Hi Rowsus,
Best of luck for the season!
Thought I'd get in early this year to get your thoughts re J. Kelly v Parker. Kelly seems the obvious choice - better bye round, easier draw to start the season and likely higher scoring potential however I believe Parker also has good potential and he gives me enough cash to trade him (if necessary) to Danger (yes I'm holding a warchest!) in a few weeks. Lets me assess the scoring of Parker/Danger and plan the timing of a Parker/Danger trade or come up with something else if Parker is doing well. Also leaves me plenty of cash to improve my team elsewhere if I decide to delay the Danger trade. Possibly upgrade a poor rookie to someone like an Armitage type, or Christensen to a premium forward (once we have a better idea who's the best choice - Heeney, Greene, Menegola - could even be Petracca!).
Have done a rough analysis and figure that getting Parker over Kelly will cost me about 75 points (Kelly @120, Parker @105) over 5 rounds (less if Dangerfield trade completed earlier), but seems to give me a lot more flexibility and potential opportunities to more than make up these lost points across my team (if I use the cash to upgrade elsewhere than on an early Danger trade), not to mention that Parker could turn out to average 110+ and stay in my team. Parker (7% ownership) much much more of a POD than Kelly (25%) too, if he does finish up staying in my team.
I definitely want Kelly (and Danger) in my team at some stage this year, so question my sanity in not starting with Kelly (given the likely lost of points and the trade it will cost me later) but wondering if going Parker early provides me with more options and has more potential long term benefit for my team?
If I go with Kelly over Parker however, I'm not sure I'll have enough cash to swing a direct Danger trade in a few weeks time nor do I know who I would potentially use to make the Danger trade.
Anything you might be able to suggest would be greatly appreciated!
