Just keep in mind that at RD 13 the rookies won't necessarily be donuts but could be upgraded to post bye premiums.
Yeah cheers. I just have 13 guys currently missing from round 13 and only 6 from round 12 so need to start getting that balance right early. Those trades during byes always get eaten up with lots of unforeseen problems.

Have definitely pegged Roughead for a trade in round 13 to a post bye premium as one of my trades.......if Roughead manages to last that long in my side
but I think my round 13 rookies in my side will need to go by that stage as most likely be topped out before then. WHE might last the distance till then though???

Having come to my senses, I'm thinking I will keep Beams. I'm covering him with Adams, by trading Florent to EVW, and Parfitt to Parsons, giving me 226k. Next week, I'll go 1 up 1 down, and when Beams comes back, trade Otten to a midfielder (hopefully Myers).

Still doesn't solve my problem of bench depth.

Alternatively, if Florent is named this week, I might trade Beams to EVW and bank a lot of cash. Not sure.

I don't mind the notion of trading out Beams this week. He is out for 2 weeks minimum and knowing him it will extend out to a lot more than 2 weeks.

I will likely be trading him out this week fwiw.

Will you be upgrading or downgrading?

I'm thinking double downgrade of Beams, but can't help but feel like that's going backwards... Gives me 478k to play with though.

That's a good plan, but just interested to know who's your targeted downgrade for next week?

Haven't decided on whether I will upgrade or downgrade. The cupboard may be bare as far as rookies go next week so may be forced to downgrade.

If Parsons could miss this week and then come back the following week then that would be ideal but I'm tipping he's straight back in this week.

Make it up as I go along :p.

I think I was projecting 2 weeks ahead actually. I'm waiting for Myers to get named this week. Hmm.

Beams out could lead to a double upgrade next week but feels like it's going backwards.

A potential option is:

Beams and Parfitt for EVW and Parsons - 478k cash

Next week

Hampton/Otten to Shaw and a premo mid, throw Adams back into the backline.

That would leave my team looking like:

Adams, Laird, Doch, Shaw, Marchbank, EVW
Danger, JPK, Pendles, Fyfe, Bont, Selwood, Dusty (maybe), SPP (Florent, Barrett, JDC)
Nank, Sandi (Strn)
Dahl, Macrae, Higgins, Butler, Balic, Parsons (Pickett, Eddy)

18 trades and 6 rookies left to upgrade... Not sure if it's the best plan.

Currently my team looks like
Adams, Laird, Doch, Marchbank, Otten, Hampton (Stewart, Newman)
Danger, JPK, Pendles, Fyfe, Bont, Selwood, Beams, SPP (Florent, Barrett, JDC)
Nank, Sandi (Strn)
Dahl, Macrae, Higgins, Butler, Balic, Parfitt (Pickett, Eddy)

So those trades still don't help my bench depth.

Just interested. What has made you decide that you should keep Beams? This week, the 2 down makes sense, but long term I'm not sure.

He was scoring well below what I, and I think many, expected. Was very likely going to be a step up option and he's got another injury, and an annoying niggly one at that. I don't really want to use another injury trade, but I don't see him coming back and being any better. Two weeks out and the bye - not sure I can keep him.

(Mind you, my overall season is shot, so I'll be looking at banking the cash for upgrades, or left field options.)

I think I might trade, but the worry is going backwards. Can we afford to go up this week when there's 2 great downgrade options?

No, you're right on this week - was just adding that to original post. So in that sense, for sure.

I'm trying to work out what to do still. Beams provides a lot of options, but the right one is less clear.

I think I'll only trade Beams if Cameron isn't named so I'm forced to go Beams to Grundy. Otherwise, I'll stick with my plans of double down and double up the week after and then hope Beams is back in R9.

+1 and even then there's still some uncertainty on which way i'll go.

The timing of Beams' injury worries me though. If it's a 2 weeker, he misses rds 7 and 8, comes back for 9 and 10, then has a bye rd 11.

BUT if it takes him a little longer to recover and he needs an extra week, i can see them giving him round 10 off as well, as he'll then have a bye in r11 so he'll get a really nice block of weeks to fully recover.

This is what has me 50/50 when really i should be 80/20 with holding him considering the amount of trades i've made and lack of bench cover i have.

He's definitely gone for me. Beams has had troubles with his quad before and the fact the Lions stated in their press release that he will miss at least 2 weeks then be assessed suggests to me they aren't confident it will be just 2 weeks. If they where... they would have just said he will miss 2 weeks. I just don't reckon he will be back before his Bye.

He was under performing for what I expected anyway, So he will go for me.

Will have to wait for AFL teams to drop to work out how I still find a suitable ruck replacement after eating a donut last week.
Greene suspended makes things tricky to score well with so many rookies still on field up forward.
Ruck Division and Forwards been a nightmare for me all season it seems to this point.
Hopefully AFL team drops help out.
Beams 2 weeks out is troubling when rucks and forwards where I need to work on and EVW down back probably needs grabbing on bubble down back. Preuss playing would ease the pressure of where I can trade best for this week.

Without trying to argue against trading him, he was averaging 102 before last week. As a comparison Treloar 99, Fyfe 105, Hannas 91. I don't think his scoring before the injury affected 66 last week is a reason to trade by itself.
