@Fiasco, I will get to a more detailed answer later. In the meantime, though I'm sure you are on to it already, make sure you get Clarke D in for tonight. I'd use Scott to get him.

Hi Row, I hope you’re well mate. Would love your keen insight in to my predicament.

I’m only playing for leagues this year so still have 16 trades left but my rookie selections have been abysmal and I’m left with not much cash to upgrade my team. Just wondering what you think my best course of action is from here?

Def: Laird, Williams, Sicily, B.Smith, Hore Duursma - Gardner, Burgess

Mids- Cripps, Fyfe, Merrett, Bont, Treloar, Oliver, Coniglio, Answerth - Baker, Rowbottom, Scott

Ruck- Grundy, Gawn, Sweet

Fwd - Dunkley, Kelly, Danger, Boak, Heeney, Balta - Setterfield, Young

I’m at a bit of a loss at which way to go moving forward, only got $13,00 in the bank . Thanks mate.
Hi Fias,
you've absolutely nailed your problem. You need to start getting some cash coming in, and quickly!

Def - Laird, Williams, Sicily, B.Smith, Hore Duursma - Gardner, Burgess
Mids - Cripps, Fyfe, Merrett, Bont, Treloar, Oliver, Coniglio, Answerth - Baker, Rowbottom, Scott
Ruck - Grundy, Gawn, Sweet
Fwd - Dunkley, Kelly, Danger, Boak, Heeney, Balta - Setterfield, Young

You currently have what is effectively 6 deadwood Rookies.
You have 17 on the field, so there is a little bye pressure this week.

Scott ---> Clarke seems like a given to me. (Giving you 18 onfield)

The next comes down to your opinion and plans of a few of your players.
If you don't see B Smith helping you win League finals, then:
B Smith ---> Bewley via Answerth gets you $246,200 + your $13,000 + $25,100 from the 1st trade = $284,300

Balta out gives you $569,200 to find a Forward with, and the 3 trades bring your playing numbers up to 20 this week.

This let's you choose from: Boak, Walters, Daniel, Hawkins, Mundy, Billings, Dahl, Marshall & Parish.
Marshall is the cheapest, and not the worst. I'd be going with him.

Good luck, I hope it works out for you! :)

Thanks for that Row. I think I’ll go with that then look to upgrade Duursma next week. Hopefully some of these rookies can start making me some money soon so I can get my last couple of upgrades in.
Do you think getting Bewley this week then Naish/Logue next week is best or get Logue this week then Naish next week. I suppose it comes down to who has the best JS out of the 3?

Hi Herbie,
WELL ............
First let me say, the answer that @THCLT has given you is above and beyond! I know it is much appreciated by myself, the time and effort he has put into it, as I'm sure it is appreciated by you too!
The biggest problem, with trying to right the trainwreck, and maybe sneaking into the top 50k is the lack of top end stock:
Def: Laird is your top Ranked Def, but is sitting at 8th in the Def list. He's 12, 14 & 18 behind the top 3 Defs, of which you obviously have none.
Mids: You have Cripps 4th, then your next best Mid, on the Mid only table, is Taranto at 16th.
Rucks: Your 2 Rucks are giving up a combined 50/Round to Gawn/Grundy
Fwds: Your best/strongest line, where you have 2nd, 4th, 6th, & 15th.
You can generally hope to make some ground with a POD approach, but you are just giving up too much in having only 3 of the top 14 players. That's too many players that need to fall over, for you to make any significant ground. It also means your Captain selections have been problematical each week, and will continue to be. Combined you are giving up 300-400 pts/round by having virtually no top end stock. I'm 100% behind different and POD approaches, but you need to balance it out with some "safe" picks too.
From here I'd suggest you may as well continue with your POD approach, as aside from 1 maybe 2, you probably can't get enough top end stock to make considerable ground from here. A "I picked him to do better than most people thought" approach might provide you with some entertainment, if you find the right player/s. I know a couple of times, when my season has been cooked, I've found a little hollow pleasure in finding unsuspecting POD's. Outside of that, I'd look very closely at THCLT's plan, and hope around 6-8 of the top end players fall over!
Good luck, and i hope you find some fun in your team, for the remainder of the season. :)
PS btw Stewart is my highest ranked defender ? , not that it changes too much

Given the number of deadwood/potential deadwood Rookies you have, I don't think I'd be going early on any, just in case. Leave Logue/Naish etc until they are on the bubble.

all good kind sir ? makes all the difference

how is the World Cup coverage in Denmark ?

I see the European Regional T20 finals are currently on in Guernsey but Denmark are 4th
Meanwhile in Denmark .........

Is there a World Cup on? .......

We're not even getting coverage of the Womens FIFA WC.
If it's not domestic, or doesn't involve Denmark, it doesn't exist here.

Guernsey 118/7 (20) v Denmark as we speak.

and that sucks about both World Cups.

There might be something in this!
WC by 35 tonight, and Hurn scored 91.
Hurn's 4 lowest scores in order, are WC's 4 biggest wins in order.
Hurn's 6 lowest scores are the 6 games WC won by 3 goals+.
The 35 in realistic terms was more like a 70pt thumping too when considering WC had 20 more scoring shots.

Definitely a trend there.

As a non Hurn owner, hope WCE keep having huge wins then!

Hi Rowsus.

No rush, but do think there's any value in trading Gawn out, either for a ROB/Lycett type, or a Nic Nat/Goldy type?

You'd need to provide your current team. bank balance and trades remaining for him to give you worthwhile answer.

Personally, you'd need to have a lot of holes to fill, and plenty of trades remaining, to make it worthwhile at this stage of the game to give up the top SC player on aggregate and average.

I was looking at it from a more general perspective, although I am considering it for myself.

Nevertheless, I shall edit my post to add my team to my original post.

Just seeing all the details of your circumstance gives a great perspective on the viability. I didn't mean to call you out on your team. I'm ranked 51K, though I can go Answerth + Bank to Sloane this week in one trade. It would seem a strong option given your rookie bench and finishing your side. Whilst others with a more playing rookies and less trades could keep Gawn and make do with Hannebery/McDonald/Logue type players at worst.

Hey Rows,

Do I trade BSmith or Duursma down to Logue which would allow me to bring in Sloane. Or do I grab Naish? Reckon Logue has more chance of filling D6 than BSmith at the moment.
Would mean Logue and whoever I do not choose as D5 & D6 for now.
Dumping Duursma though and I would lose dpp via Answerth.
Still have minimum of 1 fwd , 1 Mid and 1 def to upgrade, along with Grundy if I can get him.
No cash 11 trades
