Hey Rowsus,

Alot of people like myself are considering jumping off Swan. Do you plan on replacing him with a rookie and having 3 premos and 3 rookie fwd line? Or have you gone for another F4 similiar value to Swan? I currently don't have Ablett or Rocky so have Swan atm at F4. But thinking of dumping Swan for Rookie to free up cash and getting in Rocky. I am now really concerned about not starting with Ablett or Rocky and its doing my head in
Hey Slammer,
I've got Lycett at R4, partly for Ruck cover, partly because I'm not sold on NicNat playing more than 18 or 19 games, and a few of those being "niggle affected". I haven't had Swan in my team for the last 4 or 5 weeks, but I do concede, he might punish me for it. I can understand your hesitance at not having one of Ablett and Rocky, and to be honest, I think the safer option is to have one of them, than running with Swan. That being said, if you are confident that it will be a year where a Pendlebury/Selwood 125 will be a competitive Captain score (due to Ablett and Rocky not going bigger on a semi regular basis), then there's not too much to lose by not starting one of them. I had them both in my team for so long, I just feel a bit sheepish about not starting at least one of them. Right now it is Ablett sitting in my team, but only because he is more expensive than Rocky, and I don't want to fiddle with other changes to be able to go Rocky to Ablett if I decide I'd prefer him at Rnd 1.

What do you expect Lycett to average? I had a quick look and in the 5 games last year where either Cox or Nic Nat didn't play he averaged 94!

Also do you think Adcock and Birchall can return to 90+ averages?

Hi Rowsus. Just wondering what you think of Lin Jong this year? He seems to have a lot of talent (especially for a kid who only started playing AFL when he was 15!). I have a feeling the coach will give him an opportunity this year as he has certainly proved himself in my opinion. However, there is also the risk he will be given tagging roles as has been the case in the past.

What do you think we would need him to average to be worth the extra $ over say a Cripps/Newton/Anderson type?

I think Lycett can average Mid to high 80's. If you use him as Ruck cover, he adds around 3pts/game to his average, everytime he covers your missing Rucks. If he averages 85, and covers the R1/R2 position 4 times, he has effectively averaged around 97.

I think Birchall can, but I am worried about his injury history. Adcock could, but I'm not backing him to get it done though.

Hi Bobbie,
I seriously considered Jong, but in the end, I said no. I think he could get some decent scores at times, given the holes in the Bullies Mids. I think he needs to average Mid to high 80's to do better than the cheaper Rookies, at least. That is why I decided against him. That, and he's handball happy. I'd like to see him kick the thing a bit more!

Yo Rowsus.

Do you think there is any chance of Gunston being a top 10 fwd by the end of the year?

Cheers :)

Hey Rowsus,

My question is if you were to choose one between Ward and Griffin to start in your side, who would it be and why.

I think they will average within 3-7 ponts of each other and the extra 70k you save on Griffin could mean an extra 200k rookie, difference between Maric & Mumford etc.

Before Rowsus gives his informed answer, I think he is terrific player, had him all last year. He can play all over the ground and when thrown around by the coach can get a fair bit of it. Needless to say a great kick for goal. Probably won't get to top 10 but that's due to so many mid types having forward status as well. Have a man crush, like watching him play.

Hey Rowsus,
What's your thoughts on starting big Mummy this year?
A lot of people seem to be going Goldy/Nicnat
He looks fit this year and we all know once he gets going he can go huge. Has a massive ceiling and could be a big POD?

Hi Rowsus,

Was wondering what you thoughts about the idea of having C Adamson from West Coast or someone else on the bench in defence as a loophole instead of trying to find another rookie?

Positive signs, but I generally take what players say about future roles with a grain of salt. Quite often Coaches don't have things "locked in" at this stage. Things change quickly, and I wouldn't plan my team on anything a players says about role changes.

Yo PC,
Yes, there is a chance, but I wouldn't want to take odd on about him doing it. I don't think he will be far off it, and if he can turn those 41, 51, 51, 66, 66 into 70's and 75's, he's probably there. He also has the The Dreaded 192+cm curse to deal with as well. He's a great player, and great to watch, but the only upside I see to him in SC is, he should be PODish.

Hey BigRuss,
I'm not a Griffen fan, and I will be surprised if he can do both of posting 112+ season AND play 19-20+ games. For that reason I would take Ward, who has some good potential upside. Funny you mention the difference between Mummy and Maric. I am facing the same dilemma. Take play A, and I have Mummy, take player B, and I'll have to take Maric. Though Mummy will no doubt hit the wall at some stage, as will Maric probably, I expect Mummy to go go missing first.

Hey brad182,
here is what I wrote at post #3294, on 12/3/2015
Mumford - Has a similar draw to start the season as last season, and could very easily start huge again. StK, Melb, Syd, GC are all in the teams that give up big scores to Rucks (Refer post #3279 in this thread). He is priced at career high opening Price (around $120k higher than the last 2 seasons!), and has only managed 19 games in a season twice. Given the fact we know he will miss games, he is priced so highly, and the uncertainty of how Rucks will score, most are avoiding him. He could certainly make a good POD, while he is there, but we just don't know how long that will be! Given the high price, and the fact he has more uncertainty about his ability to stand up, I too will avoid him, but I can understand those that take him.

Thanks for the thoughts Rowsus - haven't picked him in my starting side, just wondered if I should watch him during the season :)

Hi Juzzo,
given we are all scared we might be facing a donut in Defs by Rnds 2 or 3, if the Rookies go missing, I think it would be crazy to start a Def Rookie as your floating donut. I would think someone like Krakouer if he isn't selected/promoted is a better option. We have more confidence in our Fwd Rookies than our Defs, and the ideal floating donut is someone who might get selected down the track (placeholder problems aside), when we have others that have "gone missing" to use in the loopholes.
