Changed my team a lot after considering the byes in the midfield. Ideally, I'd love to start Ablett, Pendlebury, JPK, Watson. But it makes for some pretty horrid byes. My cousin brought up an interesting point while we were charging froffies and watching the cricket on Boxing Day, why not drop Ablett and start JPK? You know he's going to bleed some sort of money, and he could be a perfect upgrade target for Daniel Rich at his bye. Whilst this has been considered, I'm worried I'll leak too many points overall at the start from all of the GAJ C locks that will be going down, so I've reverted back to my original lock midfield of these 4.
Defenders are a pain, who would of thought that Burgoyne was going to be a contender again this season? One of the only blokes who has DPP still and could be used to utilize some sort of M/D swing, but at this point in time, I don't want to rely on my man Silk to see out 26 games again at his age. Love him though. So I've gone with Simpson purely because he shouldn't miss a game, and seriously shouldn't throw out more stinkers like he did last year with Kreuzer back in side. I can certainly see Carlton improving. Same applies to Smith. I've read a lot regarding Smith potentially moving up to the wing this year, and I can only see him scoring 90+ over the season. Hibberd is one I'm just waiting for. I've seen what he can do when he's in form and fit, he is a disposal machine, going to take the punt again this season and hope he can lock down 22 solid games and push up toward the 100 average that I'm sure he is capable of. Seedsman hopefully to slip in to the Lumumba/Shaw role across half back and most certainly increase on his average. Waters purely because when I started playing SC, this guy had a machine year, pumping out constant 95+ scores. At that price, compared to the Suckling mid price of last year, I think Waters will be in 100% of teams. Just have to hope he can stay fit and healthy!
Most rookies at the moment are speculative, but I'm locking in the starting ruck combo of Kreuzer/Bellchambers. Last year I went with Sandilands/Hickey, and it paid off. I think no matter what, you would be spending 2 trades in the ruck line over the year, so why not start somewhere low, hopefully make a bit of money, and by mid season, be far more certain with your #1 + #2 ruck calls. Goldstein would have been perfect pick up for me when Hickey went down, but I ended up **** farting around with McEvoy, then finally bringing in Jacobs.
Forward line, not much has to be said. It speaks for itself, most people are starting the same 4, or even the same 5 players in the forward line this season. Rookies are all speculative, although I'm fairly certain Mitch Clark will receive better delivery at Geelong than he has anywhere else, and will become one of the seasons better pick ups.
There's a brief explanation of what's to be expected down at xFKKHx F.C this season, wishing you all a happy new year, and a safe holiday period!
