16 + Davey? playing before trades, 18 after these moves; do folk reckon I should move Ashcroft to Jack Macrae too. It both seems like an absolute no-brainer do it move and and absolute no-brainer don't do it move.

19 + cincotta E this week, once I trade Simpson to Ford.

This thread has given me good food for thought, will have to mull over potential DC and Ridley ins but that's tomorrow's problem

Looks like I have 20 before trades thanks to Cincotta and Knevitt. Was initially planning on one trade, Wilmot to Ford. However if I do this one of my defenders is stranded.

Looking at other options, I can flick Roberts (clearing dead wood probably good especially with Constable still looking nowhere near selection), Sharp (bit more cash but more chance of getting another game), or Ashcroft, which is a bit earlier than I wanted to go on him, although I feel reasonably comfortable that I can get to a complete side now so it wouldn't be a disaster.

I can actually loop Cincotta and see if this is even worth the effort, and if he looks like he's in the bottom three I can just get rid of Wilmot anyway. Will probably just do that.

Winners & Losers - Round 11
Table showing players whose price has gone up by $100K or more on their starting salary OR down by $100K or more
In the winners column, rookie priced players (Cadman down) are shaded & well represented as you would expect, but plenty of cash-gen too from mid-price types.
Rookies represent 16 of the 20 who have (so far) exceeded the oft-mention $150K price gain.
Butters, Taranto & Marshall are the only players in the PLUS column who started over $500K.
Others who started over $400K are Danger, Serong, Rowell, Gulden & Darcy Moore.

With Atkins and Cincotta named I've got all 8 defenders available this week with no way to loop one of them on. Not ideal. May have to trade Roberts > Mullin just to get an extra body on field.
Is there any way to get one of your defenders to another line via the trade refund function?

SC Pacsetters

Over the past few seasons, I have kept an eye on the scoring power of the SC leaders/winners.
This followed on from some earlier research by @Wheedus who demonstrated that SC winners from around 2012-13 onwards were averaging about 103 pts per player, per round.
This level held up in 2021, but last year the winner averaged about 105.3 per player.

By way of comparison, the current 2023 leader is scoring at about 101.5.
It seems that this is a tougher season, although you would expect this average to rise as the season progresses & full-team status is reached.

** In running the calcs, I allow for an average captain (bonus) score of 125.

Nah. I have no mid/def links and to maximise my players this week I'll need two of those links to get both Cincotta and Atkins on field in the mids. I can create one with Ashcroft > Ford (via Cincotta to mids and Mitchell to defence) but that still means I have 2 of Mitchell/Weddle/Atkins getting benched in defence - not ideal.

If I go Roberts (fairly useless player at this time of year anyway) > Mullin via Atkins then I can play 3 of Mitchell/Atkins/Cincotta/Weddle with Mullin also on the bench.

Only one trade this week. Darcy > Briggs.
I went early on Ford last week. Thought about bringing in Wardle but conscious of too many NMs on the bye for Rd 15.
Plan to get rid of Day and Atkins on their byes, plus Cincotta and Davey when suits.
Just 18 plus Davey playing this round so things may change for late outs. 15 trades & 2 boosts left. $350k in the bank

Who do we all think has the better cash generation potential between now and Round 16 out of Wardlaw and Briggs.

Briggs obviously the short term gains... but his scoring is 100% reliant on Flynn not being in the team. Can't see both of them playing in the same side currently. And Flynn has been number 1 all year. If he can get even 2 more games without Flynn and maybe one in the team with Flynn then he could get to around the $380k+ marker.

Wardlaw - looked like the cash gen target we needed in his first game then back to earth last game. Obviously JS is really strong. But he probably needs to go at the 80average to make the cash needed between now and round 16 to be worth it. If he goes 80+ he can make the $150k fairly qucikly, but have to think that he's more of a longer term prospect that he'll reach that sort of price around round 18/19 given the likelihood of some low scores in the mix.

(note: saying round 16 as whichever I go with will be a key part of final upgrade either at round 16/17)

Just on the Flynn/Briggs situation important to note that Flynn was dropped for Briggs and has been emergency in both games thus far.

With Himmelberg back think they’re less likely to bring Flynn back. Will be making the Darcy to Briggs move this week.
Yeh I can't see them running with both, but it would be disappointing if Flynn comes back in a weeks time. He had 2 goals, 21 touches and 32 hitouts last week in the reserves. So if he does that again and GWS don't win this weekend, you'd think he's straight back in.
That said - another 100 points from Briggs will likely go close to an $85k increase which is not bad at all... And with if he can hang on for one more week and has another 100 points then he gets up to $380k mark.

It's a risk grabbing him but I'm probably in need of some luck this year...

Roberts > Ford
Samson Ryan > Ridley

Laird, Cincotta, S Mitchell and Ratkins playing helped me get to 19 so need for forced trades.
