Thanks GG and Rowsus; I'll be jumping on McGovern too this week, but he'll be going up forward to form a swing set with Shaun Higgins. I'll be going against your advice to bring McKenzie in instead of Glenn to the midfield, but it's only because McKenzie offers DPP flexibility. In fact, it might be one of the most convoluted trades of all: Goodes out, Higgins to Defence, Krakouer to Forwards, and McKenzie in. Then I will immediately switch McKenzie and Newnes, and loophole Newnes in the midfield and place McKenzie at D8. When I trade NvB out, Krakouer will come back into the midfield and McGovern will come in.
That is convoluted! :D
Aren't you glad you can do that double and triple switching now? You couldn't do it in 2013 and earlier!

So very glad. Actually, now that I think about it, I can switch Newnes while I'm doing the trade.

Mate I put this in trade threads and i hope you can PLEASE respond before tip off (I know it is short notice and a busy man),

Based upon my team I am looking at :

NN -> Martin
Salem -> Glenn (via Krakouer)

Thoughts please?

Leuenberger is in; and I'm not sure if it'll be worth bringing Martin in if Leuey is there to gobble up some of his points.

Leuenberger can't even tie his shoe laces IMO. I believe Martin will score 120+ this week but I'm concerned with the full season.

Yeah; that's the issue. Maybe Leuey will get dropped again; maybe he'll get injured. I reckon it's a risky trade; but one that could come off; although I'm no expert.

I can understand where you are coming from, and I reckon Martin would be close to a must have, if he was slightly cheaper, and Leuey had a decent LTI. He could still very well be worth the risk, as if you are sitting him at R2 he only needs to be a 105 player to fill that job well. Even if Leuey does adversely affect him, I can see him achieving that. You really would love another 2 or 3 games info of the two together this season, just to be sure, but I think it is a risk that should pay off, if I was forced to say yes or no now.

FYI - No-one involved in those trades is playing tonight, so there's no need to make those trades before tonight's game starts.

Rowsus thank you mate. I am pulling the trigger. May or may not work out but with Stef's BE of 69 I think it is now or never. SC Rules I believe is lock the rucks before Rd 8. So now is the time for me. Yes I still need cover but that is a whole different kettle of fish as wide open. Last year I had Jacobs and Sandi and picked Martin up cheap as ruck cover and they all scored the same for the last 6 rounds. Hoping a rookie pops up Martin style this year but I can't see it happening.

Hello Rowsus, it's me again!

I thought long and hard last night whether to do the Lang>JPK trade, in the end I decided to hold onto Lang as I feel he hasn't quite made enough cash as a Rookie and being a RD13 Rookie certainly went in his favour. He duly saluted with his highest score of 80, so hopefully this will kick-start his cash generation over the next few weeks. Now, my dilemma is who to cull for JPK?

The uncertainty and lack of information regarding the extent of CEY injury has clouded my thoughts, I recalled that he did copped a knock to his leg towards the end of RD4 game but didn't seem to show any signs of discomfort last week. Would've much preferred if he was actually rested due to load management. In my eyes, he's done his job as a Rookie, made 209K so is in the window to cash out. I acknowledge that he's probably one of the better MID Rookie scoring wise and I'm potentially selling him short of his optimum price, however, I've also been guilty of being too attached to a 'good' Rookie in the past and reluctant to move them on when the opportunity presents.

My Rookies pool is quite healthy at this stage, I have 14 'good' cash generating Rookies (7 from RD13) and 8 upgrades to make before I consider luxury trades. Along with CEY, I have McIntosh, Cripps, Hogan & Clark who'll be first in line if I needed to trade leading up to the MBRs. If my trades goes according to plan, I will have NO RD11 Rookies left come RD11 so that has worked out well enabling me to be more aggressive during RD12 and RD13 trade window.

I think I HAVE to sacrifice CEY in order to bring in JPK this round (not playing=no cash generation) as my other Rookies are playing and generating cash. I don't think I can afford to sit him on the bench as Selwood now has an injury cloud and I'm also running a D/M floating donut, so would leave my MID bench too exposed.

A week is a long time in football, even longer in this SC caper!

What would Rowsus do?

Having been stewing on it overnight now Rowsus, I've been thinking is it worth going the extra $15K and getting Tom McDonald instead of McGovern this week??

God I am unsure on what to do atm :confused:

Hello again, THCLT.
It looks like it is a choice between CEY, who should easily make another $90-$100k but is Rnd 11, and Hogan, who probably makes $30k, is a Rnd 13 and also (temporarily) breaks your M/F link. I wouldn't let Selwood's hand decide for you, you have what I believe is cover enough.
If you don't think you'll need CEY's extra $70k in 4 weeks, use him. If you think every dollar will be vital to your plans, use Hogan.
Well done on holding Lang. You can thank me for him getting his season best score......... I traded him out yesterday! :( :p :)

Even though McG has only taken 3 more marks, and 2 more contested marks than McDonald, he just seems more likely to maintain that scoring with those marks than McDonald. I have really noticed McG taking those contested marks from opposition kicks, but haven't noticed McDonald doing it as much, though obviously we would have to conclude that most of McD's CM's are from opposition kicks.
My pecking order for the tall Defs was those 2 1st and 2nd, I just feel McG is more likely to maintain his scoring from here than McD. I could be way off track though!

Haha I certainly hope you are on track. I've decided now that I will go Sinclair ---> Glenn (due to Sinclair being sub), and Lumumba ---> Shaw, with the plan to get McGovern next week as well as possibly McKenzie.

Thanks for your help mate

Hey Rowsus, Picken has been playing quite well the last couple games but he scored a couple 50's in the first couple of rounds. Was this due to someone getting injured and him playing a better role? Interesting to hear your thoughts

Hey Rowsus

Was wondering what is the MAXIMUM price I should be paying for:

Defenders
Midfield
Forwards

for upgrade time.

I either pay too much for a player, attracted by their current scoring or spend the coin on a "fallen premium" who just keeps on falling!!

Hopefully this year I can make some shrewd decisions and find my ranking going upwards, instead of coming down like Xmas decorations.

Thanks for your time.

Rowsus please remind you to why you (and I) picked Young.
1 point at quarter time.
My logic was, cheap mid/fed capable of averaging 80. Had excellent SC/TOG in the past, and an excellent NAB (for the first time). Seemed to be freed up from sub vest and was playing attacking role. Port draw opens up nicely which should allow for some points.

Where did we go wrong??.

Interested to hear your thoughts Rowsus.

Would it be a horrible call to bring in Rockliff this week (despite his huge break even)?

I have $506k to spend on a mid upgrade and think Rockliff is the best option at that price.

I know just about everyone will bring him into their team in a fortnight, but I'm tossing up going a week early and potentially getting a big score that others might miss out on.

EDIT - I've managed to swing enough cash to bring in Robbie Gray this week. Rocky can wait a week.
