Hi Rowsus,
I was wondering what you think of Luke Parker. He seems to be a player that just keeps on getting better. He is strong, durable and at 22 years olds I'm wondering if we may have another in the next wave of supercoach super premiums coming through (other potentials on my list being Libba, Fyfe and Rockliff)
I don't think he's worth the risk at the price. He made a 21.6/game jump to 108.5 last season, and the history is pretty strong that that kind of jump is usually followed by a decrease the next season. Add that to the fact that Sydney is looking more and more like Hawthorn in their Mid set up/rotation, and I'd be loathed to take anyone outside of JPK (and I won't be taking him either!). No Hawthorn Mid has looked like going 115+ plus for a while, and I am guessing Sydney is heading in that direction too. JPK's incomparable CP rate is the thing that qualifies him as a possible exception.
At Parker's price you want/need him to hold or increase his average. I just can't see him achieving that.
You will see in
2014 Chasing Last Years Points..... that 35 players in the history of SC have managed the double feat of making a 20+/game average from one year to the next, and having that new average reaching 102+/game. Of those 35 players, only Ablett, Swan and Liberatore have managed an increased average the following season after their jump to 102+. We are talking 2 of the best SC players of all time, and Libba, who managed it last season. Parker could join them, but 32 out of 35 have failed to do it, so I will back him to drop in average this season too.
