That’s potentially a play, depending on the player, but there is still plenty of rounds to go and this feels more like a Hail Mary play with 3-4 rounds to go to make 1-200 pts, not the 500+ pts I need.
I think the high ceiling aspect is
about giving yourself an opportunity to make up those points, rather than locking in a popular 100-type player who likely won’t really have much impact on your score versus those ahead of you.
You’re much more in the mix than I originally thought. I’ve mentioned a couple of opportunities I would be weighing up above.
You’re probably already doing it, but I’d be keeping a close eye on roles. Shifts in role sometimes go under the radar (admittedly probably less so this year, with all the additional data from sources like DFS), and people target player X more because they’ve scored well year to date/have a brand name than because they’re playing in a role that will help them score well going forward. You’re also far enough back that you won’t be the #1 opponent that other coaches are worried about right at the moment, which is helpful if you’re seeking to make up ground. It would be much easier for you to select and maintain a POD versus the leader, than for the coach who is currently sitting 2nd.
