Played around a bit the last few days and this will be my side for a few weeks.

DEF: Hibberd, Simpson, Shaw, C.Pearce, Waters, Fuller (Edwards, Goddard)
MID: Ablett, Rockliff, Pendelbury, Selwood, Fyfe, Heeney, Freeman, Boekhorst (Vandenberg, Amon, Atkins)
RUCK: Naitanui, Leuenberger (Cox)
FWD: Deledio, Martin, Swan, Bellchambers, Clark, Laverde (Hogan, Harper)

Hope 13 keepers with my new view is pick the best players in the line no mucking around. Rucks are a different beast all together, this I'm hoping on some luck. With the midfield i can see these 5 being in the top 8 and would count them as Ultra Preo's. All the rookies none of us really know who will get the gig so this will be swapped a lot. Guess i have to come up with a new name for the year.

Great minds think alike 6 minutes apart haha.
Dont no about you but ive selected kreuzer with not much confidence. Same with swanny. May downgrade tbc and upgrade swanny to buddy or gray if enough cash. Dont know how the new ruck scoring will effect kreuzer.

Yeah like your team mate where going about it the same way it looks like. Swan, TBC and leuenberger are the three im no to sure with but everyone seems to be picking swan so no loss if he bombs. Hope we have a few rookies step it up in the NAB and get a gig.

Yep looks it. Wouldnt mind a couple more round 11 bye players in to even it up a little but theres an element of risk to the ones I like. Bontempelli, dollhouse and so on. Dont really want to be relying on these blokes to kick off with. As you said I like the no mucking around proven players. If they drop in value and stink it up a little well so be it.

I have changed quite a few things around a bit in the last day or so , so please be brutal and spare me no pain

DEF: Hibberd, Birchall, Langdon, Ibbotson, Waters, Lever (Edwards, Maynard)
MID: Ablett, Pendelbury, Selwood, Fyfe, Parker, Petracca, Heeney, Freeman,(Lambert,Steele, Smith)
RUCK: Minson, Bellchambers (Read)
FWD: Deledio, Goddard, Swan, N. Riewoldt, Karnezis , Clark, (Hogan, Laverde)

Some of you were wondering about Swanny , leave him out at your own peril , he's fully fit for the first time in years and hungary to make amends

See as above with 9 mids on the field.

As for the rest, Langdon was a shock success rookie of last year. He will not reach premium status this year, and is not gaurenteed best 22. Ibbotson is a risk, very injury prone, also could be at peak fitness and out if the best 22 at freo.

As for the midfield, when you take one out it should probably be Parker. Had a breakout year last year, and may not back it up. I also don't know how I feel about so many top line premium mids. Could probably do with one less. Out of that lot I would lose Fyfe as her shares the byes with Pendles and Ablett. Petracca is a big sub risk. My sources tell me that he is doing better than the papers made out, but he will see the vest a bit in his first 10 games. Van Berlo is a more safe selection. Should avoid the vest, and be played as a best 22 mid.

Minson is more affordable than last year, but there is no indication that he will ever return to 2013 form. I like Maric and Nic Nat around that price though. Or Goldstein if you can spend a little more.

The forwards look pretty good. I think you could find better value that N. Riewoldt at that price. He shares the byes with H.bennell and T.Mitchell and will likely be out scored by both.

All in all, i would look as spending a bit more in the backline to turn Langdon into a premium, and turn Minson and N.Roo into more productive younger players.

First go at the Team Picker for me with alot depending on how many rookies we get named for round 1. Not an ideal bye structure but that will obviously change as the rookies change but for now it'll do.

I'd say Waters and Swan are the two i feel most unsure about so alot will depend on their pre-seasons.

Structure: 14-1-15
B: 4-1-3
M: 4-0-7
R: 2-0-1
F: 4-0-4

Byes: 6-12-12
B: 2-4-2
M: 1-5-5
R: 0-1-2
F: 3-2-3

Hey Idig, great looking team. Excluding midfield, we share 15 players out of the 19 possible...
However, Im a bit concerned with the job security of ur midfield rookies. Out of the 7 listed, I can only see freeman and possibly laverade and boekhorst playing round 1. I guess im probably being too picky here, but I doubt that a 4-0-6 midfield structure would save you from donuts early on in the season.

Cheers Pro, you're spot on, starting 4 rookies in the midfield will definitely test my testicular fortitude out lol. Barring injury, I'd say Heeney is almost no chance unless he happens to leapfrog Titch in the pecking order but from what i've read he's a bit of a beast so you never know. They've got no draft picks for a while i think (???) so they may want to get games into him sooner rather than later.

Keeping my fingers and toes crossed. we'll get a Tyson/Polec/Ellis type in the preseason and then maybe a Dunstan and with Freema/Laverde/Boekhorst looking likely I should be able to play some loophole games with my M11/F8 floating donut. Not ideal tbh but i don't really like any mid pricers this year so will stay as true to GnR as I can.

I don't think having 4 playing midfield rookies is a problem. The midfield rookies are usually the most obvious of the rookies to identify and ussually make the most cash.

With 3 backup spots I reckon if you can't find 4 out of 7 midfield rookies playing each week then your team is probably stuffed anyway as you won't be making enough cash.

Yeah for sure. I'd go as far as to say that if i can't find 6 playing, i'm stuffed as well :p

Are you just making those teams to see if it can be done? Those teams don't actually look too bad on paper with such major restrictions.
