the next few days.

I need to clean the draft document of choice before the beginning of the draft. However, seeing some choices and what the result will entail will enable teams to get a better understanding of the process and all that it entails. Therefore, I'd like teams to have a day to see this and play with it before I clean the slate. i.e. Monday evening to Wednesday early morning before I clean the slate.

We are moving quickly and tying up loose ends as we proceed. So, bear with us whilst we move warp speed to the AFL deadline.
(Yes, I'm watching Star Trek as I type)

Introducing the:

Roppongian Rangers

Founded in the depths of Tokyo, the Roppongian Rangers have fully utilised the resources of a more technologically advanced society in preparation for the inaugural SCS Supercoach Ultimate League. With an army of AI robots scouting players, developing strategies and analysing opposition coaches, the Roppongian Rangers spend every moment of the day scouting its prey.

Despite all the resources invested so far in big data analysis, the Roppogian Rangers are still yet to secure a marketing agent to develop a logo and guernsey however, have secured a home ground for its first season at the Roppongian Dome (with rumours of a change of headquarters for season 2021).
