Total of +14 on the last day from my 4 on field. That's a shark-esque choke ....
Tell me about it Frosty, I think that was my worst final round score ever in that comp, not a good week to not have Scheffler, the only half decent score I had was Knapp on the bench, and I noticed your bench too

Scheffler definitely my only highlight, would have had an awful tournament without him, but ended up 3rd because I did.

12 points between 2nd and 5th overall. Close competition!

Thank you. Handicap down to 12 now. Suspect thats about where it will stay.

Golf day is a great idea.
Here's my free tip for you to help you get your handicap into single figures.....
Most shots approaching the green and putts, end up short.
So hit it a bit harder or take an extra club ;)

I find I have to do this a bit more, the older I get, especially when it comes to full shots.
When I was in my 30's I hit a 4 iron 180 metres, now I can barely get a 3 wood that far. Gotta learn to swallow your pride incrementally lol

Thats pretty much where my 4 iron is at the moment. I find the challenge is more just taking into account the wind and the lie. I just use an app on my phone that provides distances to front, middle and back of the green. Getting in the habit of using the back of the green distance more, unless there is trouble over the back.

I wish I'd been able to do this at 20. Now it might help me a little, but the swing isn't up to it, so it's not so much swallowing pride and making a smart decision as it's "can no longer even vaguely hit the shot that was going to get me in trouble"

I’m finding that I’m taking an extra club and getting my distances pretty spot on (most of the time) but my accuracy needs to improve. I’m guessing this is where I’ll see some improvement hopefully over time. My G.A is currently sitting at 9.6 and play off 6 at my local course. My putting could also use some work the last month all I seem to be doing is burning edges of holes

Same! Young me swung 10 times harder, got 10 times more upset with every bad shot and achieved far less than what I do today for fun.

That is a fantastic handicap! Hard to know just what % of 'golfers' have a single digit handicap. It's usually only the better players that have an official handicap.

That's it mate, I think when contemplating distances, a lot of golfers make the mistake of assuming they're going to execute perfect contact and the ball will travel as far as they can hit that particular iron. Most amateur golfers mis hit a lot of the time so why not allow for that through your round in general and don't put so much pressure on ourselves...so why not take an extra club ?
It also allows for a smoother easier swing, taking an extra club.
That's why I do the, take an extra club policy, with irons, and always putt and chip it a bit harder than my instinct tells me, because I'd rather see the ball go past the hole rather than short all the time, at least you get a look at it going past, and sometimes you make it.
