Team PC 24 -
Minimum early byes, 13 'keepers', too many trades and not enough in the bank (i.e $500!) :giggle:

D: Daicos, Stewart, Young, Wither..., ZWill, Gibcus, (Pink, Coffield)

F: Butters, LDU, Freoshaw, Duke, Steele, McKer..., Sanders, Curtin, (Sharp, Clark, McAuli...)

R: Gawndy, (Livings...)

F: Daniel, Flandereses, Harmes, Reid, Lazzaro, RookieMacrae, (Simpson, Manna...)

Like the feel of the team, although all plans go out the window once theory is replaced by reality.

Hi Santoz, nice team. One of the things we're all trying to work out is the amount of premiums with multiple byes we are able to carry without it being detrimental to our team. Currently I count 6 players you'd hope would score premium level scoring that have multiple byes.

I like the Hopper pick and by all the reports is in for a big year, would be a lot higher on the list if it wasn't for the early bye. Realistically you'd need him to go at least 105 to be worthwhile which I think he's capable of but there's a bit of risk there. With the spare cash in the bank maybe you'd be better off paying up for a genuine uber premo than hoping both of Hopper and Wines work out.

Powell is still a watch for me, very awkward price. Can sort of wait and target players on other lines and just let the forwards sort themselves out this year with the limited options. No real need to take a punt on a Powell type who'll have to be moved on anyway. Could go down to a Billings or Lazzarro but maybe a bit to early to tell at the minute. Nice structure though.
Cheers.

Hopper is in to go to Gulden after Gulden's bye. It's a forced move ensuring I won't be tempted into holding Hopper longer than necessary. Am I trying to be too clever? Probably. What's the value of a trade early doors these days anyway?

40k left. a couple questions I'm grappling with.
Daicos v Sicily v Stewart, I went Daicos as of the 3 he is the only one with a chance to actually improve on last year, and the Blanck/age issues for the other 2 respectively. Also not the biggest fan of Taylor Adams (and how he lumps with Grundy and Daicos on the r5 bye), but the forward line is just so bare and nobody else at that price point appeals. I can grab the cash out of Conway and get just about any forward instead of Adams but I swear I hate all of them. Maybe i just bite the bullet on Luke Jackson.

At first glance it's very mid-pricey but I suppose that 2 of the 6 are forwards which we're kinda forced into this year. So 4 MPs isn't so bad, provided Yeo stays on the park. Could say the same for Wardlaw at the moment really.

I reckon that in that price range I'd prefer Coleman due to far better durability and maybe even scoring at this stage of his and Yeo's careers. Does have the extra bye though :/

I think Adams will do great up there in Sydney. I was going through our 2023 season highlights the other day and it was amazing how may times you'd see Tay Tay being a part of it. Think he was either first or second at the club for score assists - this on top of his never-say-die attitude and relentless pressure will go down a treat at the club that gave us the likes of Paul Kelly and everyone else like him.

His body has been through the wringer though and he's mostly there until Mills gets back. Caveat emptor.

Your round 5 situation isn't flash but you might be ok. I'm thinking of trading heavily around that week but even I'm baulking at the idea of trading Dakes out and then straight back in. Most people will be starting him and most of them will treat his bye as any other or as a one week injury and wear it. You may find the same thing happens with Grundy. Now it's just Adams missing that could leave you at a disadvantage to the rest of the comp. Not so bad....

Heading towards a mid priced strategy early. Picking guys with new roles/teams. DGB might get a look in now, also DPP handy with Baker if required. Massimo and Burgoyne on wings, also looking to get security with less rookie types in the backline, faded Curtin, could be 50 type scorer. Flynn can be flipped to Grundy, Massimo could become Williams. I'm not counting how many keepers. 🙄

I value trades quite highly. Ran out pretty quickly last year from a pretty poor starting side. Think it's better to savour the trade and use it when necessary instead of blowing it on someone it was probably better to start with in the first place.

mid price heavy was a deliberate choice. Most ubers can only tread water or go down, they have very little to no upside. I'm gambling on having more potential upside in the mid pricers. I'm hoping I nail the break out/bounce back picks and the ones that are so-so can hopefully drift up towards 500k+ (I don't see much risk of any of them dropping more than a tad) and give me solid stepping stones for upgrades to the ubers. Overall less potential cash gen than an extra rookie or 2 on field, but hopefully more points in the bank early, and the marginal cash gained from the mid pricers can off set any cash loss from picking the wrong uber.

If Yeo or Wardlaw goes down early they're at a good price point that I can correction trade to any other mid/rookie price player and go from there, and if its a bit later, see earlier point re stepping stones. I don't necessarily expect both to last the whole season while performing as keepers but I'm fine with that risk and am betting that they outperform a 1 uber/rookie pairing even if I do have to use an extra trade on them.

Haven't really considered Coleman much, rd2 bye is the worst of the lot, but he is definitely one of those correction options going in to r3.

Good point about Daicos and Grundy, if everyone has that problem then nobody has that problem. And I'm the one with 14 players who should hopefully be scoring 90+, everyone else only has 12 or so, (which is also why I am less worried on missing 1 player every other bye round)

first time posting a team this year just looking for thoughts on what i could improve upon? Also have 128k in the bank. View attachment 68019
Nice team overall - at M6 I would much prefer Wardlaw at 365K over Jordon. Wardlaw looks like the 2 number CBA mid for North behind LDU, kid has been very impressive in preseason. Very hard to tell what exact role Jordon will have in a stacked swans midfield group. Also has the bye in round 5 whilst North don't have a bye until round 12 ;)

thank you for your input i will drop williams, jordan and martin (probably) since i'm falling short for another premo and i would replace martin with wardlaw at m6.

Yep, I think it’s the case most seasons to be honest. This time of year everyone’s expecting the worst and by round 1 there’s plenty of options.

Only line I’m not super confident on is down back but I’m sure there’ll still be enough to pick from that it won’t cause too many issues.
Only line Id be worried about is defence, think that line is rubbish this year, to the point that I genuinely think we'll have to go 4 premos and Williams by the end of Round 0.

Hey all, good to have footy back for 2024!
First team post…unique year considering round 0 and the byes that follow…

Based the structure on maximising premiums whom don’t have the bye….
will focus on getting rookies corrected in the first few rounds and then make use of the boosts in order to upgrade quickly…

Have selected some uniques in Kelly and Keays….

Happy to hear the communities thoughs on my team and any concerns or ideas you may have…

Before going into practice games.

Forwards are still a watch for me, I'm still not ruling out maybe Harmes or Reid even at F1.

Bont is still an in/out for me and the last piece is Rowan Marshall - I'd love to start him in the rucks, just hard to go past the Gawny value.

Solid structure and selections although I would be cautious about going for pods for pod sake as there will be plenty of time for it throughout the season, unless you are extremely confident about the prospects of Kelly and Keays this season.

Kelly's disposal and kicking efficiency leaves a lot to be desired and thus reliant on accumulating a large amount of the ball to warrant selection and any improvement.
