Will be interesting to see how the Renegades divide up their overs. Nabi, Wildermuth, Shinwari, Tremain, Richardson, Boyce and Cooper can all roll the arm over.
+ Christian , arrived back on Wednesday
2/474.

Thoughts on Wildermuth v's Sams (or both) as a DPP keeper as neither (effectively) have a bye. Wildermuth may bat higher but concerned that he may not get too many overs with so many bowling option for the 'Gades. Also not sure how much Sams will bowl (might depend on whether Watto bowls himself at all) or where he fits in the batting order. Any thoughts much appreciated.

This is a really interesting exchange. Personally I’m with thickshake on this one and would still back Tye in but Tails/Herbie seem to think locking in Carey’s score is a no brainer!

Thankfully, as BB said, my vc didn’t go big so I don’t have to worry because I’m really not keen to start a donut.
Yeah, it's a tough one. Personally don't have Tye, as the Scorchers' bowling lineup is insane and I don't reckon Tye's gonna get as big a bite of the cherry as he did last season. I'm still in two minds about it, will torture myself mulling over it all afternoon.

This is due to the different scoring formats between KFC (below left) and SC (below right) which favour bowlers who can get 3+ wickets in a game. KFC is much simpler whereas SC is a more refined scoring system.

Major variances in SC favour:
Wicket +5
Maiden +3
*Extra lower tier for ER bonus +5
**Bonus for over 3 wickets +10
***Dot ball +1 for every DB (though you get -1 for every extras bowled)

To highlight this, Tye's highest scores last season (Bowling Points ONLY) were:
Sixers - 4/21 (8 dot balls/1 extra, no maiden) 104 KFC vs 132 SC [+28 for SC]
Stars - 5/23 (14 dot balls/2 extras, no maiden) 130 KFC vs 162 SC [+32 for SC]

In essence when a bowler gets 3+ wickets theirs SC score will be circa 30 points higher than their equivalent KFC score, otherwise the difference is only +/- 10 points.
Thanks and I understand the scoring system. However:
- I wasn't advocating one way or the other on whether to take the 132 for Carey but for those that VC'd him I would consider it
- To beat it you'd need a DGW player with a 65 ave
- The ave for Tye last year is boosted by his two big first 2 games and needs to be taken into consideration as well as the forecast weather etc.
- To me both Lynn and Burns VC scores are good but not great and with the weather forecast are probably worth rolling the dice with a PER player
- If I were an opposition coach I'd take it easy on Tye's bowling and look to target the others ...

Agreed with everything you says and sound logic too.
I would take Carey's score had I VC'ed him as well, but I'm probably more conservative than others on this site...

I ended up making this decision with 25 seconds left on the lockout clock. One scores 87 and the other 3.
Guess which one I chose? :D

See you all next year!
Me too. Look, Patto generally gets smacked around in this stuff so it wasn't a bad gamble.

Fair enough and can’t really disagree with any of your points.

Personally I don’t like the idea of starting a non player, as it disrupts my trade plans and rotation of players. Admittedly I haven’t really put too much thought into it so perhaps it wouldn’t be as costly as I think it would be. That and needing to take the lowest bench score from my bowlers bench (like many I have Ingram on my batters) where I think there are a lot of good options.

I’m still undecided who I’ll make skipper myself. Tye seems like the obvious one based on price and ceiling, especially because he’ll just need the one big game to be worthwhile but leaning towards Agar if he looks like batting early or Willey who seems the most popular choice.

How does this work with the fixturing? Teams are playing multiple games this weekend. How does that affect trading? Is it same as AFL Supercoach? Anybody?
If I’m understanding your question correctly, there are set rounds and trades will be able to made at the conclusion of each round. You can see how the rounds are broken down from the below and how to best navigate the fixturing with regard to DGW/byes.

You can find more handy info from this thread

Given we might have 3 washouts there might be dozens of donuts and captains loopholes available though.

if my completely dumb choice of Neser as VC had paid off I would have no problem using Handscomb /Lenton/Doran/Nevill (?), Harper/Ludeman.

WK 2 is pretty much like GK 2 in EPL, Buttler/Lenton , Handscomb/Dunk, Nevill/Philippe can all be piggy backed together

would take Carey and/or Rashid Khan VC's score in a heart beat

given the opportunity to loop , utilise it

however given where my ranking is going to be at the end of week 1, I probably need to learn how to play this game conservatively (and properly)

just my opinion
