Love to hear peoples thoughts on Yarran ... could be anything but i am almost over picking him ...
reckon he is a certainty to get back to at least 80+ as a minimum. can easily see a 85+ avg though. heard he may move further up the ground at times this year as well.
onky reason you wouldnt pick him is if you like one of the other mid priced backs more

Not that many other guys that stand out around his price ... you can go down to Bock if he is fit ... even Hibbert must be a watch if he can stay fit ...

Priddis is my M4, looks like he will be 'unique' this year. He is the most consistant scorer over last two years. FACT!

Tempting to go with Priddis, S.Mitchell and S.Thompson ... all very consistent and reliable players who should average 100-115 mark. It really depends however on how players like Shuey/Redden/Gaff etc look in the NAB in terms of taking the next step.

The first player I thought of was Pendlebury, so let's compare their consistency.

Even in percentage terms (Pendlebury 89.7% 96+, Priddis 85.7% 96+), I think most would say that Pendlebury is more consistent than Priddis.
I will concede has been very reliable, and even consistent, but I'm not sure you could say it is a FACT, that he has been the most consistent over the last 2 years.

Great use of the stats as usual Rowsus, thanks. Looking at the 96+ stat it seems like they are pretty even, you're just paying a premium for Pendle's regular 126+top end scores. I've actually gone both Pendlebury and Priddis at the moment along with M.Murphy and JPK as my top 4 starting prem's along with Goddard (for his m/d link) although i can see Goddard ending up in defence if the cheap defensive options arn't looking any good.

I knew you would come out with some stats Rowsus regarding Priddis.
From my POV it is really interesting to see Pendlebury's, just confirms in my mind that he will be a good buy in 2013.
Don't have a run down of scores like this for Joel Selwood do you?
It is just that he is the midfielder I might give the flick to but unsure which way I would go, another MID premium or use cash elsewhere.

His stats will be slightly skewed by his concussion in rd 1 2011 which resulted in 24 points but pretty consistent you'd think. Another few I'd look at for consistency would be Gaz and maybe Swan. Cotchin and Lids were bloody consistent last year as well.

Not bad, but his head first style of play means he will nearly always have injury affected scores.

Selwood really needs to improve his outside game to help his average imo. But I wouldn't put it past him, and seeing as he's averaged 117 the last 3 years when you take out his 24, the knowledge of what he will at least average makes him pretty appealing imo. I think he is going to be a bit of a POD next year as people go for guys like Dangerfield and Murphy ahead of him.

Cotch would have been my 2nd guess, if I needed one. Though his 2011 probably didn't match Priddis in consistency.

Swan has 0/39 below 80, 5/39 between 81-95, and 11/39 between 96-110
Gaz has 3/40 below 80, 3/40 between 81-95, and 3/40 between 96-110.

Depending on what measure of consistency you want to use, either of those 2 could be called the most consistent.
I didn't uses Gaz, as he has 3 games below 80, and I didn't use Swan, as he has 16 games below 110.

Exactly. Do you measure consistency by standard deviation or percentage of 100+ scores? Very hard to determine consistency as everyone has their own definition of it.

I'll be taking Selwood alongside of Murphy.

Got Selwood, but not Murphy. Staying away from players with interrupted pre-seasons this year. Definitely will find his way into my squad over the season though.

The 1st games are about 9 weeks away...lol... not 3 or 4... Murphy should be more than fine to go Round 1 and be in top notch shape.

Still, he'll have at least 12 weeks less conditioning than a player I could pick instead of him. Also not a fan of this no contact til NAB cup rule Malthouse has put in. Seems to be softening up players if you ask me, and their bodies will be less conditioned to heavy bumps.

79k difference in price however between Pendles and Priddis ... so it all depends what you do with that 79k and if you have other captain options (i.e. Ablett and Swan in your team ... )

Was referencing AFL prospectus. "priddis has been the most consistant player in the AFL across the past two seasons, racking up at least 80 champion data ranking points in 46 of his 47 games in this time." I thought this would mean he was the only one, obviously not. And i have no idea why 80 points is the benchmark for consistancy? Maybe for a mid-pricer but not a premium.

I sometimes think they are just trying to say something positive.....about.....every......single......player! It gets a bit monotonous, and means that the notes/descriptions aren't a true reflection of their real opinions. It's like looking at the comments about a horses chances on the computer formguide the TAB prints out and puts up. In every race 10 out of 12 horses have something positive as a comment. When they have a player that deserves a truly positive comment, such as Priddis, I think they sometimes just raise the bar a little too far, just to try and create that point of difference to seperate that player from the rest of the cattle.

Wow thats a new one. Anyone know if that was the case at collingwood?
