Hey guys, first post here. I've been lurking for a little, familiarising myself with this great community and I have now found a reason to post.

We're all trying maximise our money and so I have been digging through numbers like the rest of us. What I have noticed is Brad Crouch on his return of injury, mid way through last year, averaged 102.78. He is priced at 94.54 but that is when you factor in his 2 games before injury. Then I read a headline on the Adelaide Advertiser: "Red-Hot Summer has Brad Primed" http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/sport...jury-free-summer/story-fnia3gmi-1227208664145

After reading it, I found this quote interesting: “I’m sweet at the moment, I’ve done every session so far — it’s been a little bit different to my first three pre-seasons,” Crouch said. “Now, in comparison to last season, my fitness is a lot higher. This time last season I was just starting to run again. It’s crucial, especially once the games roll around — that’s when you get the biggest benefit.’’ So what I take away from that quote is 2 things, the first thing is he was possibly underdone going into last season and that may explain his first 2 scores being low (injury as well). The second thing is he is sounding like he is fit and hungry going into this season.

The other player I've looked at is Sam Mitchell, injury interrupted season but once returned and go going, he was enormous. From round 20 he played in every game through to the grand final averaging 113! My main concern is his age, he is 32 and I fear he may be visited my "general soreness" once or twice during the season.

Anyway guys, nice to finally get involved. I look forward to hearing what you guys think.

Regards

I'm toying with Crouch vs Wines for M4 at the moment. Even if he becomes an M8 at the end of the season or last upgrade averaging 105-110 I'd be pretty happy. He'll hopefully get plenty of time in the guts too. I'm keen to jump on.

As for Mitchell I thinks he's just got the age factor working against him. Chances are he might have a similar injury plagued year as last. Happy to be proven wrong but I Cant see him near the top 10 midfielders for the year.

Great first post by the way.

Welcome aboard TOP. thanks for the input. Crouch is an interesting one and someone who's been on my radar. i'm playing safe with 4-0-7 or else i would have potentially snuck him or wines in at M5. might be worth watching tho.

Mitch, too old for me. good player just not SC relevant this year.

Is everyone steering away from Robbie Gray purely because of price? I expect he'll be a positive POD for anyone willing to risk starting him at that price.

I'm a little surprised that BJ is taking all the attention and that Buddy and Gray have become PODs. What are we expecting BJ to do other than average 102-105 again? I know that's a decent return for a forward but as he turns 30 this year, $ for $ I would have thought Buddy is the better starting pick of the two.
Goddard is a proven durable and consistent supercoach premium and Robbie Gray has had one good year. Never considered Gray before because of his appalling (until last year) injury record. If I'm paying Robbie Grays price up front I would want more than one good year. Same reason for not starting Malceski. I can't see Gray, Malceski or Goddard for that matter improving on last years effort, but for me Goddard gets the nod as he has an excellent record over a long period of time. Haven't started Franklin for as long as I can remember (At least 5 years) and have never regretted it. Bought him in when he bottomed out a couple of years ago to negate the negative pod (as he is capable) but is a roller coaster that I can well do without. He will miss games. Ditto Heath Shaw.

When you aggressively trade and pin your ears back for the final 6 weeks with no trades you can't afford to be praying that these guys magically become consistent/uninjured/not suspended/rested.

Robbie Gray was outstanding last year and may well prove me wrong but it's a gamble I'm very comfortable taking. Ditto Franklin and Shaw.

Currently have Devon Smith in over Swan. Don't ask me why
Been there to, the questions to ask. Will he score more over the year? Possibly. Will he try harder/hungry? Likely. Is he fitter? Likely. Who is a player on the improve? Smith. Track record? Swan. Value? Swan . Durability? Smith. Throw T. Mitchell in there as well with a, Will he get a game?
Asking the same questions between Wines/Dangerfield.
Swan and Dangerfield very hard to ignore though.

Yeah I've got both Mitchell and Smith. Titch is a lock for me.

As for Danger I've said before I don't really want to go near him but I think I'm alone in that. Got his teammate B Crouch at m5 though

I'm not getting the resistance with Danger? Huge ceiling, the biggest in that price range.

On Gray, I've always been a fan. I think what we saw last year was what he can do if fully fit. I'd back him to match last year although I'm unlikely to start him. He's short listed and if funds allow I think he's a better option than Goddard.

I'd pick Gray over Goddard but will start neither

What about Sharrod Wellingham? Yes his past averages are pretty crap, but sounds like he has had a full pre season. And there are plenty of spots up for grabs in the West Coast midfield. DPP helps too :)

Andrew Gaff is mid only though, not going to be a top 16 mid I wouldn't imagine, yet to break 100 average for the year even. Better to take the risks in the back line and maybe the ruck this year I reckon as there are pretty solid forward and mid options

Anyone got an opinion on Dalhhaus? Was pretty close to picking him last year, could he be a keeper?

Nah, was meant to be sarcasm as all I've heard for a few years are how all our players are going to leave :)
