Rising midfielder Jack Bowes is expected to miss the next eight weeks of football after injuring his quad in the match against GWS on the weekend.

Bowes sustained the injury after a set shot at goal in the first quarter.

Gold Coast’s Head Physiotherapist Lindsay Bull told the Alpha Sport Injury Update Bowes would commence rehab immediately with the aim of returning late in the season.

“Jack’s had quite a bit of extensive damage to the quadriceps muscle and unfortunately that will see him miss a significant period of time while we’re rehabbing that,” Bull said.

“That looks at this stage to be around about the eight week mark.”

Jordan Murdoch also came off during the match with an apparent foot injury but Bull said the injury wasn’t a serious one.

“Jordan hurt his foot at the end of the second quarter in the game,” Bull said.

“He managed to play out the second half really well and we’ll just de-load him appropriately."

Touk Miller is showing positive signs in his own rehab as he works to overcome a heel complaint to be available for this weekend’s match against North Melbourne.

“Touk’s progressed really nicely over the last week,” Bull said.

“He’s progressed what he’s doing in terms of running and speed and some footy skills as well.

“We’re hoping that Touk will test really well throughout training this week and hopefully be available for selection.”

After missing the match in Sydney with injury, Jarrod Harbow is another who could be back this weekend.

“Harbs has been managing some groin soreness over the last month or so,” Bull said.

“We elected to de-load him over the weekend with the hope that would settle nicely for him.

“Once again, similar to Touk he’ll have to train and test really well this week and hopefully be available for selection as well.”

Key defender Sam Collins is progressing well in his recovery from a stress reaction in his femur and Bull said he was now entering the second phase of his rehabilitation.

“He offloaded for two weeks on crutches and has diligently attacked his rehab,” Bull said.

“He came off the crutches yesterday and will now start progressing his weight bearing moving forward.

“He’s entering the next stage of his rehabilitation which is exciting for Sam.”

Many of us did question the Hore injury rumour reported early in the week last week also - look how that turns out for us all!
We still shouldn't jump to conclusions before something official comes out. It was reported that Fyfe wasn't doing well and would miss a second week with his concussion back at Round 5, that didn't age well either.

Dr Jones & Partners Injury Update: R12

Matt Hass gives us the weekly injury update.

Crows midfielders Matt Crouch (hip) and Rory Sloane (hamstring) will undergo fitness tests at Adelaide’s main training session on Thursday as they push for Round 12 selection.

Crouch came close to making a full recovery ahead of Round 11 but struggled with high force dynamic twisting movements in his final fitness test.

“Matt completed a full main training session last week but unfortunately wasn’t able to complete the final test,” Crows General Manager of High Performance Matt Hass told AFC Media.

“He again completed a 10-12 kilometre session on Saturday so his overground load has been really positive, but he’ll need to regain those more dynamic movements ahead of this weekend.”

SUIT UP: Walker loses big bet to Crouch brothers

Sloane will also make his case later this week after sustaining a hamstring injury in the second quarter of Saturday night’s game.

Hass confirmed the co-captain’s medial hamstring strain was low grade.

“He has been functioning at a high level since Sunday and is a good chance of being available to play this weekend,” Hass said.

“We have a strictly objective process we follow in determining athlete readiness to return to play. This process is likely to result in a test on Thursday or Friday.”

In better news, Williams is expected to return from a fortnight out with a minor hamstring injury.
“At this stage, if he trains tomorrow and gets through then he’ll play,” Campbell said.
“He’s done everything he needs to do, it was probably close last week.
“It was only a reasonably minor hamstring so all going well, which we think it will, he’ll play against Adelaide on Saturday night."

If Crouch is out again I'm trading him to Cogs, I don't trust this thing because it's too close to his groin

“It was a hard one to diagnose because it wasn’t a traditional clavicle and it was in a really weird spot so the doc battled to get a read on it but then we got a scan on Sunday which showed he has a broken collarbone.

“He had surgery on Monday afternoon and looks like missing probably around four weeks.

“As I said he’s always pretty keen to play and he’s a tough young fella so I’m sure he’ll be pushing for less than that but roughly four weeks out.”
