Can't say who exactly at this stage of pre season, but with only one DPP player currently at Hawthorn, I would expect to see more. A few players are likely to be shuffled around a bit from 2023 due to a lot of additions, especially up forward. I'd expect some that are currently FWD only might pick up MID or DEF, but no guarantees.
Don't be surprised if Reid starts at half back like Daicos & Sheezel did - seems like that is the blueprint for talented youngsters to help them adjust to the AFL level. Reid can play multiple positions, Hurn has now retired so an opening there - I could certainly see him getting time in the back half to start.

No Gaff isn't an oversight, I think he is just depth these days. Sheed just scrapes in but could easily miss out however I think Simmo would want another experienced mid in the side to help out Kelly.

I think Witherden is 100% in the West Coast team for round 1. It wouldn't surprise me though if he (or someone similar) got dropped a few weeks in to set standards.
Of course they want to get games into the kids, but competition for spots and getting them to earn it would have to be better in the long run. H Reid aside, I don't think many rookies should be guaranteed a spot from the start.

Witherden has been hit and miss at the Eagles. He did not play the first few games when he came here in 2021 then got a groin injury. In 2022 he played some good games but something must have been missing because he got dropped several times including missing the last 4 games. His 2023 was better and they did give him another contract but somewhere there is something that is a problem.
