Barring Abbott, who’d be relatively popular, it was a successful night. Smith and Overton combining for 189 points which I can’t complain about.
Going to be some monster scores about with the canes to play tomorrow. Good luck to those in contention with the bigger captains/several canes to play tomorrow.

7/851 (Chaudhary) - dropping Warner 18, or Carey 18, or Philippe 18
Was planning to have Short and a donut (for Billings) until Manenti was named. Went instead to Overton and Carey. Very happy with that! Although would've been much happier if Carey had just got two more runs before giving his wicket away.

Game 2: 2/654 - Bethell (e taken), Owen, Meredith, Chaudhary (v taken), Ellis, David, Sutherland, Zampa (excluded)
Game 3: 3/224 - Overton, Shaw, Edwards, Doggett (bench); Kerr (bench)
When your doughnut plays and beats the score you were happy to take then things are going ok. Bracing myself for some wicked mean reversion tomorrow night.

Owen excellent, even got a bowl! Meredith thrived with Jordan out and got better overs. Chaudhary great. Wade great too, but getting out when he did allowed David to get his quick 20 and Bethell to get another wicket. Ellis good. Rogers and Sutherland okay. Doran poor.
Wasn’t able to properly check teams. Green ticks and red circles but not the actual batting order. Long story short, if I had time on my hands I likely would’ve VC’d Chaudhary instead. I ran with Wade + Doran (73) but I likely would’ve gone either David + Doran (57) or Wade + Bethell (236). I assumed they’d be running with Wade opening, Doran somewhere in the top order, and 6-5. Very frustrating but hard to know for sure which way I would’ve gone.
Still another game to go for the other options to try catch up to Bethell. Hoping Doran gets another crack. Hurricanes sitting pretty up the top, give Jordan his rest

Overton good with both bat and ball. Ends on a 73.8 average, great campaign from him. Edwards just can’t string together a big score. Did well with the ball but got run out early. Could make an argument that he got barbecued but I think there was easily 2 there, especially with Smith making it to the danger end. Basics… run the first one hard! Short a failure. Hoping lots decided to bite the bullet to grab him and not Smith! Had him for the 164 as captain last round so you can’t complain.

Actually had a 50/50 go my way. So I traded into M. Short (not ideal 16), but I either had to trade out Overton or Neser. And for some reason (I' still questioning it), I chose to trade out Neser instead of Overton. Overton scored a nice 102, hoping Neser goes lower than that.
Got Wade, Johnson, Meredith (VC) and Chaudary to play tomorrow, so should be a pretty decent score.

Feels like a great score and chance for you to be very alive come the final round 9, not being able to hold Overton for his final match came back to haunt me tonight and the slight edge I may have had in catching up to you looks gone for the moment - I think we are roughly the same score this week but you had a 160pt lead going into Rd 8.
Great work, keep it up and best of luck to us all tomorrow for final game of round. Will be interesting to see where the rankings sit going into final round. Possible a few top teams may have gone Short as captain, but I suspect most will have a Hurricane who did well in the first game of their double.
