Looks a good trade for GWS. Compared to the Beams trade where Brisbane had to give away Crisp and pick 5 and 25 (and think they received 60).

How receives the tag, Griffen or Ward?

Have a freaky stat for you IDIG !

The 22. Aug. 1995. Victoria held a state funeral for the great man Ted Whitten.
The 22. Aug. 1995. Tom Boyd was born.
One former Bulldog legend layed to rest, to a new possible Bulldog great born on the same day.

Ridiculous trade by the Bulldogs. On what they're giving away it is like Boyd is guaranteed to be a "Buddy" or NRoo. He's not!
They were like the guy at the carnival that keeps paying $5 for 3 balls, and ends up paying $40 for a $20 teddy bear!
I think they got too focussed on the prize, and forgot to keep track of the price!

I will be honest, and say there is a lot I don't like about Collingwood (I won't go into that here!), but I will give them their due. Each and every trade period they play hard-ball and end up level or in front on their trades. Brisbane have probably paid overs for Beams, and Collingwood mark another small win on their trade score card!

Great post re the dogs Rowsus. untried player into 7 year contract = big call.

i agree we paid overs but there's a resounding sense of satisfaction within our club, now having Beams and Christensen. i think they did it more to appease fans/members and give us some hope, as well as adding an a-lister to our young team.

Agree with this and it's my reasoning too. It's a silly precedent too. Kid not even a year out of the draft runs home to a several million dollar contract...all the while that same club is paying for the other guy to go the other way!

on top of Bulldogs ridiculous contract for Boyd they also agreed to continue paying part of Griffen's new contract. This has to be the worst trade ever

WOWZERS!!!!

Boys has to now be the Bulldog's saviour! Will he be the next Jack Watts...

I think they've done well to at least get him for Griffen, though pick 6 could be a gun as well, who knows...

Liba gets the clearance, out to Bontempelli, long kick inside 50... BOYD!!!

I think we could be hearing that a bit in the next 10 years!

Collingwood got a steal with Greenwood for pick 25.
Stupid North for not signing him up mid year.
They develop him to become a senior player and the moment he starts to blossom they lose him and Collingwood get the benefit.
That is a **** list management situation that has happened.
And the money that he could have got has been given to Waite, Higgins and possibly Cooney!!!
1 youngster that can B&F runner up, showing great potential to really become an elite midfielder, or 3 injury prone players, in which are past there best. I know what I would be wanting.

Mitch Brown, Shane Kersten, Hamish McIntosh, Dawson Simpson, Rhys Stanley, Mitch Clark, Nathan Vardy, Josh Walker, Mark Blicavs.

All injury prone or unproven at the highest level.

Crisp will fit in perfect mate. Whole team has no foot skills bar 2 or 3
I think the Collywobbles have done alright here, no club want's to lose a player of Beams calibre but they played hardball with Brissy and came out with 2 good draft picks and a "project" player of sorts. Well played in my department.

I like this trade for the Blues and finally glad it's gone through.
Keep in mind Jaksch is not established as a key position player but to only lose 10 or so spots down in draft it seems an ok deal. Hopefully he becomes a quality key defender or key forward. We need a least 2 more so if is one of them might end up handy trade in long term. Know very little about the other guy.

Boyd trade very interesting. IF Boyd becomes a fully fledged star they win long term. But if he does not become a gun they lose in short term AND long term. They must be very confident he will become the real deal. 6 years time he maybe cheap.

Mark Whiley could very well be the Anthony Miles of 2015. Won the NEAFL Player of the Year in 2013. He's a tough inside midfielder at around 190cms and great around the stoppages. Has also tagged some big names and performed very admirably. He'll provide much needed midfield depth. "He is a player that was being sought for a trade in his own right and so while he is an add-on to the Jaksch deal he is more than an irrelevant "steak knives" sweetener to getting the other deal done".

Thanks for that mate, was wondering who this Whiley kid was myself.
Well explained!
