M Short starting side doesn't look too bad.

I guess it depends then on who you are looking to trade in and out in Round 2.

Hossain may well be in the West Indies for Round 1 , if the BCB allow him to play BBL (instead of BPL) could be a useful starting donut to play.
Yeh he is someone I want and may miss him if I don't start him as a loop. Easier to fit him in now and adjust if needed.

Lots to think about yet (obviously)

Playing around with :-

? / Harper

Maxwell , Curran , Webster , Stoinis , WELLS / Turner , Renshaw

Abbott , SUTHERLAND , K RICHARDSON , Zampa , Paris / J Richardson (E) , + 1

Steketee

$ 352,200.00 for 2 remaining players

Wells/Sutherland/K Richardson could change depending on what J Richardson scores and VC scores as to whether I need a 🍩 or not.

Would need to then use Maxwell + Bank to get M Short for Round 2 (or fade him until Round 4) , could be light on for Round 2 DGR though

The idea of a keeper at 60k with two doubles in the first 3 is appealing.

But in my head, with Joe Clarke reportedly the replacement player for Duckett - is Harper not out of the team or at best batting 7?
My guess

Duckett (Clarke)
Rogers
Webster
Maxwell
Stoinis
Cartwright
Curran

2 from Couch/Paris/Steketee
Usama Mir

Do they need a 5th specialist bowler with Maxwell/Stoinis/Webster ? (May like McKenzie especially at the G)

So 11th could be Harper , another bat (seems a waste) or Merlo (still trying to work what was his purpose last season) who hasn't been added.

Has been mentioned Liam Blackford might be signed so he could also get the gloves.

Just my thoughts

I don't mind the Doran and Harper GK selections. You can keep that all year and still have 11 scores on your BAT/BWL/FLEX line.

Could do it with 3 WKP cheap options and just sneak a few points dropping a terrible 11th.
There’s definitely an argument to take that strategy and sacrifice it, particularly during the bye rounds. Means taking on rain and injury risk.

First time logging in for here for 9 months. Feels good to be back though. Getting keen for it all to start again
so guess the big question is around Matt Short again. If you don’t start him, how do you afford him round 2? Is it just a pivot from a Maxwell, and then back again round 3

Ideally free but it is a pipe dream. Intentionally disregarding the wicketkeeper position thanks to the Flex position and minimising the spend is as close as I will get.

Not sure I'm that game. It's one thing if the keeper was a low ceiling position but you've got guys like Seifert, Inglis, McDermott, Philippe who we know can go ballistic. Rather just give myself the extra chance at a score.

I like the fact we can move a keeper/bat from flex to the batting line in place of a bat/bowl player. Will be exceptionally useful throughout the season. Don’t think giving up the keeper line will be a smart move in the long run given having 3 keepers has been very useful in the past.

Thinking taking a punt on bat only players will be more prevalent with this flex position. Evans and Brown type players will be less unique selections with this addition I believe.

That was my first thought too. Those hit and miss types with the big ceiling are perfect for the flex position

Been thinking on the flex position and one possible strategy I haven’t seen floated yet is to use it to be more aggressive on cash gen. Back end of the season is 3 SGRs so being able to afford the best scorers could be tricky if we haven’t built a bank. In years past we’ve been able to rely on some cheaper DGR guys to fill positions on any given week but a SGR throws up a lot of variance (even with flex allowing us to drop a score).

The play could be to take some value early with the DGR guys on field but use the bench spots to maximise the cash gen. Also makes it easier to hold some MR players over their bye..

Tough one to predict. You could conceivably grab the extra cheapie and then the top players slide considerably in price, meaning every man and his dog can now afford them who have also picked up more points with squeezing the extra higher scoring player.

Not to mention you could also find yourself in a proper hole if your extra cheapie underperforms/gets dropped. Along with the 1-2 underperforming cheapies that usually present themselves each season, it could stagnate your team and waste those valuable boosts quite quickly in an attempt to manufacture an advantage (or perhaps closing a disadvantage created by the tactic).
