Considering the field of premium defenders out there, he will need to average 105+ to be D6 standard - I think that might be asking too much.

He could still be a decent stepping stone if he averages 85-90 though...
Yes, always hard with a small sample size and especially with DPP changes coming up with a few midfielders joining the back 6 options it will be hard to crack the top 10.

@werewolves - I haven't watched any Dogs games this season, is he playing well? Disposal Efficiency looks solid (85%+) as well as Score Involvements and Intercept Possies helping his score line...2 tackles in 3 games though...is this a flash in the pan? Looking at his career he's been able to score the odd 90+ score but lots of 50s and 60s...always hard to tell a breakout player this early in the season

I’m going to Bramble this week.
I was surprised (dismayed) when we picked him up at the Dogs… at the start of the season I would have lol at the thought of him in my SC team, but you have to go with what you see.
He looked very good in the praccy match and now 3 straight top-flight matches and scores.
At this stage, D6 is a realistic proposition
who is in the Dogs' injury free best back 7?

I was surprised at how good he looked in the praccy round, strong, fast and really composed.
He’s continued on in the real thing, looks a far better player than I reckoned on, since I think the Hawks let him go.
Don’t know where they played him, but back-pocket seems to suit him.
🤞🤞🤞🤞 he can keep it going.

Fair comment. I doubt he’ll be top 8-10 overall, but at $348K, if he plays anything like he has so far, he can sit at D6 for a large part of the season
I'm very dirty I took Pink last week. Now with another Def rookie injury Pink walks on field.

As for this week I could boost Ried/Hore to Bramble and put Pink back where he belongs, never to grace to field. But it's only 1 week of best 22... Ried or Hore will be back the next time that comes along...even so I still think I'll wax the cash. Reasonable bye as well.

Now I’m leaning to Coffield > Brown and Billings > Darcy. Stick fat with Libba?
Also struggling with this... Was headed for a great score and subbed off. Week before played a different role, but still scored well. The 'soreness' is hard to get a read on. Is it a knock that was just sore in the moment, or is his body sore due to age etc. Considering he plays best as that contested inside mid, it is definitely a worry. Im 75% towards trading him to Green, but every time I look at it, I keep thinking that Libba is actually still playing fine, and has just been a little unlucky.. A hard decision for sure.

That’s a really good question and I doubt you’ll find much consensus on it.
For mine..
Talls would be Jones FB, then hard to split Keath and O’Donnell at CHB. Khamis has done well so far, but just think he isn’t quite big enough as a KPD. perhaps the back pocket..
Smalls are Bramble, Dale, Richards and JJ

Yeah, feel like everything has been against him so far. Melbourne and GC are probably his hardest matchups. Poor against Melbourne but scored well against GC. Was on track for 120-130 before getting subbed against WC. Not a great start at all, but so bad it’s worth trading? The amount of forward time is concerning me though. Is it because of the soreness or because of Bevo? He has an ok run coming up but it’s just so hard to get a proper read on him right now.

In my case he’d be traded to Miller or Steele who still have doubts on whether they’re a top 10 mid themselves. In your case I think Green will be top 5. If you don’t have many pressing issues, I’d go through with that.

I am without all of Heeney, Green, Serong, and Ryan so am a little behind the rest of the pack. Ryan was the only one I seriously considered pre season, but I definitely need to get a couple of these in asap. I almost always like to stick by my premiums, especially at the start of the season, unless there is an obvious issue. It certainly makes me look at a player with a glass half full approach though, as I'm sure you are doing also. Im looking at boosting and will prob also bring in Miller/Steele as well as Green. Which one are you leaning towards?

Out of Miller and Steele I’m leaning Miller… just. He’s copped a lot of negative scaling late in games, especially the Crows game. Could’ve gone much higher. Also has WC, North and Hawthorn in his next 6.

Miller does look a strong option now that the bye is out of the way. May even have my eye on him if Jordon is somehow out of the 22 this week. Not a great matchup this week, but price will go up a little more and then WCE/NTH/HAW in the next 5 after as you mentioned.

Gee, you’re making it tough…
I think they gifted O’Donnell too many games early last year, way before he was ready, but in the last few rounds he showed real promise.
Maybe Keath at 32 makes way to give the younger prospect first shot at it.

We also have our top draft pick from 2022, Buslinger who is a tall KPD type, but haven’t seen him in action yet.
Duryea is a capable experienced small if one of the others goes down.

I don't like help me posts but here I am asking for help with this lot:
1712202997187.png
$90,200 bank. 5 boosts.

Options I have looked at:
  1. Dawson & Sexton > Darcy & Flanders/Neale/Rowell
  2. Fyfe & Jordan > Darcy & Flander
  3. Sexton & Hore > Darcy & Draper
  4. Fyfe, Hore & Howes > Darcy, Draper & Clark/Dale
Just going round in circles.

Advice please?

Still heavily in the Steele vs Miller mindset but a new contender has snuck in.. Anderson at an ultra low 3% ownership and could well hit a nice season average. Feels a little like chasing a pod for the sake of it, but does seem like he’s the under appreciated GC player that’s getting lost behind Miller/Flanders and even Rowell.
Was tempted to start Anderson along with Touk. Think he could be a better selection than Rowell. He's PODdy as and looks headed for 110+ with most of the opposition attention going to the aforementioned Touk and Rowell. Can burn it a bit though

His 98 should keep him from getting too far away in a hurry. We have legitimate bargains potentially popping up in the interim though so I can see me missing him

Gotta preserve the $$$ left in Dawson with a BE of 174 and make it useful, otherwise you’ll need to go up to Steele/Touk next week, week after at worse.
I find it interesting that this thinking hasn't really been applied to Daicos by anyone on here yet. Daicos has a breakeven of 178, a potential tag by Finn Manginess (pending teams) in which he scored 41 against the hawks last year, and he's missing the next game too with the bye.

Yeah you're likely to bring him back with another trade when he bottoms out, but the potential money saved and points on the field during the bye sure is appealing. Things to consider.

Windy > Whitfield
Billings > Darcy

I got Windy in last week so very flat about the suspension, was planning on using him as my ticket to a early upgrade to Daicos, backline is grim so I'll settle for the Whitfield upgrade now.
Leaves me with 190k in the bank.

Still deciding if I should use a boost to move HReid along for Powell.
Think Reid still has plenty of money to make, but also think the future fwd line prospects are pretty dire, and it's the last chance to get Powell at a lowish price.
Macrae put in a 54 which should get him a bit more palatably priced. Surely he's still good for F6 or better? I'm hoping for better obviously.

Hopefully Powell has a year around 100ppg in him this year and I'm watching Hollands and rumours of him maybe getting DPP forward in another 3 weeks. If he holds up a decent average past the byes then at the very least we should be in a better place to trust some forward 'premos'

Those 3 and Heeney/Jackson/Flanders are a motley bunch of stooges but could still wind up going alright
