Hey Rowsus;

I'm planning to fund Edwards - Ablett via a downgrade to Maynard; if both play, who should I trade out - Alex Pearce or Joel Hamling? I want to trade a defender out for DPP purposes; I'll hopefully be able to use Saad to cover 2 lines and loophole Cripps/Saad/Steele over the next few weeks.

Hey Rowsus,

I know you'll be pretty busy atm, but if you happen to get a chance would you care to share your thoughts on this :)

Is Ablett worth getting firstly??
And secondly is it worth basing my final 4 trades around the fact that getting him is going to be much more sufficient to my side, rather than settling with getting a cheaper alternative?? Which may save a trade or two which could come in handy down the track.

Team is linked.

Cheers,
Goodie

Hi Rowsus,

Hope you had a good weekend, in SC and on the punt??

Quick one, i have 5 trades left and need to trade Cripps.
Should i a/ trade him straight to Rocky and keep 4 in the bank just in case.
or b/ trade him and Boston to Gaz/Maynard, leaving me 3 trades but another DPP in the mids (with questionable JS perhaps?)

i'm thinking straight to Rocky, have to deal with Selwood if he misses but have a couple to cover him in Lumumba/Lambert.

Thanks mate, have a ripping week and enjoy your night with the SCS crew!
Hi ****,
I had a good weekend, but we missed the footyquad when Hawthorn thumped Freo, but it's all good.
Well done on ignoring my advice on Rance. I suggested Oxley to Rance might only get you 100 points, and it gets you 76 points in the the first week!
We know Selwood is only 1 week now, so unless we had already decided to dump him, he's probably a hold for now.
We'd all love to sneak to Gaz into our teams, and the only problem I see for you, is that your Def bench potentially becomes the back up for all 4 lines!
Def - Lumumba, Hamling
Mid - Lambert, Maynard, McKenzie
Ruc - Read
Fwd - Dale Goddard
It's quite conceivable by next week you might only have Lumumba and hopefully Hamling acting as back up for all 4 lines.
My thinking would be, if Hamling, Dale, and Maynard are selected, even though that is no guarantee of future JS, I'd go the Gaz route, otherwise I'd tread carefully.

Hey mate, hope all is well
just wondering what your thoughts on this are
Pearce - Maynard and Amon - Daniel
leaves 3 trades and 172k in the bank
next week i will go Selwood - Gaz or Rocky
but im thinking i will skip Gaz (Massive risk) and go Selwood and Tich - Rocky and Deledio
this means 1 more trade
or i can go Selwood - Rocky and Pearce - Maynard. this also opens a dpp with Mckenzie
love any thoughts
thanks mate
Am now thinking Pearce and Selwood -Maynard and Rocky this week
Then trade Smith - Docherty next week

Hi Rowsus,

4 trades left and wondering if I should use one to trade out either Amon or Glenn to Caleb Daniel (if he gets named) by swinging Steele into the Mids - I'm going to have to play a rookie to cover Selwood. I have Lambert in the Fwds and Bont in the Mids onfield so Steele in the mids is the plan - just a question of timing. Do you think either of Riley Knight or Taylor Garner might be a better option than Daniel and hold off a week?

If you think I should bring in Daniel - if poth get named this week which of Amon or Glenn do you think is likely to get more games?

I can't afford Gaz but I could go a straight swap of Selwood for Rocky - with so few trades I take it you would advise against it? In truth with Smith at D6 and Ryder at F6 he's probably not my biggest problem :p. Realistically I'm not going to make finals in any league of importance to me and I'm trying to improve my ranking so is it worth the gamble?

Looking forward to buying you a beer on Friday.

Hi Rowsus,

My plan this week was to go Oxley to Hodge. Now that Selwood is out is this the opportunity to go Selwood to Ablett. My mids are complete but Selwood and Griffen have underperformed this year. Griffen has put together his best 3 weeks in a row and will now make some more money if he can go past BE 75.

I could even go Griffen/Selwood to Ablett/Rockliff (don't totally trust Rocky's ribs yet).

Defence is the area that needs fixing with Oxley/Smith the weakest links. Oxley could score ok this week as rain won't stuff him up (roof will be closed).

I have 11 trades and $245 in the bank.

Which way do I go?

Shame you aren't having those drinks at Doyles (one of my locals). Enjoy Friday night.

cheers Saint

Hey J44,
at least with Selwood missing this week, it gives those who want to be rid of him a good reason to trade. I like your second suggestion better than your first, but I\m still worried about sidewise trading Selwood, particularly if you don't have all your other ducks in a row.

Gday Rowsus.

Hope your enjoying the lovely Melbourne weather!! Unfortunately I can't get to Melbourne for the game. Would have liked to catch up with all the SCS members kicking my butt this year.

Hoping you get a bit of time to answer a question which seems popular this week. Is Gaz worth it? I can get him with 1 trade, Wallis to Gaz. I will have 4 trades left which I am inclined to sit on even though I probably need 1 more mid.

Cheers.
G'day freowho,
it's good to be back, but I laugh at how everyone says it is cold here. -10 is cold, not 8!!!
I like it. It chews a lot of cash, but puts Wallis to good use. If I had the cash, I'd be doing the same.

Hey Rowsus, hope you are njoying your time back in sunning melb!

Like everyone it seems this week, I too am having a bit of trouble whether to get gaz or not. Last week I worked my trades so I could go Lonie to gaz in one hit, but the former decided to score half his projected and the latter scored like he had played every game this year. This left me short by $3,000!

Now I could always go Lonie/Nelson to Gaz/Knight. This would open up D/M and F/M links and leave me with 5 trades for the rest of the year.
Or I could go Lonie to Danger. This would leave me with 6 trades but only a D/M link.

My question is what is more important; all positions linked and gaz or only one positon linked to mids, an extra trade and danger instead of gaz?

Thanks in advance mate
Hey bender,
it's all good. I don't care about the weather, it's all about the family and friends!
Given we aren't talking about 1 or 2 trades, but 5 or 6, I say go for Gaz, and the full set of DPP's.

Hey Eagling,
Pearce is facing - Dawson (Test), Silvagni (1-2 weeks), Johnson (3-5 weeks) coming back. Just my opinion, but I think Hamling has better JS, but this weeks selection will tell us more.

Hey GG,
if you can get him for two trades, without compromising other areas, then yes. If it costs you more, or causes compromises, then no.

Hi Rowan,
Four trades left, a full side (sort of), is Ablett worth it to burn two? Seeing a few doing this, I doubt the wisdom this far out?
I hope you have a ball Friday night buddy.

Hey Rowsus,

What do you think? Sidebottom +20k or Rocky considering that I am planning on trading out Lumumba next week. I have 5 trades left before making any this round. I'm planning on going Sinclair>Caleb via Steele to Mids and CEY>Sidebottom/Rocky which leaves me with 70/50k. That gives me about 430/410k to get a defender in next week. But, if Eski has another good game I might trade him in, so it would be better if I went to Rocky in that case.

Thanks Row, think i'll conserve and take a risk on Rock over Gaz and keep the 4 trades. i'll be needing them in finals no doubt!

Thanks for your feedback Row. Further to this, what about trading in Danger as opposed to Gaz and pocketing the difference. My other trade would still be Lonie to Knight to fund the trade for starters and keep DPP.

My point is really Danger or Gaz haha

Pretty simple. I have 6 trades left and am considering two options, one to make cash and conserve trades and one to get rockliff into the team:

Downgrade Lonie to Downie (via dpp) which leaves me with a permanent 0 in the forward line for Cox but hopefully gives me ruck cover
Upgrade Saad to Rockliff

Or

Downgrade Lonie to Downie (or Daniel) and bank the cash and hang onto 5 trades with my current team. Saad is good DPP cover with the Maynard link, and is good enough to score 70-80 points on the ground each week. Leaves me with Steele playing on the field pretty much every week.

I would be getting rid of Bennell for Ablett essentially, and then be loopholing McGovern and Steele presumably at F6, which isn't the worst considering Bennell is essentially just sitting there atm, and I'd still need to field Steele in the MIDs if I were to not get Ablett or another premo MID yet.

Thanks mate :)

Hi Rowsus,

J Kelly vs Malceski for D6. Both around the same price. Malceski has been playing well since Ablett rejoined the team but is it only because Saad is not playing... Who do you think will score more from here on out?

Hi guys,
I must apologise. After answering every question posted here, and 99% of them in a timely manner, I wasn't able to get to some late last week.
I am currently on transit home, and I'm writing this from Singapore.
I should be back on deck by about Thursday, and will do my best to catch up with the back log then.
