Hi Rowsus,
I am interested to know what you think of four of the more popular midfield picks in the $500K-$550K range.
The four I have in mind are Wines, Crouch, A.Swallow and Griffin (assuming back is fine).
It feels like one of these will break 110+ this year, but it really is a crap-shoot on which one (in my mind at least).
Hi WHW,
I don't like Griffin at all. Reportedly still having back problems, and only the 1 110+ season by the age of (nearly) 29 doesn't inspire me there is another one coming. In his spike year he was the leading Midfielder for score involvements. Just one of the areas he needs to get back to be 110+ again. Well priced on potential scoring, but I'm not highly confident he'll make top 10.
Swallow has been there before, but like Griffin has only been there once. He's a year younger, has excuses for the last 2 seasons, and is $30k cheaper than Griffin. I think there is less risk to taking Swallow, as if he fails, he should at least hold or increase in value. He's currently sitting at somewhere between M4 and M6 in my various versions of my team.
Wines and Crouch are hard to split, and both appear to have upside. I think there is little downside in taking a punt on either of them as well. In the team that has Swallow at M6, Crouch is sitting at M5. I'm just a little worried about Wines' early draw.
I agree with your sentiment, it's a crapshoot, but one of the
three could be 110+, and I think Crouch and Wines are the most likely.
