Then I think I'll use my first boost. I have enough cash to upgrade Carroll to Heeney (would leave me $2k). But I have Dawson and after seeing him live against the Blues I think it's time to concede defeat and trade him out to stop the bleeding. But I feel it's not great for upgrade trajectory. Thoughts?
Get Heeney. Everyone scores well against Essendon & then get rid of Dawson next week.
My thought's are it’s upgrade season so upgrade
Sorry what I didn't make clear is I could do Dawson to Heeney and just hold Carroll another week. So either way I could get Heeney. Question is whether to trade Dawson (and save lots of cash for future upgrades) or Carroll (use all my cash).

For those trading Heeney in, does he average 144 in his next 5 games? With Adams back, Mills and Parker due back soon, I can envisage a role change. I personally don't see him sustaining his current scoring.
In my post about Heeney here I noted that historically Heeney had clusters of good scoring that were o***et by clusters of poor scores to return a mediocre average.

Heeney has gone at 144 over the first 5 so I can't see him going at 144 over the first 10. He has to regress at some point.

However in the same post I hypothesised about Heeney averaging 116 over his first six matches and he's now cooking at 25% better than that, so really, I have no clue what I'm talking about.

I imagine he'll probably keep the role as the incumbent (he's in rare form so why ruin a good thing) but will start to share with others so will come back to the 110-115 mark or thereabouts.

Whats peoples thoughts on Elliot Yeo this year v Nic Martin who should get DPP
Yeo, McGovern and Crouch have all been amazing starting picks, whoever started all 3 would be very well placed right now and kudos to them for taking them on, the trouble is they’re all highly injury prone, looking back over the last 5yrs for all of them….
Yeo 21 10 12 5 10 games
McGovern 21 11 15 10 9 games
Crouch 18 19 16 11 7 games
I wouldn’t discourage anyone from getting them in as their all killing it, but the odds of them making it through the season (which is what we’re paying/hoping for) is heavily stacked against you.

I started Crouch knowing that he would be traded out at some stage, preferably at his bye, $490k was very good value considering his finish to last season, he's now $540k (not a huge price rise) which makes it a simple one trade move to a fallen premium, plus minimal cash if needed. Got Yeo in at $447k and he's now $540k so he's also just a one trade cost if he goes down. For those that got McGovern he's also in the same boat.

The risk for me with those players was having them go down early on where I would have used 2 trades to get them up to a premo or, more than likely, downgrade to a MP.

The risk in bringing them in now is really just the 1 trade cost in trading them out should they go down.

I've got Jackson in my forward line and currently don't have Flanders. Do we think it's worth a sideways trade to grab Flanders? Jacksons scoring is starting to piss me off and will probably get worse with Darcy back, and Flanders seems to be killing me in head to head matches every week.

So far I've used one trade, Carroll to Graham.

Can you boost to use 3 trades to upgrade someone into Flanders? I think you are better off to focus on upgrades at this time

As I said, I think you are better off upgrading and focus on clearing rookies off your field at this point.

Well done in getting both Crouch and Yeo in at base price and yes you’re in a great position now with a lot of top line mids dropping price rapidly-you could even make money on Oliver! Same with Yeo a straight swap to Sicily, my point was more for coaches getting them in now, all 3 may very well play out the season and be top10 in their positions, but history suggests buying now means they’re going to be replaced which as you say would be a straight swap but it also slows down your progress in finishing your team, starting and swapping 1trade, bringing in then swapping 2 trades, I know we have 40 trades this season but they can go quick and we still have the next lot of byes to get through as well. Regardless well done on starting 2of the 3 👍

Thanks, you're dead right about the need to conserve trades, I've been going hell for leather trying to set my team up for this tranche of best 22 games. When I factor in the amount of upgrades, including luxury upgrades to still be done then I'll be at the bare minimum (7 trades) coming out of the MBR's, so there's no room for any more stuffing around. Having Yeo and Whitfield is the most risk that I can get away with. Of course those coaches that have been less profligate with their trades than I have could probably afford that risk.

Taking a risk going early on Biggie to allow for a big midfield upgrade.

Jordon / Clark / McKercher > Biggie / Serong / Graham leaves the below. Send it?

Nice trades, Biggie looks to have his spot cemented for the next 3 weeks with Dawson out, although that's just 2 price rises if they drop him when Dawson's back, although I think he's a better option for North with Dawson.

Looks like I've painted myself into a corner with 6 premos (using the term premos loosely) missing the round 12 bye and wondering if anyone might have a solution given that I'm not keen on trading them to players that still have a bye coming?

Sheezel, Whitfield, Green, Grundy, Heeney and Powell are the ones missing with Powell a possible upgrade to a Parker/Adams/Zorko in round 13 and Grundy > Marshall in round 16.

Guess I'll just have to take a hit and hope that having more premos in the later bye rounds makes up for it.

The goal is to make about $120-150k with a rookie in an ideal world. Dawson could easily be back within 2 weeks, and Biggie still has one week left to bubble too.

Question you need to consider is, is Jackson a Top 6 FWD this year? He is playing WCE this week too.

only one that you could upgrade from is grundy, rest would all be sideways which i think isnt worth at this point in the year

sheezel green heeney powell are likely all keepers. not convinced whitfield is top 6 with how reliant he is on loose balls

most people would be in the same situation with around 4-6 premos off rd12. just important to factor it in when you decide which rookies to bring in as youd want at least 21 players playing that round
