Thinking Grundy, Jordon & Bramble to Marshall, Nic Martin & Clohesy. Means fading English for the year if injuries go my way but I think Marshall is comfortably 3rd of the rucks and shouldn’t give up too many points to English.

Martin looks a bargain in that disgusting role and could very well be 110 from here now that he’s settled into it.

Looking over my trades, contemplating bringing Gawn in this week for Grundy. I do worry another big game and he is almost getting out of reach and it is hurting me. BE 75 so will go up, bye the next round but best 18 I feel it doesn't hurt as much. A bit to mull over.

When do DPP players changes come in? Is it next week or the week after?

I don't think it makes sense to trade Daicos out after losing 100k, yes he has the bye but you're probably scrambling to get him back in straight after that. I think you've missed the boat on Sharp, could easily put up some underwhelming scores in the next few weeks and only makes another 80k. Steele has had a pretty soft run to start with and still not sure if he's a top 8 mid from here on out.
Yep I take your points on Daicos, Sharp and Steele. I’m pretty sure last year Steele was owned by a fair few top coaches, if he gives me a good run to mid season and then I upgrade him to another, he’s done the job I wanted. Steele’s “soft run” is averaging 127 which isn’t too shabby. True, he’s only faced Geelong, Collingwood, Richmond and Essendon.
I could still bring Daicos back quite easily, but I’m not totally convinced he’s going to have a great year on form.
I eventually adjusted my trades a bit, still sold Daicos but also sold Grundy which has enabled me to bring in Gawn & Steele. I left out Sharp in the end, although Sharp will probably rise by $55k+ this week. Isn’t making an easy $80k+ a not bad result for a short term trade which that cash could be used for other upgrades? No saying I’m right, but it’s all food for thought.

I have finally decided to trade out Jordon and Grundy to either: Gawn, Marshall, English, Meek, Merrett and Steele.
Most likely I will do: OUT Jordon and Grundy - IN Merrett and Meek.

Meek expected to make money and later be a Stepping Stone.
Merrett expected to be one of the top Midfielders this year, can't think of a reason why not to own him.

Yeah those trades look a lot better especially as it gets you Gawn. I owned Steele for the majority of last year and never knew what Steele I was going to get each week. Much happier with him this year, everything is in his favour to be a keeper as well, fully fit with a full pre season and has the whole midfield to himself. Not 100% convinced but we'll see how it plays out. Sort of have to get him this week if you are keen though.

Listed below are a number of good potential players that could be on the bubble next Round, and good to trade in.
I have T. Berry, B Howes, M Hore and S Campbell who are ready to be traded out this Round, or next.

It looks like a good idea to me, to use a Boost Trade, to do an early trade this round, to get one of these players in. Clohesy looks like the best with Job Security.

Is this a wise use of a Boost Trade?

Started Gawn and Grundy with the plan to swap the worst performer with English at their bye. But is English $180K better then Grundy. Yes you get extra 60-70 points this round (zero if you go to Gawn) and maybe 10-20 points extra each round, but the $180K can help get a rookie off field earlier which covers the 10-20 point pretty fast.

Pretty much looks to me like there's 2 schools of thought here. Do your luxury trades now then build your team around those, or roll with who you've got, build your team quicker then rely on luxury upgrades later.

I'm in the 2nd college, setting my team up so I enter the main byes with a full compliment of 22 'keepers', some of them are sub standard but will use the byes to upgrade them and maintain a healthy premo mix over all of them.

I've no idea which is the best way to go, maybe do the luxury trades and build your team quick? Trades and upgrades must start becoming an issue for some, I know that they are for me.

Yes well said. My first choice is always to get bad rookies off field, then all rookies upgraded, then luxury trades the worst player on each line to the best.

The early byes complicate this a bit.

Does anyone know what Harry McKay's BE will be next week if he scores 100 this week?

The more I mull over my trades the more I am warming up to:

Howes > Clohesy
T Berry > Meek (via Livingstone dpp)

It means I have Grundy, English and Meek on my ruck line. It does seem like a waste of cash (and very well could be if I don’t play it right), but moving my dedicated donut to my forwards means I’ll be able to loop in what is the most volatile line for me currently. This could net me some decent points on that line whilst potentially making coin on Meek.

I also have this feeling that Grundy is due a monster game soon and I want to give him a few more chances while others are offloading.

Approx R6 Price and BE (in brackets) with the following scores:
  • 75 - $495,600 (139)
  • 100 - $506,600 (120)
  • 114 - $512,700 (110)
  • 137 - $522,800 (93)
Thank you so much for this.

I really want to hold McKay for what I expect will be a big score vs Adelaide this week, but after that he goes on an incredibly difficult run: Giants, Cats, Pies, Dees, Swans.

However, if I use his money this week, I can get both English and Martin. It feels bad trading out such a shining light so soon. I got him two weeks ago for a 137X2 (VC). Feeling very torn.
